Each time I visit I am taken back to a time when high tea was not only expected but proper. The scones are absolutely to die for! Freshly made, onsite. The sandwiches, teas, and bubbly are always spot on. Service is just what you would expect. Proper and welcoming. They've got drag tea hours that never seem to match up with my schedule when I am in Man. One of these days... Nonetheless, I am eager for my next visit to this proper English tea house.

Yae not really a fan. And I really wanted to be…read more First the positive. - nice location inside the gay village (yes that the official name of the neighborhood ) - very nice and friendly staff and waiter. - good selection of teas and the teas have been tasty. But now to the rest a teatime should be sacred time with loved once an hour to relax calm down and enjoy good tea and food. We had the queens tea and it comes as a full high tea with scones, sandwiches and sweets. While the service - as already mentioned was great (they switched one set to vegetarian sandwiches) - the sandwiches have not been. The toast was a bit try on the edges and the actual spread and creations have been lackluster to be friendly. The chickpea vegetarian was the best by far. The scones clearly made in house fresh and really good tasting. But they have been more like a bead bun in consistency- but together with the clotted cream very very good. Just not really scones. This tea room also did disappointed me with just serving a tiny glass of industrial made strawberry preserves. They also only serve one "scone" per person and did not offered any more sandwiches or scones. And then finally the "sweets" the Richmond tea room takes that word very very literal. Besides a macaron and a little passionfruit tartlet they served two pieces of cake that have both been tasting like sugar only. While looking ok they just had no taste whatsoever other than just being overly sweet. No fruit flavor or distinctive taste. Since I left mine untouched since they were just not good maybe that why they don't offered more sandwiches or scones. All in all it was just not the teatime I was looking for spending with my husband as quality time we slowed down drinking the tea but we did not really enjoyed the food and that messed up the experience. Sadly. Starting with five stars I'll take one of for the stall sandwiches, another one for uninspired sweets and a third for the jam and overall price / quality relations. Since I would have lived with it when it would have been a cheap teatime in a restaurant, but it's a location that ha w tea room even in the name.

It was a surprisingly filling sandwich. I couldn't finish it from feeling so full. My skinny mocha was good. I don't know that I can judge much other than to say it was a good coffee drink. I popped in before an event the other day and had a mountain of admin work to get through and not a lot of time. I spent just over an hour in here and managed to get a lot of stuff done which made me feel at ease later on in the evening! They have a range of different coffees available; your standard stuff like Flat Whites, Americano's etc but also V60, Aeropress and Pourover options! I'm slowly starting to get more knowledgable about my coffee and what I'm tasting so I always like to mix up what I'm getting to test my palete. I had an Americano to start and then opted for a Columbian medium roast via the V60 - really nice and easy to drink! The guy next to me had a sandwich that smelt delicious and the selection of cakes and bakery treats was incredibly tempting - however on my 2 visits I've not tried the food. A great spot to take a load of, enjoy a quality brew or work away in a little bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.

What even is that. Brilliance, that's what it is. What looks like something beyond what you'd get at Room or Australasia in the nouveau cuisine stakes is brought to casual dining, in a casual environment at thoroughly casual prices. I've had some utterly lovely meetings and social experiences in here recently and its reclaimed its crown as Norther Quarter Big Daddy. No, wait. There are too many contenders to that crown. Let me get my Game of Thrones geek on. You know how in the second book there are seven folks claiming themselves king? If you don't, seriously, get involved. Anyway, Teacup feels like one of the more rightful contenders. Kind of like a Stannis Baratheon. Willing to experiment with new things. Determined and full of effort. Takes things seriously. Might have had a dip in popularity at some point, but heck, that does not keep a rightful king down. Teacup has totes re-stolen my heart. You know how quite a few Yelp reviews complain about certain things? Particularly Claire I's whereby the manager treated her meanly - well, fear no more. The manager she mentioned is gawn. In his place is an environment that feels so welcoming and friendly that it's like going into your best friend's front room for a brew. Their coffee is still one of the finest blends in all NQdom. Mothers Day Surprise!…read more We wanted to take the Mothers somewhere nice and out of town and had seen The Garden Kitchen had been visited by a number of our friends and family on Facebook, all giving great reviews and I can see why! We arrived for final service at 6pm and as you can imagine it was very busy on Mothers Day. The maître d' came straight over to us to let us know how long it would be until we were seated and continuously gave us progress updates. Whilst waiting we perused the small shop of local produce, had a drink and soaked up our surroundings. The Tea Room is a new addition to Holden Clough Nursery being built in the last few years, but looks like it should have always been there! It is beautiful and sympathetically designed to its surroundings. So, the food....WOW! I'd seen pictures but when our Afternoon Tea arrived on a mini picnic bench I felt like clapping!! (In fact, I think I did!!) Such a great idea and adds a little bit of originality and quirkiness to your experience. Everything on my picnic bench was delicious. The Mushroom soup was silky, creamy and full of flavour. The mini Roast Beef Dinner served in an individual yorkshire pudding was beautiful and of course came with a little jug of gravy and beef was tender and pink. The scone was fresh and light with jam that had just the right sweetness and fruit mix. My other main highlight was the Rocky Road, I'm not usually a fan because its too rich and sweet but O-M-G this was amazing. I still find myself thinking about it now two days on. The chocolate melts in your mouth to find small nuggets of biscuit and mini marshmallows.....all washed down with a great cup of coffee. John & Kate who own and run The Garden Kitchen have done a fanstastic job transforming Holden Clough Nursery over the last few years. The service, quality of food and surroundings are 10/10. We will be coming back during the day to visit the nursery (and no doubt the Garden Kitchen too). Thank you for a fantastic evening...and the Mums loved it!! : )

The cakes you got was a scone. A mini red velvet cake, a heart biscuit, marshmallows with chocolate, profiterole with white chocolate and a mini love potion in a glass boot. We got a glass of pink proseco it was £19.99 each which is a little expensive for the place as its a tree nursery but they do a different theme for different seasons so it's well worth a visit. I would defiantly go

I absolutely love this place, I keep telling everyone I know to go and try it, so they best keep making their fabulous cakes so everyone can try them. There's only about seven or eight tables, so when I say tiny, I certainly mean it. This isn't a bad thing at all (well unless it's so busy you can't grab a table), because it means the atmosphere is great. When I visted on Saturday there was a baby shower in progress, a few friends having cake and a catch up and an adorable elderly couple having cream tea and scones. It's great, certainly a place for anyone and everyone. There's a cake counter - that's right! A whole two tiered counter displaying all the homemade goodness for the day. This is great because you actually get to see what you're ordering. I've never seen any less than six different types of cake on offer!! I booked a table for my best friend and I for afternoon tea. When we arrived the table was laid out ready and we were given our afternoon tea menu. There were four sandwich choices, multiple drinks choices (you don't have to have tea) and the best bit is that you can pick two cakes! All for the amazing price of £14.50. I had their cheese and chutney sandwich, which was full of flavour, followed by a big juicy strawberry covered in dark chocolate. Next came the freshly baked scone, with clotted cream and jam of course, then finally my cake selection, a red velvet cupcake and a chunk of cookie and cream cake. So moist, yet fluffy with a side of a sugar overdose. Ha. I was so stuffed that I couldn't manage all my cake, but that's okay because they offered me a box so i could take it away with me!
