    Stonebridge Hotel

    Stonebridge Hotel

Stonebridge has been my go to hotel when staying in FSJ, the front desk and all the staff…read moreinteractions have all been positive. The location is great with walking distance to the Pomeroy Sports Centre, Safeway and the Totem Mall The hotel is updated to a more modern look with very comfortable beds, in room coffee, large TV with a variety of channels. The only thing I'd criticize is the Wi-Fi, I can be spotty at times but it keeps up most of the time (I guess when you're up on the 6th floor it's kinda tough to get a wifi signal that's strong)

Okay, so I have stayed here several times over the last year and a half when I come to Fort St…read more John for work. Once upon a time this place was less than savoury, but those days seem to be a thing of the past. The building is old and it shows. But maintenance seems to have kept up with the issues for the most part. The rooms are nice, spacious, clean, and bright. Some have mini fridges and microwave ovens, but all are comfortable and cozy. (I suppose this could count for the smoking rooms too, but I have not stayed in those because they are gross.) There is ample parking in the parking lots, and is rather centrally located - easy access to restaurants, grocery stores (Safeway is right next door, there is a liquor store next door, Mark's Workwear is close, and Sobey's isn't too far). For those working in "the patch" there are laboratories, hardware stores, safety supply stores, rental shops, and almost anything else you can think of. Food is important, and breakfast is often touted as the most important meal of the day. To this end, the Stonebridge provides vouchers for free breakfast - one for each night reserved/stayed. They have changed things up recently and are now offering a breakfast buffet from 5-10AM. From 10AM to 2PM the offering is a choice of delicious plated meals. My personal absolute favorite is the thick-cut bacon which is rarely found in restaurants. As for the Century Bar and Grill located on the main floor of the hotel, well, the food is good but the service is spotty, though almost always quite friendly. I have never ever had bad service from the hotel's front desk. You might ask: What's the best feature of the hotel overall? "The beds!" would be my immediate response. The beds are clean, comfortable, and wonderful! After all, that's ultimately what we are here for. Given the option of staying in a remote camp or at the Stonebridge, I will choose the Stonebridge every time. Unfortunately I do not always get that choice amd have to suffer horrid camp conditions rather than the relative luxury of the Stonebridge.

This place is just OK for a nites rest and shower. The air conditioner worked (bonus) but the whole room was in need of deep cleaning. The bathroom smelled like vomit. Unpleasant. Free wifi but signal was very weak. I couldn't log on, even when I was sitting in the lobby for 20 minutes trying to connect. There is a restaurant and a bar on the property.

It's been as cold as -39 C for a few days and when we checked into two rooms there on Saturday night the heater was broken in one room. The room they finally begrudgingly moved me into and my friends room both had the heaters turned off, not just down, OFF. The heater in my room quit during the night too. I woke up shivering. I've had arthritis for thirty years and I am and will be a mess for at least a few days because I didn't move to a different hotel instead of staying and putting up with the place. The hallways were so cold you could see your breath. Rooms were not only cold but not very clean, the sheets on my bed had big round black stains on them. The ceilings in the room, the bathroom and the hallways all show water damage. this doesn't surprise me, I bet the plumbing is freezing and leaking. We went to the lounge while waiting for some heat to accumulate in the rooms. The lounge although not very busy was filthy and there was not one clean table out of the ten or so empty and no one offered to clean one or serve us. We left the lounge and gave up on getting any service there. This used to be a premier establishment back in the boom days, now it's just a run down dive. Never again.
