This hotel is like a beacon of light...surrounded by a sea of small towns. And, it's ok! Located right off the highway. With a friendly staff, a good-sized parking area, an excellent breakfast/lounge and a very do-able workout room. The computer room is small but efficient. We missed the grand opening of the pool by "that much!!" Like a couple of days. The rooms; very average-step-up-above-decent. Looks like all the rooms are wheelchair accessable. The beds were slightly better than average. The complimentary breakfast ran 7 days a week 6am-9am, sometimes a little longer if peeps are still eating. Basic food but streamlined in cool displays. What I didn't like: the small elevator, compared to other hotels. Also, the bathrooms didn't have the switch for "venting the stinky smells or so you can't hear what I'm doing in here." Angie and Lisa are STELLAR employees here at the Holiday Inn Minden. My sister and I were effected by the winter storm coming from Georgia to Texas. The staff here welcomed us and l have been EXTREMELY hospitable. In addition to the complementary breakfast the chain serves every morning, the staff prepared dinner meals for us as well when they didn't have to! They stayed on-sight to assist, & kept us all calm with their warm smiles and funny spirits every day we were here. I'm forever grateful to this hotel and staff after this trip! God kept my sister and I, He also directed us here so we felt at home even though we were away from home. read more

My family and I traveled, during the pandemic, to a funeral in Denver, CO. The pandemic wasn't the only major factor at play in our travels. A huge winter storm wiped out power and water in several states and impacted our travels on our way home from Denver. Long story short, our flights from Denver to Dallas were delayed and our flights from Dallas to Birmingham were completely cancelled. We stayed the night in a hotel in Dallas with no power or heat and began the drive home the next day since there was no hope of a flight for days. We ended up staying in Minden after a nerve-wracking day of driving over dangerous, ice packed roads. The service at the hotel was spectacular. A warm room and hot breakfast food was more than we could have asked for! Many businesses nearby didn't open and there were no restaurants open and grocery stores closed, too. The staff at this Holiday Inn Express went above and beyond, cooking not only breakfast for all of the stranded guests, but making dinner for us as well. A majority of the staff stayed on the property to care for their guests as the roads were too dangerous to travel. They treated us like family and learned our names before the end of our 3 night stay. It was almost bittersweet parting from this place. I have stayed at this Holiday inn Express many times over the years. Usually returning home for Reunions and the like. I've always gotten a clean room, no noise and the service great. They keep the decor fresh. This time, the Christmas tree was not a Christmas tree, but a Mardi Gras tree. I don't believe I've ever seen one of those before. A great added touch. The service is always friendly. Return customers like to be remembered. On this occasion due to many airline mishaps my luggage ended up in a different city. Holly, at the front desk, went overboard to assist in making this misadventure not ruin my stay. In retrospect, I've never had a bad experience at this location. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Minden. read more

Holiday Inn Express, has had an update past couple of years, looks great. We took a mid week get away to visit Gibsland. This location was close for us. We booked online and went for the King size bed with a jacuzzi. Really pretty nice room and the jacuzzi, just cost a couple dollars more. The room has a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave. The Keurig Coffee maker was perfect. Closet was nice size with a full sizer ironing board and iron. King size bed was very firm, while the big pillows were very comfy and soft. The over head adjustable reading lamps were a major plus, but you can feel the halogen lamp heat. Bathroom was laid out nicely, even had an adjustable magnifying makeup mirror. Room 206 is right above the pool. The pool was closed but was clean and ready for use. Check in was very simple and easy. The front desk even suggested a few local sites to take in during our visit. The Free Breakfast was a perfect way to start todays adventure. The hotel is right across the street from a couple of gas and convenience stores. read more

Our family are IHG Reward's Club members. This place made us feel like we were not in a Holiday Inn Express. FOOD: The BREAKFAST was THE MOST DISAPPOINTING. The first day we went, many of the items were not available for us to eat. When my sister asked for Cinnabon rolls, the server told her that it was not available. However, he told me that he will prepare them ASAP. The sausages were rubbery, the biscuits were hard, and the scrabbled eggs and omelette were not there. One of the liquid coffee dispensers needed a refill but no one bothered to refill it. Only one person was there handling the food. The garbage bins inside the dining hall were overflowing and my mom had to point it out to the manager. BOARDING: although we had checked into the hotel for two nights, our key cards stopped working the next morning. The manager blamed it on one of the cleaning ladies and the receptionists blamed it on our "phones". GYM: The equipment did not work properly. PARKING: It was alright. CONCLUSION: POOR SERVICE. read more

I've been staying at this Holiday Inn Express ever since it opened whenever I travel to Minden to visit relatives. I have always had a great experience and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are always comfortable and clean. Only one small issue... since they don't clean your room everyday, it would be nice if they put in some bigger wastebaskets, extra trash bags to put in them, or maybe a large trash bin in the laundry/ice room. Despite that, I will always stay here whenever I'm in town. read more

We stopped here for one night on the way home from Florida. We got a King room and it was plenty big, could probably fit a roll-away bed if needed. The only issue I really had with the room was the overwhelmingly musty smell. You could feel moisture in the carpet and I picked up the Guest guide folder and there was water collected beneath it. My guess it that it's been unusually humid lately and the moisture got caught in the rooms that haven't had guests in a while. Regardless, it was a tough smell and I had trouble sleeping because of it. My other problem with this place was the price. It's too high for the value of the hotel. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly. The female who checked us in was very bright and cheerful, even though it was 9:30 at night. The only other staff person I interacted with was the female serving breakfast and she was kind and asked how my day was going. I'd have to say overall this was an ok hotel with clean rooms and a decent breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

Solid HI Express. The rooms have always been super clean and the staff super nice. My only complaint is that the rates are ridiculously high for a HI Express. BUT, they're pretty much the only game in town if you want a room door that doesn't open out into a sketchy parking lot. read more

I was accompanying my husband on a business trip and we needed a place to stay in the area, so we chose this hotel. At first I thought the $130 a night for a single king sized bed room in such a small town. However, I found that the hotel was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Everything was seemingly new and well-kept. The room was a very large size, with free wifi and other basic amenities. I was actually quite surprised to find such a nice, clean hotel in the middle of nowhere! If I'm ever back in this area, I know where to stay. read more

Super disappointed, I booked this at a higher rate to cancel and adjust because I had two employees staying there. I called to cancel the last night because their job was canceled for the last day and they told me I couldn't change the reservation. I had to change the reservation before they checked in. They were not helpful and we will pay for a night there, two rooms with no one occupying them. Will not ever book this hotel. read more

I spent three days, two nights here in September 2011. The service was great, the attendants were pleasant to speak to, our rooms were spacious and accommodating. My favorite part was the deck area. If possible, we will give no star. We used to stay here every time we visited Minden. This hotel is getting worse each time we visit. Last weekend, we were first given Room 313. This room has a very very strong smell of pee. It seemed that someone urinated on the carpet. After we contacted the housekeeping (but actually the front desk answered our phone), their first response is asking us if we turned on the air conditioning!!! After our request, they gave us Room 301. This time it smelt more normal. But when we started shower, we found that once we turned on water (whether water came out from the shower head or the tap), the drain in the bathtub was very slow. So we were forced to stand in dirty water. The worst and disgusting thing is that the drain seemed like a spring with water keeping coming out. Hence, when we finished shower, we needed to clean our feet under the tap again. When we contacted the front desk, the only thing they did is saying sorry. They did not have any common sense of submitting our complaint to their maintenance department. Besides, their sheets are not clean. After the first night, our legs were so itchy and it seemed fleas bit our legs too. Our feet hurt too and blisters appeared in some fingers. We don't know what's going on with this hotel. They don't care if residents could get infected in dirty water or on unclean sheets. So disappointing! read more
