I had moved to folsom recently and was looking for a solid tax advisor to help file my taxes but i pleasantly surprised myself by finding a really good one in Holmes and Company. Holmes and company provided to me probably the most stress free tax filing ever so far. Laura came to our home and got down to the business straightaway and she was so thorough that i did not have to do much except provide the necessary documents needed to file my taxes and then to my surprise what i thought was going to be complex tax filing was done expertly without any issues or glitches within a hour and quarter of she being here and she also ended up saving us money by helping rectify the mistakes we have doing in our filing in the past. Overall very smooth , professional and to the point and a great pleasure to work with She is also very responsive post filing, i.e. if you have any questions you want to ask her through email , please do as she is very responsive. And for all this she charges very very reasonably for her services, considering this is california i expected her fees to be higher honestly but she priced her services really reasonably to point where it was actually cheaper by quite a bit compared to previous filings when i had used a tax advisor. I also realized that you do need to avoid the big box places that do your taxes as their charge is at least 1.5X higher than hers and to top it they dont end up saving you much money anyway. If you have or expect to have a really complex tax filing on your hands owing to your diversified investments etc. Then you can trust Holmes and company to do the job for you. You know, I just don't get it. We went to Laura for our 2013 return because of her rave reviews. I don't know how we ended up having such a terrible experience. She showed up to our first meeting and said her mother was in town and she would really like to spend the day with her. We said we understood, so she took our stuff we had gathered for her and left. 3 weeks went by and no word, even though I called several times. My husband finally had to go to her home to get her to respond. We chose to have our taxes auto withdrawn from our account and she took our bank info. Weeks later we got an overdue notice. When I finally contacted her, she didn't remember we wanted to auto pay. She did pay the penalty we incurred, so I appreciated that. Flash forward to today, 2015, and we just got a notice from the IRS saying we owe $190,815 for our 2013 taxes! Our first experience with Laura was great...in minutes of meeting with us, she found an error on our previous year tax return and filed a correction. She filed our 2019 taxes and all was great. Unfortunately, since then, I'm not sure where she disappeared to. I reached out before Christmas to ask for advice on a bill for a prior year return (different cpa) and she responded that she'd help after the holiday. After that, she completely disappeared and I feel like I was broken up with without being told. Multiple emails went unanswered. We ended up paying the bill without having any advice and are now searching for someone new to use this year. I had told my entire office how great she was, and a few of them used her as well. In speaking with them recently, she also disappeared on them as well. I sincerely hope she's okay, but I am really disappointed in the lack of communication.
