Pam knows her stuff and has my child's interests at heart. She is child centered and motivated by the best interests of her youngest clients. Welfare of the child is her biggest concern even if it means adults are not happy. I would be surprised if she even takes on clients who are unwilling to put their children first. Extraordinarily poor communication seems to be having a very difficult time with what should be a fairly simple task. I don't receive monthly updates as were agreed upon, when I call to find out what's the status I get charged. I was told that they lost my address, not possible, but the bill makes it no problem. I have been in contact with attorney Holmes since I left this review and she has assured me that she has made changes in the way communication with clients is executed. I am now receiving regular messages regarding the status of my case. Now that I'm aware of some of the complexities that were unexpected I am satisfied with the services I am receiving. read more

It's a sad reality that there are actually lawyers out there who will take advantage of your unfortunate situation. Pamela Holmes is one of them. If you want your divorce to cost upwards of $15,000 ... she's your lawyer. If you like fighting and want to go to court and spend even more money... she's your lawyer. I sadly ended up in the courthouse with this incompetent woman on multiple occasions and started to see a pattern that every time we were there... she was running back and forth all over the courthouse sharing time (and wasting my time... thus money...) representing at least two or three other individuals and cases that she could not help settle in mediation. This is not a woman who likes to compromise or settle. This is a woman who cares about her own agenda and loves to fill her own pocket. That's all that matters. She and her staff constantly and conveniently lose emails so you pay double to have to re-iterate the same message and resend. She will take advantage of you by advising you to not settle on the obvious things ... things like... not paying state guideline child support. "Hey... Maybe the judge will actually go for you not paying child support! Let's just argue that we pay only half!" All of these things you will eventually lose on. She'll tell you you have a chance... She'll spend your money... And then when you settle on the court steps... she won't care because her vacation is paid for. She'll say "Well at least we tried. We fought hard. We should settle now. We don't want to go to court on this one." ... WAIT A MINUTE... Shouldn't we have just settled in mediation then??? Before I spent an extra $10,000 on you because you told me not to settle on this exact same thing I am now settling on?! So now you've just spent extra money on her fighting something you're going to lose anyway. Something that should be a very easy checklist item in mediation will become a battle, and turn into more money in her pocket. Find a lawyer that wants to help you finish this painful process quickly and fairly. Not make it long... dragged out... exhausting and expensive. read more

We used Holmes Legal to draw up some documents for the sale of our Maine home including a Promissory note and a Bill of Sale. Not having had to use a lawyer before in Maine its always risky business to take a chance on an unknown. We were glad to see that they to handle our business promptly since you never want to put off a closing date for the sale of your home. Anyway, the docs were written well and we had our realtor look them over and everything looked very good. We did sell the home and the buyers dis sign those docs. We haven't had to use the documents to deal with any issues since we had responsible buyers but for such a large investment like a home I think it's foolish not to have official legal documents. We were happy to work with them and I would give anyone else a green light to use them. Peace of mind is a good thing. read more

I cannot speak for the rest of the office, however Pamela S. Holmes is one of the most dishonest people I have encountered. She uses her position as a Guardian ad litem not to serve the best interests of children, but to make money. Never had any concern for the best interests of my family or daughter and that showed through the two years I attempted to work with her. She dragged out the divorce process (more $$ for her as shes as greedy as they come) and never once attempted to identify or solve the obvious issues that were present. Lying on the stand at trial, failing to take actions as a mandatory reporter on a DHS issue and the list goes on and on. Absolutely the most shocking behavior I have seen in my lifetime and am dumbfounded that she holds the office she does. Fortunately for her she is shielded by the the Maine Family Law system which is so broken and outdated. It has no checks and balances, GAL complaint procedure or recourse for trashy attorney like Holmes. I submitted very detailed reports to the District Court in Maine along with the Chief Justice however those were not persued. There are many wonderful GAL's in the state doing great work. Pamela S. Holmes is not one of them. I have two years of experience with her, I hold a very respected and trustworthy position and am a very moral and ethical person. Every word I have ever said about her is the absolute truth. Please go ahead and tell Holmes about my review and let her lie to you and say none of this is true. I would be happy to share my experiences with you and anyone else who has been a victim to her. She is not in your kids best interest. read more

Ms. Holmes is probably a really nice person but an awful, awful GAL. She actually pulled a 7 year old from a school she was doing well at and sent her to another private school in Mass. She said the private school in Portsmouth couldn't handle all of the childs needs. She only spoke to 2 out of the 7 people in the school she needed to and she do so after school was out for the summer. She only spent 45 minutes on the phone with the private school in Portsmouth and only 4 hours with the minor child in 3 home visits. Then she sent the minor child to another school in Mass further away from the childs home state of Maine. Thankfully the judge reversed all of Ms. Holmes mistakes and the minor child is back where she belongs. Ms. Holmes spent about 60 hours on the case at a rate of $125 per hour. She certainly wasn't out for the minor childs best interest. If you get her as your GAL, request a new one before you start or you could be in the same situation this family was in. Very sad if you ask me and a lot of wasted time and money. read more
