We need to feel compassion, empathy, respect do this through your faith. Even when we are away from home can still search for the word . The "words" make us feel loved and appreciated. So much history in this city. The building that this congregation calls home is amazing. The architecture just speaks to an individual. It's epic truly. The followers can come here leave their negativity and anger. They can come inside and talk and sing . Let their love flow freely all together. Even though lots of history is here the building evokes love and peace . Remember you are always free to express yourself. Believe and accept the love you deserve. While one of my children was standing outside this beautiful church a local wandered up to us, nonjudgmental and was angry. After speaking to us on holy ground he left with a smile. That's the true power of love and kindness.

The preaching is the true Word of God. God is all love. He is also a just God. Jesus is our savior and intercessor. Check out their Sunday morning service at 10:30am. They have adult and children Sunday School at 9:15am on Sundays. Wednesday morning prayer and bible study starts at 10am. Wednesday evening bible study starts at 7pm. However, when i came to this church, people do more than the "hi and bye and hope to see you next sunday and have a good week"...they want to get to know about you and really absorb you into their community. The music is phenomenal and their service is always inspiring. Our pastor uses films/videos in his sermons and really touches upon relevant day-to-day issues that affect our lives - they can even be really funny at times. Our pastor has a great sense of humor and faith in God, which makes him so relatable and easy to talk to. There's also a great young adults group that has a mixture of students and working professionals that really gets you connected to others going through the same questions/struggles you are going to. This is a really great place for people with all different spiritual levels and walks in life, whether you've been a Christian your whole life or if you are wondering who God is, you will find acceptance, love, and support here.

I mean, there's diverse, and then there's a small church that represents about 20 different countries diverse, (20 might be a little bit of an exaggeration but the real number is not far off). The second thing I noticed was that the music was phenomenal. Some of the singers are fantastic and some of the musicians are top notch, especially the pianist, who went to Berklee College of Music. The pastor is spectacular as well. He's always willing to talk and will probably take you out to lunch. During the after church lunch/refreshment thing, he makes an effort to reach out to everyone in the congregation. His messages get to the heart of the gospel and he knows what separates the gospel from religion. He'll motivate you to grow closer to Jesus without sugar coating the Bible like those that preach the prosperity gospel. Not only is the congregation diverse, but it's super welcoming. Almost overwhelmingly welcoming. My first experience here was awesome. I slipped into the church and sat at the back and went unnoticed, (or so I thought). Then I went to the after church lunch thing and sat down. While eating my food, I was greeted by about 4 different people. Each one was super excited to see me and were truly interested in what I had to say. The pastor came and invited to be a part of different groups at the church. If you are looking for a place where you can sit at the back of the church without being noticed/greeted then this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a Christian community to be a part of that truly needs you and wants you no matter your background, then this is the place for you.

My mentor was Rabbi Howard Berman, who was the ONLY rabbi in the Chicago metro area willing to work with . me. Rabbi Berman led me on an amazing spiritual journey including two trips to Israel, attendance at morning minyan where I learned all the Hebrew prayers by praying, being led by my fellow minyanaires, and being part of a prayerful community, by the way I now belong to a Conservative congregation with substantial use of Hebrew in the liturgy and Torah readings in Hebrew. I have read the entire English text of the Torah. I am completely able to participate in services, numerous rabbis pushed me away as a seeker saying I could never get involved in services without Hebrew literacy, Rabbi Berman and classical reform gave me the frame work and skills to become a very active Jew.
