I had to put my AirPod Pros in on noise cancellation mode just to cope with the dangerously loud decibels that overwhelming this place. There are zero people here over the age of 40. The person giving the message was clearly anti-Trump and said she was bothered by everything that's happened in the past two months, (since Trump took office). I am an elder in Christ's church and didn't feel comfortable at this place at all. I was only here because of a family gathering, but would never choose to go to City Church on my own accord. Did I mention how brutally LOUD the music is? It was absolutely deafening!!!! Seriously folks, turn the volume down. It is horrifically disgusting how loud it is. There are NO acoustic tiles anywhere. There's a black metal ceiling above the rafters and sound bounces around at unsafe levels that should not be sustained by anyone on planet earth.

Went to Easter service with my brother, his wife, and some friends. I knew it would be busy because…read moreit was Easter, but the amount of people that this place holds is impressive. I was SO thankful to see the 'First Time Visitor' parking in the front; I thought that was a nice touch. I walked into the lobby area to wait for my brother (he was running late) and I noticed a nice water fountain past the sea of people leaving from the previous service. I thought it was just a decorative feature, but it turned out to be their baptismal pool. Since it's outside of the chapel they did a live feed during the service so everyone could witness the baptisms that took place. They have a larger chapel (for everyone), a smaller chapel (for teen service), a children's area, and a special area just for babies. I didn't know whether the baby area was just for the parents to get a little break or what (free babysitter), but once I walked into the chapel I realized that the volume of the music might be too much for little ears. So the baby area is a great idea - use it if you need to. Back to the music: they have a live band playing at the beginning of the service. The music is contemporary and upbeat; it was my favorite part of the experience. The singers were really into their worship and some were getting emotional during one of the songs. The lights are dimmed and it's like you're walking into a show rather than a church service. Found our seats near the front and my brother led me back out to the side aisle. He took me over to a side table that had communion on it. He said they didn't do it as a whole, but anyone who wanted to partake in communion could. Another nice touch, to help fellow Catholics like myself adjust to this new format. The chapel has large screens on each side so everyone can see. The minister did a good job with his sermon - it didn't seem as long as it was, which is a good sign. As I said before they held baptisms out in the lobby area and fed live video into the chapel. They had a little more music, then it was time to go. I'd like to note that this location has a coffee shop near the entrance, and a book store. They allow you to take your drinks and snacks into the chapel, so no need to show up extra early and scarf your food down before the service begins. The chairs in the chapel are wide and roomy - they really went the extra mile to make their patrons comfortable. It sounds like they have several committees and clubs that anyone can join, so they are trying to have a sense of community despite the size of the congregation. Overall it was a nice experience, but I don't think I'll be converting. It's a nice option to visit every once in awhile though.

firstly, w signage, literally, you can see from the street, the w sign. then, before you walk…read morethrough the door, there is a variety of christian music playing under and around the veranda. and tonight, going as i type, is an auction event supporting the church and its mission work. i'd expected to join a worship service as i walked to and into the front entrance, but was pleasantly surprised to find an auction that appeared to start little earlier than scheduled. among the auction items to which i'd been attracted was a silver tray with olive branches design that i think would be useful for either serving a meal to an individual or presenting silverware at a group meal. really the hot item category, though, as per use at any event it is present, would be the food, among which a lemon blueberry zucchini cake drew me to it more than any other. nonetheless, although i'd left before the presentation, in which i understand to be the event in which the church mission work either was, is, or will be discussed, with the best estimate i can offer while waiting for a ride and jamming to the veranda music being that it either is or will be. and lastly, to ensure i'm not leaving the impression that all i got from the first visit of mines to the church, i'll add that at least 3 individuals communicated to me the church worship service schedule, with that being 5:30 dinner, followed by worship service each wednesday, along with a young adult group scripture reflection, at 8 that day, for individuals in the 20s age group, followed by alternating gatherings between the closest b dub wings, with wings on the church, as well as snackage in the church vestibule, with the former coming during the nearest week. and the sunday service schedule, from what i understood, is 8:15, 9:15, and 11. i'll conclude by letting you know when i plan to return is for the young adult group gathering, but it truly sounded and looked to me like there is value at the church for every age group from kids, to whatever the step after young adult is, not sure i'm there yet lol

The Boston Avenue United Methodist Church is many things at once. It is of course first and…read moreforemost a house of worship. It is a magnificent example of Art Deco architecture, perhaps one of the finest in the world. It is a striking landmark on the Tulsa skyline both day and night. And it is a tourist attraction which is what my review will highlight. The attached photo is from our room at the nearby Ambassador Hotel. While the hotel is pricey by Tulsa standards this view alone makes it all worthwhile. Tulsa has many examples of dramatic architecture for its houses of worship but the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church is one that stands alone ... literally ... from every angle. As a tourist attraction it is free and guests are welcome to wander the labyrinth of hallways and stairways. I purposely did not post photos so as not to take away from future visitors sense of exploration and discovery but I will advise not to miss the sanctuary whether you are religious or not. The stained glass and sweeping ceilings are not to be missed. There are many reviews that I've read that say visitors can visit the bell tower and that it is has a great view however the lady at the welcome center seemed to scoff at that. Perhaps because it was a weekday and she didn't want to have to leave her desk. However she was otherwise friendly and helpful as was a gentleman I met from the choir who took a sincere interest in learning about us and our exploits in Tulsa. I recommend spending an hour or two exploring this attraction and if definitely bringing your camera.

Great People. If you…read morehave grown up in Tulsa you are most likely familiar with Grace Fellowship Church or the Yandian family name. Bob Yandian was the pastor of this fine congregation for many years to succeeded by his son Rob Yandian. Both have had different directions for the church however one thing remains-keeping God's Word First. You will not get little groups of people here that click together, you get one group of like minded believers reaching out to the community with love. If someone were far from God or in need of a good church home I would recommend Grace Tulsa to them. There is no judgement here, but just love and caring people. I have been impressed and I am excited to see where they go in the future. Service times 8:30 and 11:30 on Sunday.
