It has original art by sculptor Robert Hughes, two custom made pipe organs played by concert organist Susan Fere, and a truly vibrant church community. Services draw on the best of the Episcoopal liturgical resources, including alternative Supplemental Services at times. Psalms are sung weekly, and additional choral music happens at major feast days. The Rector, The Rev. Fran Gardner-Smith is a Mt. Holyoke graduate and a great preacher. Visitors constantly comment that "This is the way church is supposed to be" or wish that they lived nearby so they could join. After church the coffee hour is lively and home made baked goods are always on tap. Coffee is available before church as well as after. All ages are evenly represented. Children are active members and participants in the congregation, whether outreach projects, parish events, or in the liturgy. The church is child friendly, with a "quiet room" where children can come and go during the service if they feel restless. The church has obtained grants to run an Internship for Rural Ministry, and has seminarians in residence on a regular basis. They also run a Community Meal Program which will serve 1,000 meals this year to local residents. They are regular hosts to concerts by Music in the Great North Woods.In addition, they have all the usual things such as adult book discussion group, Godly Play, Rite 13, a mothers' play group, and fiveweekly AA meetings If you come visit, you will have an experience of a church where faith matters, the liturgy matters, and the surrounding community matters. Everyone here was warm, friendly, and very hospitable as they made you feel welcome from the moment you entered until you left. They even provided coffee and donuts after the service which was a welcome surprise. This was a wonderful church to experience.
