Do not purchase online unless you are going to physically go into the store and pick them up because you have to check the shoes well before walking out of the store. I have had one experience where I had to drive back to the Upland store from Downtown Riverside because they gave me the wrong shoe. I had purchased a brand new pair of shoes and they also had a used pair of the same shoes in stock, and I received 1 brand new shoe and one used shoe, so I had to drive back so it could be made right. I also bought a pair of "brand new" Jordan 3 Retros from 2011; and when I opened the box, one of the heel tabs was in the box loosely m, and the other heel tab was hanging on by a thread. I ended having to glue them back on the shoe. Edit from 11-28-25 The store did send $100 back to me from the purchase of the Black 2011 Cement 3's with the heel tabs that were messed up. The store also offered free shipping from the Brea store to my house to eliminate a trip to the upland store. I would double check everything before leaving the store. I need to revise my review . This used to be a great place to visit to do some fun, interesting trades pick up some shoes for a steal however times have changed. There was a time you were treated good here decent value for your shoes within market payout if they were new. That is no longer the case. Recently offered up some decent DS pairs (J4's) but I was basically offered half their payout on each one. On used pairs, which by the way are clean and not cooked maybe VNDS worn one time was offered $10 a pair. I would drive 40 miles to deal with these guys but now that they've grown, fresh new faces behind the counter and whoever's handling their IG it's all gone downhill. Might be a cool spot to pick up some used pairs but anything else DS you can get 20-30% cheaper online and have better luck selling or trading your pairs on other platforms to get better value for your money. I get it, it's a business, but don't get got. What was once a fine establishment is now basically ran as a pawn shop offering you close to nothing new or used but charging over market on what they sell. Per their words on a recent conversation "we're in our own market" - meaning they do what they want. This review your subjective to my experience with the business And this isn't a one time incident it has been added a decline for quite some time, but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt That things would pick back up however they're basically doing what they want. Although we didn't find anything that we wanted, the prices were extremely fair. I was also impressed with the customer service. A couple of the staff came up to check in on us and ask if we were looking for anything in particular, and they were overall very friendly. Drove 8 hours long to come here been subscribed since before the shop was a thing. Highly do not recommend never been disappointed like this ever. I was told a different quote I got over the phone, and when I asked for more they would not budge. They made at least a 120% more on my whole lot and I was told my prices are too high and they would never put it up for that price. I was asking 2200 for my chocolates after they quoted me 1800 over the phone. They instead offered me 1300 when last sale was 4k on eBay a few months ago. I reluctantly took the deal because I drove so far to come here. I got 2300 on my red October's and chocolate sbs and they sold the chocolates alone for 2300+ so everything else I gave them was pure profit. Beware. They are not fair. They then sold the ro for almost 2k, when they told me none of these shoes would sell. They sold before their anniversary. When I asked for at least some merch like a jacket they told me I was asking too much and they gave me a hat. That store left a bad taste in my mouth, i sold other heat too but they were being too greedy, especially for a place called "holy ground".. I confronted them and they didn't do anything about it to make it right. I was lied to that they would not price my shoes that high and they did. I just felt betrayed by a company that I've been supporting from afar and made my own vacation based on coming out there. Yes I offered more other places and i could have just passed but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and they lied. The staff can be rude at times too they laughed in my face and nickel and dimed me. I was told I was on camera and that this would all be recorded and they never posted it! Maybe cause the deal was so lopsided, I thought at least my consolation prize is I'd see myself on YouTube but nope. Next time you are in LA make the trip to rif, cool kicks or syndicate. Shops in NorCal either only sell or straight up offend you with their offers. That's why I've made it a point to set aside sneakers I want to sell until I have a trip planned to SoCal. I'll even plan a trip around a HG visit. Andrew and his staff have always been cordial with me and my family. We've brought our young kids to both shops and never encountered any issues. All of his employees are friendly, respectful, and fair. They'll work with your price so it's a win-win for both parties. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not trying to sell to make profit. I like shoes, I wear my shoes and when it's time to sell, I'll sell so I can trade for something I want. Yes, shoes can be sold higher on other platforms, but after fees, the offer is pretty much the same. A seller can list at a higher price, but you also need a buyer that is willing to pay for your ask. Let's all keep that in mind. I recently did a sell through the mail. Both shoes I sent could fetch four digits elsewhere, but decided to check with HG. I communicated with Andrew and we worked out a deal. I mailed it in, HG verified, and then I got paid. Updated review While I still consider myself a relatively new "sneakerhead" since 2020, I have visited multiple shops all across Southern California and can confidently say that Holy Ground is still my favorite shop to buy and sell shoes. The prices for both used and new shoes are great. The offers I have received when selling or trading in pairs have been extremely fair. Most importantly, the welcoming atmosphere and amazing customer service that HG has cultivated is unmatched. My words of advice to customers who are looking to sell their shoes is this: shops must consider a variety of factors when purchasing shoes. Rent, insurance, salaries, taxes, etc. They need to make a certain profit. They cannot offer you the exact market price on a shoe because there would be no margin for them. For the stores that would offer you market price or extremely close to market price, I would challenge you to look at the high prices they are selling their pairs for. read more
