Holyoke Hospital is my parents preferred hospital. Even though we did wait 7 hours in the ER but I understand. I wish this could reach someone higher up in the hospital. Seems run down to me. Takes forever to be seen. Also, they don't send you any bills or even let you know if you owe anything before you leave. We never got anything in the mail, and all of a sudden it shows up in our credit report that we have a collections from this place for $100.. like?? That's just ridiculous to me that it made me laugh. I was able to take it off though without paying. Do not let this hospital bully you or even send you to collections. They suck. I've been a patient there for 10 years. I go there for my cancer treatment. I received a bill dated back to 12/22025. Included in bill is a charge from 2021. Supposedly to old to contest. Come on who's fault is that. There is $592 in unpaid bills. I have a new insurance so I wasn't sure what the charges were going to be. Very disappointed. read more

Horrendous establishment we deserve much more. Minimum 4 hour wait is the normal. Very uncomfortable environment broken televisions mixed with the sunlight beaming on you roasting you as you wait. It's a fish bowl ER department you wait hours and hours to be seen and if you get called in the back you might be luck and get a bed in the hallway. read more

Went for pain management in January of 24. I was talked into a trial spinal stimulator. I jump through all the hoops with the x-rays, MRI, and psychic evaluation. Awful experience! As many other reviews state , the nurses don't care nor even pretend too. Sit at the desk laughing and talking about video games and going out , make the techs run around non stop, zero communication about staff changes / follow up from tests results or anything. Don't even get a real Dr to speak to you after having serious brain and heart tests , have a PA who doesn't tell you the right info.... Horrible all around experience go anywhere but here!!!! Staff is both incompetent, rude and no customer service! the whole staff is talking and laughing so loud outside while patients are suffering in pain lying in beds. when shift changes, they don't tell the patients, the next shift staff has no clue what the previous shift staff did. I have had nothing but trouble with the billing department. It is awful. They have billed me for services that I already paid for and then sent me to collections. Their system is very confusing and could be simplified. Also, the Westfield and Chicopee offices have screwed up appointments. I wanted to change to a primary care in the Chicopee office I went to the office and was given a doctor's appointment for the new doctor. The morning of the appointment I got a call canceling the appointment because no one ever had me fill out the paperwork needed. Westfield has made me wait for over an hour for my appointments even when there at no other patients in the office. I had to switch doctors because the first doctor they gave me was very unprofessional and yelled at me. She was also very confused a lot of the time. She even told me I was bipolar and was going to make me see a therapist. read more

In the last year, I have had a lot of issues with my nerves. I have high anxiety and I went into a full anxiety attack and because I had a pinched nerve in my neck the pain went down my arms. Honestly, I thought I was having a heart attack in my mid-thirties. I kid you not. Staff was so kind and treated me well. We had a few laughs until I calmed down and was able to feel normal again. I also had to go in with my son who got pink eye. They treated him amazing as well. Good job Holyoke Med Center! What a turn around. I am impressed. read more

We recently spent time in the Emergency Room at Holyoke Hospital. From the minute we stepped foot in the door till the time we left it was an amazing experience!! From registration to our nurse Nick and tech Colin and Dr Curry we were treated like gold!! They were pleasant informative compassionate ( genuinely) with all aspects of our care. This place is a hidden gem !! They were so knowledgeable and AMAZING!!! Very efficient and kept us up to date often. Coming from a family of medical professionals it was so refreshing to see that kindness still exists . It truly made an unpleasant situation wonderful! My father once said I could find a problem inside an empty paper bag. Truth is I often do. I don't look for problems but sometimes feel like a magnet for them. Having said that, here's my little story. I was at HMC last Friday for a test. Zero waiting, zero issues & the staff in radiology could not have been more wonderful. I was on my way out and realized I brought mo money to tip my favorite valet person. He is a young, black, handsome kid in his 20's. He takes good care of me. I average 1-2 appts. there a week & like to show I'm gratuitous. I entered the gift shop and asked Anne Marie if there was an ATM close by & she apologetically said no. I left the shop and slowly approached the door contemplating what to tell my fav. car attendant, so I wouldn't sound like a total loser when I got a tap on the shoulder. It was a CNA with a name tag "Rosie". She was so sweet and asked " how much do you usually tip"? She said she was in the gift shop and overheard me. I said usually $2 or$3 . She handed me a rolled up bundle of exactly $3 and said here you go. I didn't argue i did thank her profusely and made a point of writing down name tag info. I was floored. These days, who does that?!?!?. In any event I was back today and after my appointment I stopped in the gift shop to asked Ann Marie to help me locate Rosie. Name tags don't have lasI think we narrowed it down & Rosie "I'm coming for you with payback but more to the point .. THANKYOU! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! I was molested in 2015 in the psych ward by a doctor on my nipples with his stethoscope. I told on him to the Human Rights Officer which is just a nurse on the floor not someone from the OUTSIDE. So it stayed hush hush. They lock the bathrooms on you at first its a PRIVILEDGE to them to piss or shit. My food was stolen. My bags were kicked if I slept in my bed during the day and missed a group. "OOps sorry" is what I got from the counselor. They are scum there. Go to Providence Hospital so much better. read more

It always comes down to the people. There were couple of truly friendly and passionate health care providers, but the overall care was at substandard level. My father has been hospitalized for few weeks with terminal disease. We often found him in awkward, uncomfortable positions, sitting in his own feces. I personally work in a medical field and this kind of state of a patient is beyond unacceptable. The very definition of patient neglect can been seen in this hospital. This ER is an absolute joke. Employees are nice but procedurally ineffective. Don't be expected to be seen in any kind of timely manner. I've been here for 4 hours with severe dehydration, from being unable to hold any food or liquids down, and there are still 4 people before me. They have only moved 1 person through in the last hour. And I'm still going to be waiting. This is completely unacceptable. I needed IV fluids. They literally only have to hook me up to a banana bag and let it's do it's job. If I was informed how bad of a wait this was going to be I would have gone to one of the IV therapy places, like Mobile IV or somewhere similar. I would have been able to get this taken care of in 1 hour. Holyoke Medical Center really needs to pull it together. I'll be putting a review of Holyoke Medical Center in every place I can review. And if there are Facebook or other social media groups I'll be leaving reviews there as well. read more

Now I have to wait till Monday to find out if anything is wrong with my son! They won't give me my record number so I can look it up on the portal and they all refuse to tell me because I have to talk to the pediatrician. How does that make sense? By far the worst hospital I've ever been to. As soon as my nephew was born they didnt check vitals, measure or weigh him. When the mother almost passed out after using the bathroom, they were scrambling like a front end at a busy mcdonalds not knowing wtf to do. I asked the "NURSE" when she was going to weigh the baby and she said, "I'll do it in a minute." When i came to the hospital, I didn't have to check in, give my id or anything. You can just walk in. ER Don't go there with an actuall emergency, my wife has PP MS and has had other complications with it such as ovarian cysts. She was there 2 weeks ago for a ruptured cyst which caused her excruciating amounts of pain. They found another larger one that had not burst. Well it burst today and was much worse than before. She waited an hour sceeaming in agony before they took her in but not before telling her they are not going to do this today like last time, giving her attitude and telling me I'm not allowed to go with her. I kindly but sternly protested at which point I was escorted out by security. Never again will I go there , take the extra time to go to Baystate or Wing. Come to find out, the male nurse that got her didn't want me in there because he told my wife they are not going to take care of her until she shuts up and that addicts are not welcome in their hospital.( wife is not and addict even though she is terminal and has every opportunity to be one she chooses to remember as much as possible and not be continuously "high".) Went up to the counter to speak with a nurse and this guy was texting on his phone, shooting the shit. After saying excuse me, he told me the wait time would have been approx 4 hours. WTF??? I recently had a colonoscopy at HMC and received the very best of care from every individual I encountered. The pre-op and endoscopy nurses, the anesthesiologist and the physician performing my exam were absolutely wonderful. Although I was quite nervous at first with a spiked blood pressure, all went out of their went to ensure me that everything would be fine, and it was. I would encourage anyone to consider having a procedure performed at HMC. read more

Another patient came over and said I wanted them to take your son before myself because he looks so sick and crying . My 53 year old brother died unexpectedly in December due to a fall and we are having the hardest time getting the Head of the Emergency Room to respond to our many request to change the Death Certificate. They listed the cause of death as a heart attack and it was natural causes. They never did an autopsy or anything. They don't return phone calls. Very unreliable with their empty promises. Back again for a muscle/tendon injury. Wait time was reasonable, considering I was in a lot of pain. New heavily renovated larger facility has more capacity, more and better parking, and more comfortable conditions. Dr. was a bit rushed at first, but then later gave me a printout describing my X-ray results, and gave me info to take home explaining my injury. Was released I now and have a follow up appointment with my regular provider. Would return again, but I really hope I don't have to! read more
