I say "fjord" because the region is within a "fjord" but the fjords one would imagine being in Norway are found elsewhere, such as near Bergen. Despite this, it's a great two hour tour, and costs about $40 USD. It's money well spent. You get great views of Oslo from the water, getting to see the water shore attractions such as the Oslo Opera House, but also the near by islands and summer homes. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board. You can pre-purchase tickets online or in person --- or on the spot, although some tours may fill up. Seating is on an open deck and available first come first serve, so be early for a good spot. They suggest one half hour prior to departure time. Overall I give Batservice Sightseeing 5 stars out of 5.

After a couple emails back and forth I think we solved the problem. Once we arrived to the terminal it was easy to check in with the gate agent and then get onto the boat. Our bags were not search before getting on board and we were able to get on the boat a little early. Once on the boat there was a couple of dining options. We ate at the Italian restaurant first and little to no complains. For dinner we did the steak house and honestly it was a let down. Fairly expensive and mediocre food, I would not recommend it. I think next time we would do the buffet or the Italian restaurant again. The room was small, and slightly different than the photos but it did the job. For a quick trip we couldn't ask for much more. I think I enjoyed breakfast the most- highly recommend! If you are going to book you might as well book a nice room because it includes the breakfast. We paid about $160 for two people in a large room which felt like a good deal. There are a ton of cheaper options on the boat if you are looking for a cheaper option.

This turned out to be a spot on choice, of which other cruise passengers we ran into agreed! CONS None PROS - Nice and very walkable Theater District location that is close to the water, museums (Munch, the National, Nobel, etc.), the Palace, restaurants, shopping, and more. - Upscale and nicely appointed throughout. The vibe is elegant, yet relaxed, with impeccable front desk and breakfast room service. - Amazing multi-room breakfast buffet, featuring about anything you can think of, including fresh local fish of course. Gayle and I couldn't remember anywhere better in our many travels. - Nice quiet (6th floor in a back corner) room with a balcony and a partial view of the Palace. The room was a bit larger than European standards, which is great since we had two large suitcases. The hotel is also in a very good location; all the major train, bus and tram stations are within walking distance. If you're staying in Oslo as a tourist I highly recommend the Oslo pass since it covers transportation within zones 1 & 2 as well as the entrance fees to most major museums.

It was an adequate, clean hotel room, but the price indicated that it was going to have something a…read morelittle special like a view or a great central location, but neither of those things were true. The room had a key card holder for the room key. Properly inserted, you can then use the electrical outlets and light switches. It was a bit of a learning curve knowing this, finding it, and then seating the key by pushing down hard so that it would work. Note to self, you can't leave your electronics plugged in to charge while you are away because you have to take your key card with you to get back inside. The bed was comfortable. There was an extra pillow in the closet. No view. The desk was oddly situated behind the bed, and the bed was in the center of the room. There were two lounge chairs and a small table. We didn't use the TV or the fridge, but both were provided. Upon heading downstairs for breakfast, we noticed the room door didn't lock when we left. It's a habit to always check the handle when leaving. Apparently it does lock, but not right away. You have to wait a full minute by your door to make sure it locks. I wouldn't recommend leaving anything valuable in the room, even when headed to breakfast downstairs. There is even a sign in the elevator that states this too. The bathroom had a tall bathtub that was slightly nerve-wracking to get in and out of. I thought I was going to slip and fall. There wasn't a shower curtain, instead there was a small glass partition that was supposed to keep the water in the tub. It failed miserably. Even directing the shower nozzle towards the inner wall, water splashed all over the floor. Being eco-conscious, the hotel skimped on providing extra towels, and there was no bath mat to step on. This exasperated my worries of slipping and falling again. We were on the 6th floor which was the top floor, so we slept well. Our room was far from the elevator. There was silence the entire time we were there. The curtains didn't block out all of the light. Some light peaked through the top. During the summer of the midnight sun, this can be a bit annoying, but thankfully Oslo gets quite a bit of cloudy days and rain, so the light that entered the room was muted. Breakfast was fine. There was an assortment of hot and cold items, meat and vegetarian options. Everyone will find something to fuel them through the day. Checkout was a bit of an ordeal. The woman had trouble doing this because we had prepaid, but we added some drinks from the concession stand. She did eventually work it out, but she was flustered and needed time to do it. Taxis and Uber were easy to take from the front entrance. There were also tram track out front, so getting one from a nearby stop was easy enough. If you book from a third party like Booking.com, don't bother signing up for the Scandic hotel club. They won't accept your stay as accumulated points. I wouldn't stay here again because the price was quite high considering the mediocre quality.

It was a bit weird that the mattress box spring was not covered by bedsheets, so you just see the naked box spring sides. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was fantastic. Definitely beats any "free breakfast" hotel chains in America by a long shot. In the lobby of the hotel, there was a chess set and shuffle board table. My kids enjoyed spending some time relaxing with those games at the end of the day. Kids also received a coupon each at check in that was redeemable for a free kid's mocktail at the bar. Super cute. If you are traveling with kids, there are 2 playgrounds close by! One is just around the corner still in the same plaza, adjacent to the train station. The other is a few minutes walk past the Opera house.

I double checked to be certain and she was the same one as earlier so I think she just wanted revenge that I asked her to look up our rooms instead of making my septuagenarian father pull up reservation numbers one by one. Yeah, the location is good but then there are a lot of other hotels right here. The lobby reeks of the cheap cologne shop.
