But ask a local person where to find Naneti's, and they will know, for this is Treviso's most famous Osteria. Here local delicacies abound on the shelves and counter. You can savour local wines along with the traditional local cicheti snacks, featuring bologna ham, fresh country sausage and ossocollo and selections of cold cuts and cheeses served on wooden cutting boards. Beppe and Fabio, the joint owners, immediately make everyone feel at home. They'll hand you morsels to taste and try if you're not sure what you want. The decor is hard to describe. No-one seems to know how old is Naneti's, but it houses some weird and wonderful food- and wine-related implements, a collection of ancient bottles, and the walls are pinned with newspaper cuttings and notices dating back to the 19th Century. The wines are arranged within reach around the walls. Just pick one and hand it over the counter to be opened. There's no seating - everyone just stands and talks - and the crowds overflow into the alleyway outside. You cannot fail to make friends here - I met Max, my closest Italian pal, here over a glass or two of Cabernet Franc. Customers drop in after work to buy produce and wine that will be their evening supper. They usually linger for a chat with friends. Go there!

There was even a booklet of introduction. The cafe has interior and exterior. Inside is elegant and outside is comfortable and exclusive within a courtyard.

The Tar Tar was fresh, flavourful, and balanced out with a hint of lime. The service staff was extremely professional and helpful. They speak excellent English. This place is an absolute gem! The rest is pure, incomparable, uncopiable Italian style. This Enoteca caters only for the evening crowd, opening from 6pm through till 2am. When closed (see pic) it virtually goes unnoticed - just a big wooden door and a sign so small and understated that you'd never see it. But when it's open, it quickly fills up with the Treviso smart set, who go there exclusively to drink wine from a choice of thousands of different bottles. I thought I'd be specific, asked for a local Merlot from the region, and was presented with a choice of more than a dozen! Housed in an old storeroom, the Enoteca sits on two levels and is very comfortable if you wish to linger and enjoy a selection from their cold table. All the usual meats, cheeses, grilled and preserved vegetables, olives and the rest are available from a corner counter and lovingly prepared by a specialist. The bar staff are attentive and some are multi-lingual. A new 'must-visit' when in Treviso, and straight in as one of my favourite places!

I visited the nightclub on a Friday night. We arrived at 11:30 and the place was rather empty but…read morefilling up steadily. The customers seemed to be between 23 and 40 years old. The setting is quite posh. Chandeliers on the ceiling, leather sofas and seats, empty tables that had all been reserved. An extensive collection of wine is nicely showcased behind the bar. In this part of the world it is common, for nightclubs to use quite a different way of charging than what you may be used to. You see, when entering the nightclub, the bouncer gives each customer a small carton card with little squares on it. Every time you buy a drink, the bartender will punch a hole in one of the squares. Only when one leaves the nightclub will you pay depending on how much you drank. Sounds acceptable enough, no? Well it is a horrible system and this is how I got to know the unfriendliness of the staff just minutes after entering. The tree of us walked over to the bar. We put our three cards on the bar and we chatted while the bartender poured our drinks. When we took our drinks we toasted to a good night. I saw my punch card still on the bar and took it. My friend said 'where is my card?'. It had either been stolen, or the bartender had dropped it. We of course checked the floor etc on our side of the bar. There was NO negotiation whatsoever on the side of the bartenders. The manager came and told us to come with him to the door. He called the bouncer. The manager left and the bouncer told us to pay the whole card. There are 30 drinks on one card! That is what we did and we left. We had been inside 5 minutes and we payed for 30 plus 2 = 32 drinks. Not happy..
