Try saying that ten times fast! I've volunteered at FLOC for several years, tutoring junior and senior high school students in Math and English. It has been a fun and rewarding experience for me, helping teens and pre-teens to improve their basic reading and math skills. FLOC is always looking for volunteer tutors. Tutors work one-on-one with students on either Math or English. If you are interested then consider contacting them. Training is provided. FLOC is currently located in Columbia Heights at 1763 Columbia Road, which is about halfway between Columbia Heights on the Green/Yellow lines and Woodley Park/National Zoo on the Red line. Carolyn is super knowledgeable, engaging and presents cheese in a non-pretentious manner, making you feel right at home at the adorable set-up inside Seasonal Pantry. I was a little nervous on what to expect the first time, but the class draws people just like me: cheese lovers that don't actually know a whole lot about cheese. Dan's homemade accompaniments are delicious and we have left two classes super full (read: do not eat dinner prior). I would definitely recommend this for a fun night with the girls or for a date. You can sign up for the monthly emails so you know when the classes go on sale because they definitely sell out quick! And of course, Seasonal Pantry is full of delicious goodies, including the cheeses that are used in the class. I can't wait to try supper club!

The atmosphere was that of being invited to a secret back room at a hip restaurant or a the kitchen of a cool young chef - if young chefs could afford gorgeous lofts with exposed brick. Carolyn dispensed a lot of information in a casual and fun way that didn't feel like a lecture. She included everyone from the group in the discussion and it was a comfortable environment to ask questions. The cheese and wine were great, but I won't review those since they change each month. The crowd was late 20s to early 40s, mostly couples. I went with my cheese loving husband, but it would be an impressive second date (with Carolyn doing most of the talking for you) or something different to do with out of town guests who want a "big city" foodie experience without the expense of a full meal and where it's ok to admit you're still learning. Overall we learned a lot and tried new things, but our boundaries weren't pushed too far. No super strong or stinky cheeses, no bizarre pairings. I would definitely take another class. Carolyn had the cheeses and foods we ate available for purchase. We were also able to purchase from Seasonal Pantry's shelves and I'm looking forward to trying the pickled jalepenos we bought. 6/5 update - OMG - just realized I never posted this review. The pickled jalepenos are AWESOME. Thanks again to Carolyn and her cool friends at SP for a fun night.

Taking classes at Speak Spanish in DC has been one of the best experiences of my academic life. I…read morehad taken Spanish in high school and studied abroad for a summer in college, but it wasn't until (many years later) I took classes with Speak Spanish in DC that all the pieces of the Spanish language puzzle started coming together for me. I found that after many years, I still had a lot of vocabulary hanging around in my brain, but I had never been able to string sentences together to have an actual conversation - until recently. I have absolutely loved learning Spanish from native speakers whose lessons emphasize practical Spanish usage and are also layered in a unique and rich cultural context. Unlike in traditional classrooms where, for example, you would have to conjugate regular verbs over and over for weeks at a time, Belen and Maria utilize interactive games and activities that focus on high-frequency irregular verbs and/or phrases that you can apply in everyday conversations. They have an excellent grasp of the technical aspects of Spanish which they expertly weave into their lessons in a way that still allows students to do the majority of the speaking. The material is challenging but appropriate. Belen and Maria are patient, funny, warm, and professional. I have looked forward to every single private lesson and group class at Speak Spanish in DC. Many Latinos like me know the shame of not being fluent in Spanish, but in just a few months, I have gained the confidence to initiate conversations with Spanish speakers in my family and in my community. I am sincerely grateful for my experience at Speak Spanish in DC. I highly recommend this company to people who want to finally make their dream of learning Spanish a reality.

My Spanish is basic but comfortable…read more I spent three months studying Spanish daily in Guatemala about a year ago and got to a point where I could carry a simple and polite conversation if I stuck to present and future tense, maybe some past. And now to the actual review of Belén and Speak Spanish: When I came back to the States, I wanted an activity that would maintain my Spanish, and I started taking classes with Belén. Just once a week, for about 1.5 h per class. I dare to say that my Spanish actually improved quite significantly, which is more than I expected considering that I'm comparing this to my 3-months long immersive learning experience in Guatemala the year prior. I'm more comfortable with past tenses, have a way better understanding of past conditional. So I'm happy!! The small group of 5-6 students makes sure you get plenty of talking time during class, which is crucial to my learning. Belén also organizes other Spanish-speaking cultural events, like happy hours and such. Great fun, and phenomenal practice. I would highly recommend her classes to anyone who wants to improve!

The workbook that Marks Education has created is so helpful and full of all the information you need for the test. Incredibly well thought out! He also gave me actual ACT and SATs to give me practice so that when I walked into the test I knew what to expect. He also had awesome packets and review materials, as well as previous AP tests to help me prepare for the AP tests I took Ryan gave me confidence in an area that is hard to feel confident about. He was a part of my team junior year, and I am so thankful for all of his help.

If you don't live in the DC area, I would strongly suggest considering a move -the area is beautiful and you would be GUARANTEED the best teacher. Seriously, an instructor as dedicated and brilliant as Shir is hard to come by. I've had a lot of teachers and she is BY FAR one of the best. You will learn a lot, and you'll realize that when someone believes in you as vehemently as Shir does, it becomes easier to believe in yourself. So if you want to expand your brain AND your confidence (and laugh a lot) you should sign up for her class right now. Instructor specific information aside, I really don't think you can go wrong with a Blueprint course. The lessons are well structured, and the online materials are incredibly helpful. I am not a gambling woman, but I would be willing to bet that by taking a Blueprint class you will increase your score -from my diagnostic to my final practice test, I went up 18 points! Now that's improvement if I do say so myself. So, future LSAT slayers, sign up and get ready to ~grind~!

I'm smart but not a genius and Natalie did an awesome job debunking the lsat exam and how to get over the mental roadblocks. She gave awesome tips and tricks that truly made a difference during test time when it came to tackling logic games and logical reasoning. There were times when I was convinced my score wouldn't improve and she assured me that practice made perfect and that my time was speeding up because I need to go back and work on understanding the actual material. Almost year later I can proudly say I'm a little over four weeks away from starting law school at a great institution. Thanks to blueprint and thanks to Natalie for helping me along the way. Let me also add that the online/app materials coupled with the in-class instruction is a solid prep formula. Very easy to use the website and definitely great having the app on hand to practice different sections while you riding the metro from home etc. I'd 100% recommend blueprint to anyone thinking about taking the lsat.
