Grandpa brought me here for breakfast while I was helping him with some heavy work. He took me out to a place in town I almost never go to. The only time I ever come out here is to visit my mom, and this place is past a turbo take to get there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was packed inside when we came in, so this is clearly a popular place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was relatively old fashioned with shelves full of Very old cartons of products and lots of pictures of old art as well. Simple colored walls as well. All of the tables had red and cream diamond pattern table cloths on them which helped add to the old style fashion. The chairs were all pretty standard and good to sit at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I decided to order the New York Steak and Eggs. The eggs were good. Well prepared and tasty too. The hash browns were also pretty good, with nice flavor to them to enjoy! The steak was very tasty. Well cooked, seasoned well, and a very good size too! Overall I was quite pleased with the food here! It was tasty and enjoyable all around! No complaints on my end! Definitely a recommendation from me!

If you want old fashion comfort breakfast with the fam, this is your spot! I have picky eaters for children and they basically licked their plates. My husband and I gave each other the look "oh yeah, this is the spot". Portions were American big. Price was generously right. Delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're at granny's house. Cozy and the attire is come as you are.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone was super sweet. Although they were super busy, still managed to take care of us well. Compliments to the chef.

This is our go-to place if we want a good meal at an affordable price. The servers here are excellent and always friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a "home town cafe" kind of feel inside with lot of booths for families of 4, and then tables for bigger parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is always good...great omelets and other breakfast items. They also have a good lunch menu. Portions are always more than enough.

Woweeee - I was not expecting the large portions or the great brunch from this unassuming diner. We were seated right away on a Sunday at noon. Service was fast and friendly. My coffee was never cold or empty and he food was excellent! Prices are good too. A solid 5 stars!

10/10! This was the best breakfast I've had in a very long time. Drove all the way from damonte ranch (south Reno) to try this place and it was very worth the drive. Our server was fast and very kind with our menu accommodations! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great prices and super cute on the inside!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Eat everything on my plate will be back again very soon

Just stopped in to get some food to go. It is 20 minutes before closing time so I just called an order in and picked it up. It was ready in like five minutes. Fairly friendly people, I love the phrase here. So yeah can't say much more lol

Burnt toast. I could taste it. Gross.

We've been eating at Hometown for decades, I remember when it was Curt & Al's (the best!). But we won't be spending money there anymore. The last few times we ate there have been borderline, we learned not to get the chocolate chip pancakes because they're so unbelievably sweet, it's nauseating. I can't imagine feeding those to a child. But today we were done. I ordered a sausage mushroom omelet. It actually had slices of cheese on top (see picture). Anyone who knows how to cook well knows you don't use sliced cheese on top of food. You use slices for sandwiches. The inside was so overloaded with mozzarella that after a few minutes the omelet had cooled enough that it became a rubbery mess. Think cold mozzarella sticks. Yuck. The sausage was just cut up links. Not so bad, I guess, except these are rookie cooking mistakes. A chef worth their salt (and training) would never serve an omelet with sliced cheese and cut up links. I'm just sayin'. My home fries were paper thin. Who cuts potatoes that thin? You could excuse it if they were crispy. They weren't. They were half soggy and half burnt, as was my toast. Hubby got the California omelet and he wasn't happy with his either, same cheap sliced cheese. He got a side of fruit and the sliced bananas were black on one side, too ripe. As you're cutting up food to serve, a chef should keep an eye on what they're working with, and if the fruit is overripe, you don't serve it, you toss it, or save it for something like banana bread. You could argue that perhaps the overripe bananas weren't noticed but they were put into the container with the black side down, so it wasn't easily noticed. That tells me it was done on purpose. And it also tells me the cook doesn't actually care what they serve. The rest of the fruit bowl was gross, fruit was all overripe and inedible. It wound up in the trash. The place was busy when we picked up the order, which blows me away. People are happy with this junk? No thanks. From now on we'll stick with Pegs. Goodbye Hometown. We've loved you for a long time. But all good things must come to an end.

Until this 4th of July weekend (250/2026) we had never heard of Archie's. It was recommended to us and we stopped in on Sunday the 5th for lunch on our way out of town. What an amazing choice. I ordered their bacon cheese burger. Guess what? It was GIANT. It was delicious. It was perfect. Comes with fries but I got onion rings. The onion rings were perfect too. Largest order of rings I have ever seen. The burger (1/2 Lb I think!!) had nice thick bacon in every bite, two large and fresh slices of tomato, a big old slab of an onion slice, mayo and lettuce. I can't remember if there were pickles. It was the best burger and onion rings I have eaten in at least ten years, maybe 20. We will be back, EVERY time we are in town from now on. I can't recommend this place enough. Special shout out to David, our server. This guy made no mistakes. Laughed at all my stupid dad jokes, was attentive, patient while my companions changed their minds 36 times, and was friendly too. Says it was only his 2nd day on the job, but I wish he had been working for us at our restaurant (Hokkaido Noodle House) in Sacramento. He is a pro already, give him reasons to keep working for you boss. Don't worry, we won't steal him from you, we are retired and closed our joint 10 years ago. Rock on Archie's! Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. Two left on my list are Armando & Son's Butcher Shop and of course Beefy's.

Brunch is all day on Sundays however they do have a lunch menu starting at 12pm, so we ordered from each menu. The ahi nachos were great, thick pieces of tuna and a great sauce drizzled over. When we arrived, every table was full, so we grabbed seats at the bar. It turned out to be a great spot to watch the bartenders create beautiful drinks, including some of their signature cocktails served in a glass purse for parties of two or more. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with groups celebrating birthdays and other special occasions. After looking over the menu, we decided on the lox crostini bites and the bruschetta. We each ordered a glass of sparkling wine. I added a chocolate rim to mine, which was fun to look at, although it didn't add much flavor. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed watching the flowing chocolate waterfall. Considering how busy the bar was, our food arrived quickly. The crostini were crisp, and both appetizers were fresh and flavorful. The only drawback was the volume of the DJ, but we knew what to expect as soon as we walked through the door. This is definitely a fun place for parties and groups looking for a lively night out. One last observation: I probably wouldn't choose this spot for a group of men. The décor and overall vibe are very much geared toward women, but the name says it all.

I tried the McIsley (fried chicken, dill pickles, ground mustard, honey) and nearly passed out from pure bliss. The biscuit is golden brown on the outside while warm and pillowy within. You'll need a fork and knife, but the menagerie of sweet and savory building blocks will come together any which way you deconstruct it. My wife tried The Chatfield (fried chicken, cheddar, bacon, apple butter) and was equally content. The Oregon Marionberry jam was a tart yet sweet customized side, and I much enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese to round off the plate. The breading is evenly blasted with seasoning and the tomatoes themselves are plump but not the least bit soggy. Without a doubt though, the service was unmatched. They handled a line going out the front door with class, getting us tables before we even ordered to remove the burden of seat searching and our food getting cold. They checked on the dining area promptly though they didn't have to. The staff's hospitality matches the southern inspo of the food! We sat outside and enjoyed the slight breeze as the heavenly baked aromas of the kitchen wafted outside. Overall, an 11/10 experience. Love biscuits? Run, don't walk!
