I was struggling to find an electrician for our garage project. My wife went to the internet and…read morefound KC, gave them a call and they came out just as we were beginning to pour concrete. After reviewing the plans, we agreed to doing the work. In March I reached back out to schedule them to start the work. It had been 4 months since we paid half down. Never working with KC, I figured my deposit was gone... The response I got was "Let's schedule this." KC Electric started on time, and did an amazing job in our rough in. He was able to run electric without drilling through our rafters, which maintained the structural integrity of the building because we don't have trusses; our building is engineered for a 14 foot open space. We were able to pass inspection on the first try, which is great. I did take a star off because we did have two rough patches in our build. After they pulled wire, I found the light box placement above the window unacceptable. We were able to clear it up and he moved the boxes. Additionally, we had a five week window to get our electric done, before insulation installers and drywallers show up. KC got it done 1 day prior to that date, which is great. Unfortunately, we were worried we couldn't catch inspection in time, so I had to move the next sub-contractors in line out another 3 weeks. In building these things happen, but it stinks when another delay appears. Honestly, KC was much more affordable than every electrician I've used (this is my 3rd new construction build), their work is solid, and it passed inspection. I would use them again.

My husband and I are new to the area so when we needed to find an electrician we looked on the…read moreinternet. We had been to Home Depot previously and bought two kitchen under-the- counter light units but did not know if they would fit,or how to install them. We found KC Electrical Services from Delta, a town close to where we live, on the internet. Two men showed up for the consultation on the first day who looked like father and son, but I don't know for sure if they were related. They looked under the cabinets, and said they didn't think the two units we bought would fit, and they'd order the right ones off the internet. They said they'd call when they came in. They did absolutely nothing the first visit, except trip the breaker, and all the lights went out, They both immediately said, "I didn't do it, I didn't do it", which was ridiculous because no one else in the house had touched anything. So my husband flipped the breaker back on, and they left. At NO TIME did they say that they would charge for the first visit or how much, though all they did was dawdle around and stare at each other, though they did take over an hour doing so. When they showed up with the electrical units on the second visit, they installed them pretty quickly and gave my husband the price of the work. We were absolutely appalled! They said $445.00! We immediately asked why his pricing was so prohibitively high. He said he had to charge for the one and a half hour visit the first time, (during which he and his buddy did NOTHING). He said that was $135.00 because his time is very valuable, and he has to charge for gas, travel time, etc. Then he said he was charging for the price of the light units and their labor, and again, time and gas. I know after working with many workmen in several homes, that it is customary for a service to state what they will charge for the initial visit, or consultation. If they are not hired for the job, they may require payment for the consultation. Many times, consultations are complimentary. At no time, did this KC Electrical Service mention any charge for initial visit. Then if a service is hired for the job, they generally apply the consultation charge towards the job. This is the most common practice, and I have dealt with electrical, air conditioning, house painters, construction workers, and on and on. In the opinion of my husband and I, KC Electrical Services is a rip-off and should not be hired for any job!!
