Been in to this casino at least once every year since 2004. The breakfast buffet has not changed items in 22 years! Same stuff every day. The bathrooms have not been upgraded in that time period either. One of the toilet lids in the women's bathroom has black duck/plumbers tape all over it holding it together! I have to agree with another reviewer that said the slots have been tightened up considerably. If you have ABSOLUTELY nowhere else to go, this place might be an option.... read more

We just stopped in to waste some time before we could check in to our cabin we reserved. I only remember this place because I used to see the commercials when I was younger. The Casino is smaller than I expected but I was amazed at how very comfortable the seats at the slots were. If I'm ever in town again. I'd return for sure. read more

The experience had its highlights, but there's definitely room for improvement--especially when it comes to side dish options. My wife ordered the prime rib and said it was good, but the only side available was mixed vegetables. Mashed potatoes and gravy would've made a great addition, and it was surprising that no bread or rolls were offered at all. I went with the seafood buffet. The crab legs looked appealing, but unfortunately, they were cold--even with heat lamps aimed at them. I expected them to be at least room temperature. The shrimp was underwhelming--it honestly tasted like it came from a frozen box, and it seemed like the shrimp and calamari were fried in the same oil, which didn't help the flavor. Again, the only side was mixed vegetables, which became a bit repetitive. On the positive side, the salad bar was excellent--fresh and well-stocked--and the self-serve ice cream was a nice treat. After poor service attempting to go to 3 places this afternoon for lunch for my family of 5 in Pine Top-Lakeside- we came to the Reservation. They had great service right off the bar- Coby was our server and he was greet and super friendly! You can tell they appreciate visitors and locals alike!!! I have some Native in me, from up North in WA State and I love to support Natives when I am in the areas. Such a lovely boost to a shitty afternoon attempting to find good eats in Pinetop but only to be faced with SHIIT service at the 3 places I had attempted to go to and checked into this afternoon. This is a review for the poker room only, it's only open at certain times of the day. On Saturday it's open from 4pm-1am I believe, you add your name to the board and that will determine how many tables of $3-$6 limit hold'em they will open and which table you're sitting at, it's got a very home game kind of feel to it. I'm not sure if they spread other poker games but if you don't like limit hold'em, this is not the place for you. It's like Cheers, everyone knows each other, I was just playing my game, everyone was friendly, not a cutthroat kind of place, very passive check and check back kind of vibe. It was a good price for the special buffet. We drove up here to checked it out. It was the day that they served all you can prime rib. It was fulfilling with the other entrees. The servers were tentative and refilled our drinks multiple times. After eating, we walked around the casino and hotel area. Inside, it's a cabin themed and the lobby have an outdoorsy decor. Horrible poker & blackjack tables!! They threaten you if you accidentally use an f-bomb. Also when you are winning money on blackjack the switch dealers notice & say things like " don't worry I'll win it back". Our Thanksgiving plans fell through so hubs & I ventured to the casino for their Thanksgiving buffet. We had never been to the casino & wasn't sure which door to go into. As we were walking from the parking lot to the building, through the glass door I saw a line. We followed suit. We were probably in line for about 30 minutes. It moved at a good clip. We paid for our meals, got wrist bands and we were seated quickly in the conference center. A server came by, brought us silverware & took our drink orders. Set up in the middle of the room was the food - plenty of it! Green salad, fresh fruit, rolls, cranberries dressing, mashed potatoes, ham, sweet potatoes, turkey, prime rib, oh my! So I read some newer reviews and I have to disagree. We had a nice two night stay. We ate at the buffet on Friday fish night. It was $26 a little of a stretch for not much variety but it was just ok. The hotel room was clean and everything worked. We spent time in the casino and Timbers show room. The service at every place in the casino was good. Employees were friendly said good morning and hello. The waitresses in both Timbers and the buffet checked back to make sure we had all we needed. Played some slots had fun and donated to the action. The rooms were nice and so was the casino as a whole. My only complaint is the customer service in both the restaurant and the bar. I waited on a bar stool to order 2 beers and actually spoke to a female bartender an gave her my order and was completely ignored!! I then left the bar area and looked for a cocktail server to order my drinks and was told there was only 1 gal working the entire casino area but was not able to find her. Therefore I ended up not getting my drinks and just going to my room to get a soda I had bought on my way up to pine top. I now know that if I want an alcoholic drink to just bring my own up with me moving forward. Sad that I have to do that but they obviously don't want to make tips or know how to be a good bartender!! read more

a group of twenty attended a concert and went to the indian pine restaurant located within the casino. the draw was the friday night buffet featuring crab legs. there were quite a few of us who had them but i wasn't one of them. several (ones i heard of so far) spent the night timr hours vomiting. one didn't even make it through the concert. my other half had the crab legs and made mention that they smelled like raw fish. he went back to the buffet to get something else. so beware,,,if the crab legs smell fishy, don't eat them. we won't be going back. oh, when we checked out of the hotel i told yhe front desk about my friends. it seemed to go in one ear and out the other. another friend also told the front desk and got the same reaction. read more

I must say this is a pretty outdated hotel and probably won't stay there again in the future. On the plus side I was in town for an event and they gave us a special rate of $69 per night whereas other hotels best rate was a $129 per night. The Room was super dirty and in need of a deep clean. Surfaces seemed clean like the counter and table tops but the carpet was super dingy. The buffet was lacking in flavor but they do offer 24 hour access to coffee tea and soda. Out of all hotels I have stayed at these were probably the softest the bathroom towels ever. read more

I visited Hondah Casino to listen to a band. I carpooled with friends and didn't bring my ID since I wasn't planning to drink. They refused ticket me in but told me I could hang out by the bar. I say there for 30 minutes watching people order drinks. Not a single person was asked for an ID. Soon 3 employees came up to me and told me I had to leave since I had no ID. Poker is like sex - everyone thinks they're the best, but most people don't have a clue what they're doing. I didn't actually stay here at this place or go to a convention or an event of any sort. We mainly stop in here to empty our bladders, eat at the Indian Pine Restaurant, and drop a $20 in the slots before heading next door to gas up the cars and buy our fishing licenses for Hawley Lake. So what can be said? Well first off, it'll be good for y'all to know that this place only has slot machines. I didn't see any table games. They have self-serve soda machines for the gamblers or you can wait for a lady to push her cart full of sodas to offer you a drink. I don't think they have a liquor license for the gambling floor but I could be wrong. I think I saw people drinking in the restaurant though so if you want booze, I guess you can stop into the Indian Pine Restaurant. Place has poor ventilation so expect to walk away feeling like you smoked a pack of cigarettes. Bathrooms are clean, I never win any money, and the clientele looks suspect. The place had not been cleaned for months! our room was filthy with debris around the perimeter of the room and dust throughout. it was disgusting. and the water supply ran out in the morning so we could not shower before leaving (and the staff acted like the water supply running out was a normal occurrence that guests had to suck up and eat it). ...wtf! We had stayed here last year and the year before that, and it used to be clean and decent for the area, but management and staff work has clearly dropped below acceptable. what was once a potential 3 star review for the Hon-Dah Casino & Resort is now a 1 star, without water supply it doesn't even deserve 1 star; it doesn't meet the minimum for a hotel room. Additionally, the address location for the Hon-Dah Casino & Resort is incorrect (par for the course i guess). I have lost hope in this place and we will not be staying there again. read more

This is a very unfriendly casino. I was showing a granddaughter the machine my wife was playing on when someone hit me in the ribs with his knuckles. It was a security guard. He stated in the harshest voice possible that no recording was allowed. I apologized say that I was sorry and that I was ending the call. He continued to stare at me as he had just caught me drowning kittens. He seemed like he wanted me to object or something just to give him an opportunity to detain me. I'm in my upper 60's. Really? This was all totally uncalled for. Starting with striking me physically and then treating me as I was scum. Nice customer relations in action apparently. Now for the others workers here. I have never seen an unhappier group of employees. They act like they're at a prison job. Save your money and avoid being treated as a criminal. If I could give less than 1 star I would. We went for the buffet. it was awful. We should have avoided "fish fry Friday." The choices were so limited it was unbelievable. There was grilled or baked tilapia, fried popcorn shrimp, fried butterfly shrimp, fried cod (it was way over cooked), fried catfish. they did have New York steak in bulk that would be cut off, but was undercooked for my taste; that was it for any protein choices. The salad bar was really sad and you had to guess at the desserts since the signage was nearly nonexistent. Service was awful. We had to chase down wait staff to get drinks and that was the extent of the service we received. We had no one come to our table until the bill was presented. They were certainly Johnny on the spot with the bill. Apparently someone expected a tip as the cashier asked about providing one through the credit card we used. We declined. i understand that food servers are seriously underpaid, but we received no service that deserved a gratuity. As for the Casino itself what a sad place. I have never seen so many games out of order. How can they expect to make money when so many things are out if order? I won't waste my time or money on this place again, you shouldn't either. lesson learned. read more

Booked a room as a Valentine's Day surprise and I will say the room was nice. Very spacious, balcony, mini kitchen (minus a stove), centrally located within the hotel, spacious shower with hot water, and the king sized bed was very comfortable. Pool, hot tub, sauna, and delicious room service. The cons were that out of all the staff we encountered only two were pleasant; Geri at the hotel front desk was very friendly, polite, helpful, courteous, and generally Very well mannered. The other was part of the house keeping staff (name unknown). Unfortunately the other staff we encountered were not very nice at all. A bartender by the name of "Monica" was extremely rude and did a very poor job of serving her customers, the restaurant cashier was unwelcoming, and the rest of the general staff wasn't friendly at all. We called to ask for a late check out and we were told "no" by whoever answered the phone at the front desk that morning. The other con is that the door to our room had a gap almost large enough to see through. Despite having very beautiful surroundings and nice facilities the staff was severely lacking for a business of this proportion. Rude, unwelcoming, and very unaccommodating. Two stars: 1 for Geri at the hotel and 1 for the room. read more
