I did notice that the few other people at the park on this chilly late Monday afternoon were walking dogs, the park is perfect for this. The front of the park is on an uphill incline, has concrete walkway. No BBQ pits at this park, you will need to bring your own grill for a cookout. Great for kids. Older playground in the front park, newer playground equipment in the rear park. Park also has a Youth Center way in the back plus some boarded up abandoned building. Large green grassy area in rear of park for sports plus I saw a soccer net. Park is encircled by the woods. Both restrooms have an electric plug above the sink & to the side of the mirror. Clean park, free of litter. Small parking lot in front, and an older parking lot in the rear plus additional parking along the roadway leading to youth center that is obscured by the neighborhood & woods. This park is much quieter & isolated compared to the waterfront parks in Daphne. I was here early, I was the only one. Only complaints: sign said no dogs, well I was already there with my dog, alone, so whatever, I broke that rule. Second complaint: there was a small broken window in the ladies room, so the restroom was chock full of those lovely Alabama Dragonflies that LOVE water. Other then that, yeah, it's a great park.

There are restrooms, but they were locked when I visited. The tennis court is in need of repaving, it looks pretty neglected. Too much trash on the ground near the parking lot. Saw other people on the walking trail as well early in the morning. My dog liked this park. Has a pavilion you can rent, plus other tables & benches. Unlike some of the parks in Mobile, this park is not muddy in some spots.

The park is named for Vince Whibbs. He was the mayor of Pensacola from 1978 to 1991. He they have a nice statue of him at the end of the park. Unfortunately there were no Sunday concerts due to Covid but 2021 is looking good. The Vince J. Whibbs, Sr. Community Maritime Park is a multi-use, public-private park development on Pensacola's waterfront. The Randall K. and Martha A. Hunter Amphitheater overlooks beautiful Pensacola Bay. The amphitheater part of the park supports a covered stage a "Back of House" facility that supports two dressing room spaces, & grass seating for up to 5,000. It really is picturesque sitting on that grass with breezes coming off the bay and digging the music, very nice indeed. While I am very fond of the concerts there's a lot more going on in this well laid out, well maintained and highly functional park. The Rotary Centennial Playground is great for kids ages 5-12 and includes climbing structures and more for them to explore and play. The walking path around the water makes the park perfect for working out, biking and running or if you're just looking for a looking for a place to walk that had enough room for social distancing and was by water, this is a great choice. Hey, love to fish? Well you can do that at the park too! Because the park is on the waterfront, it makes a nice place for fishing, there's even a fishing peir. It's also right next door to the Blue Yahoo stadium, the AAA team for the Cincinnati Reds. I know there's a bigger connection to the Yahoo's but not sure what that's about. Let me close by talking about our last concert in 2019. We roll up with our picnic, chairs and coolers and get hit with a little Memphis rockabilly. Wait I just left Memphis and I'm in Florida. LOL But it was really good and everyone was in to it. There was a very nice crowd, very nice people and there's free water and there's a Greek food truck set up on the edge of the concert area at the top of the hill. Somebody slap me LOL Very important note: The great folks at Blues Angel Music put on the free concerts and people are offered a chance to buy raffle tickets for some really cool musical instruments and other nice stuff. They do this to raise money for their foundation that provide musical instruments for schools and those in need, big kudos to those guys. Music has been VERY big influence in my life and I support this effort, it's a pretty big deal! Bottom line: Our last show was rockabilly but there's other genres of music represented by the water at Maritime Park!! You can bring a chair, your cooler and the parking & the admission is free. It's really cool and highly recommended for this weekly family friendly fun outing for your Sunday. This park was smaller then I expected, my dog was not happy about that, it was a weekend, so I was able to walk him around the neighborhood and school. FYI be careful, there is a home very close to the park with a brown pit bull that runs around unleashed without owner, that is pretty common in Mobile.

This is a nice, quiet, small, historic park located off of Government Street in Mobile. It has a…read morememorial, a fountain, benches. No playground or restrooms. It is very shady and cool from the giant oak trees. A great place to reflect, relax, read a book, think, or walk your dog. It has no parking lot, so you may have to park by the nearby businesses or residential streets and walk to the park. It is a short walk from Murphy High School on Carlen Street, which is a nice place to visit when all the students are not there. The park has many old Southern Homes around it, and other local businesses. There is a Waffle House on Government Street plus a gas station, Subway, Pizza Hut, and car wash nearby. There is an old, abandoned, boarded up church nearby as well.
