I absolutely ADORE the Honey Depot! The owners are incredible and make you feel so welcome from the time you enter the door. You are so welcomed by their adorable toy poodle "Honey." The store is comprised of several rooms rooms with neat and unique items, It's a place where you can find just about anything for anyone. It's fun to go in and browse. You can spend hours looking at their vast array of products. I particularly love to support small businesses and especially those that provide excellent customer service. read more

I have been here a couple times with my mother-in-law, and it is actually a really cool little store. You almost think it's a junk shop, but if you really take time to look around there is a bunch of cool and high quality stuff. They have the greatest selection of candles. Strange, but it's true. There are a lot of little trinkets as well as things like jewelry and decorations for different occasions. They also have a food section with a lot of New Mexico style foods. Like you can buy chili powders, soup mixes, that sort of thing. And of course they have the requisite chili decorator items, which are everywhere in New Mexico. Honey Depot usually has something for everyone on your list and is a good place for last-minute gifts, as they have a large selection of specialty foods, snacks, lotions, etc., in addition to traditional gifts. The only reason I have to rate it three stars rather than four is the prices. Some of the items are very expensive, and I have often found that purchasing an item I've seen in Honey Depot online is still cheaper even after shipping and handling. I know that mom-and-pop places need to mark up to survive, but sometimes it seems like Honey Depot is a little overly marked up. Particularly now that it is essentially Artesia's only gift shop after the closing of Anne's, a trip to purchase more than just one or two small gifts can get VERY expensive in a hurry! read more

This is a wonderful store! I used to live in Artesia and shopped regularly at The Honey Depot. You can find all sorts of wonderful gift items there and the owners are fantastic! Ann and Virgil are friendly, helpful, and will order items for you if you can't find exactly what you're looking for. You can find brand names like WoodWick, Montana Silversmith, Gooseberry Patch, Bear Creek Candles, Jelly Bellies, Day Spring cards, and on and on. They also have wedding and baby gift registries. Neat food and cooking items are regularly stocked and the selection of lotions and bath items is great. Personally, my favorite part of the store is the Christmas room which is open year round. If you find yourself anywhere near Artesia, you should stop in and just enjoy the store and owners. Be ready to spend some time in there. It takes a while to look at everything. read more
