Then I came across a TikTok post announcing that it had opened to the public as a speakeasy, so we decided to visit on a Thursday at 5:00 p.m., right when they opened. The experience begins in a small glass-enclosed entryway where you're greeted before the hostess is notified by radio. Moments later, the glass door opens, revealing a beautifully designed speakeasy with an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The space offers comfortably spaced bar seating, cozy booths, and tables, all surrounded by tasteful décor that perfectly captures the speakeasy era while incorporating subtle honeycomb-inspired touches. The spirit selection is impressive, and the appetizer menu is thoughtfully curated. Their specialty cocktails are creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. We sat at the bar, where our mixologist, Kalika B, was both personable and professional. I always enjoy sitting at the bar when the bartender is willing to share their craft, and Kalika did exactly that. She explained the story behind several of their custom cocktails, the history of some of their spirits, their signature custom ice program, and offered excellent appetizer recommendations. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. The entire space was spotless and clearly designed with great attention to detail. It filled up quickly after opening, so I was glad we arrived when we did. Despite the growing crowd, there appeared to be plenty of staff, and the service remained attentive without ever making guests feel rushed. There is only one restroom, but during our visit it was never an issue, and there was no wait. I've been chasing speakeasies for more than 20 years, long before they became as popular as they are today. Whenever I travel, I make it a point to seek out a local speakeasy, so I've experienced quite a few over the years. Honeycomb ranks near the top of my list. It's the perfect size--not too small and not too large--with an outstanding selection of spirits, exceptional craft mocktails, knowledgeable mixologists who truly know their craft, and cocktails tailored to your palate. The atmosphere is elegant yet approachable, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality of the experience. Here's what we tried: Cusco Comb (1000/10): Absolutely one of the best cocktails I've ever had. It was sweet, strong, and incredibly smooth without the alcohol being overpowering. I loved it so much that I immediately ordered a second one. I would honestly come back just for this drink alone. Honeycomb After Dark (9/10): Such a fun twist on an espresso martini! It reminded me of a Vietnamese coffee with a boozy kick. As the ice cream melted, the drink became even creamier and more delicious. Gin & Tonic (6/10): I'm not personally a gin and tonic fan, but my sister really enjoyed it. She thought the ratio of gin to tonic was spot on. Came here with two friends yesterday. We arrived at 5pm, which is when they open. We had the choice of sitting at the bar or at a table. We opted for the table. The inside is dimly lit and decorated elegantly. I liked the inclusion of honeycombs in the lighting fixtures and even the ice in my drink. The darks and golds almost give Great Gatsby vibes. We all ordered a different cocktail from their signature menu. I got the Electric Nectar. The drink was a little tart and sour. The Buzzed & Bougie was very floral, and The Cusco Comb had a nice balance of flavors. Out of the 3, the Electric Nectar was probably the strongest in terms of tasting the alcohol. I don't particularly prefer sour drinks. If I were to re-order, I would get the Cusco Comb, as it fits my taste profile the most. We also ordered the Burrata to share. So, this place is really cute! I'm not a super big fan of waiting in a long line to get in, which is partly why I didn't rate it 5 stars. My husband also didn't really love his drink. I tried it and it was not my favorite, either. He actually didnt even drink it all. I found this place on Instagram and came out for drinks one night it's somewhat of a hidden door as it is a speakeasy so come prepared with the password. We only had to wait a few minutes on an early Friday evening, but got in fairly quickly. From the entrance to the bathroom to the seats, everything was just so cute. The cocktails here are pricier but I would come back for special occasions or when we have visitors. They had signature drinks but also a limited specials menu. The mirrored entrance room is really unique, and once inside, the place feels stylish and cozy, though the lounge area does get a bit tight, especially on a busy Friday night. The giant, glowing Christmas tree in the middle of the lounge and Christmas carols playing in the background made the whole place feel warm and festive. The smoked old fashioned lived up to its name and was extremely smoky, which will appeal to anyone who enjoys bold, heavy smoke flavors. The only downside was the service. Even though it was busy, the attention lagged, and we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our drinks, which took away from the experience. New speakeasy in downtown Livermore! I had a great time so buckle up, I got a lot to say friends. I know speakeasy's are meant to be secret but I'm spilling the beans for y'all. They're located in the alleyway between The Holiday store and Locanda Wine Bar. We came for date night on a Friday evening around 8:00pm and there were two parties ahead of us in line. We waited about 10 minutes and at the front, the bouncer asked us for the password (hint...follow their Instagram!) and we entered a little alcove where a hidden door opened. We were seated at a cute table, though I will note that when they're at max capacity, you won't have a choice of table as they have two standing tables for parties of 4 or less. They have bar seating and cozy booths too! I don't believe they take reservations at the moment since they recently opened, but I will hop on that so fast once it's active. I loooooove themed bars and Honeycomb Cocktail Lounge was a dream. It is so thoughtfully decorated as a homage to honeycomb! The light fixtures that look like dripping beeswax, honeycomb pattern lamps, hexagon shaped shelves...there's some variation of honey in the cocktails too! I even noticed the orange peel in my husband's old fashioned was cut out into a hexagon...I was so giddy can't you tell with all my pictures of his smoky drink :P The menu is a book!! Like wow, 46 pages (at least). If you're a fan of tasting different or hard to find alcohol, this is your spot. Our waiter (Zac? So sorry I am truly hard of hearing) was swift in recommending his favorite cocktails. For bourbon, his top choice was Boulevardier so we'll try that next time! For their signature drinks, he recommended Roya Jelly No.5 and Queen's Elixir, Sweet Sting for Mezcal lovers (also digging these themed drink names). I personally think the Hive Mind is out to get you with the Baijiu but maybe one day I'll be curious enough...lol Roya Jelly No.5 ($18): The melon is strong in this one and I loved it! I tasted the pineapple and honey too. Really had to resist chugging it. And the best surprise of all, it came with a stainless steel straw!!! Not a paper one that will melt in 30 seconds!!! Gosh the things we get excited for these days but this truly made my day hahaha Beeswax Old Fashioned ($20): This drink came with the option to add smoke! It was so cool and I wish I had ample lighting to take a video because I was mesmerized. The drink itself was very strong but silky smooth with a hint of smoke, of course. It had bee pollen in it, which I didn't know was edible! Price wise the drinks are definitely a treat, but I see it as the experience is included. You don't often find these ingredients in typical cocktails (I think) so this is some fancy curating and bartending. You can tell each drink recipe was thoughtfully taste tested. He would've made our whole experience and would've made this a five star review however that was one of the only problems with our visit was our waitress., she seemed like she couldn't be bothered with us. There is a doorman and you have to know the password to get in which changes frequently. You can check their Instagram to find out what the current password is before you go. The dimly lit room gives all the vibes and the place is packed starting on Thursdays. I went on a Tuesday which allowed me to see the place and not having to worry about it being over crowded. They offer delicious small bites so if you're looking for a meal I suggest you eat before hand and make this your after spot. I enjoyed tapas and some of the most delicious cocktails I've ever had! Ask for the purple drink with chili oil; you won't be disappointed. I loved all the small details like monogrammed ice cubes. We racked up a $800 bill but we were in great company, great drinks, and great food so totally worth it. I'm not sure if they have music on the weekend but if they do then it would be perfect! The music was turned down, the waiters were informative and playful, and even with the kitchen closed we were given nuts (after food serving hours and cold- but with an explanation of why they stop serving at a specific time.) The space itself is beautiful and impeccably decorated. But honestly the ambiance lacked warmth. It was incredibly loud and a bit chaotic.
