For what this is it's a decent Chinese buffet. The price is nice. Lunch is really cheap and you grab to go container for $5.50 a pound. It's not bad for the price and you are getting a Chinese buffet that tastes decent. If you're hungry for Chinese buffet this is not a bad option. Food tastes average. Atmosphere was bland. It's gives off the vibe of a Chinese buffet that has definitely seen better days. Rips in the cushions and things just looks like it hasn't been cared for in awhile. Service was really good though. For $10 you can't go wrong! The hot and sour soup is good plus they had a spicy chili oil that you could add to it if you wanted it spicier. Swirl ice cream was good: I asked them if I can come back and pay one dollar get one without the buffet and they said it's OK. Mac Donald does not have swirl ice cream. I want to give 3.5 stars but I'm forced to round up. Here's the thing: there just aren't that many good Asian buffets in town and if there are, I probably don't live close enough to it. I would say this place is a solid 3 stars for MN standard and I give another star bc it's close to where I live and the soft serve is on point. The food has all your usual suspects for a Chinese buffet. The pleasant surprise was probably the crab, which I wish I knew where the cracking tools were. (I found them after the fact). All the dishes were adequate but I've definitely had better. But it was a good dinner bc my kids liked it and we filled our bellies. Also there is a super diverse clientele which I usually use as a gauge of how authentic a restaurant is. We will probably come back if we have a craving for Chinese buffet. read more

It's standard, run-of-the-mill chinese. These places are a dime a dozen and there's nothing special to make this place stand out. Still, it wasn't bad even if it wasn't memorable. I got full for a reasonable price off a variety of dishes. The place was clean and neat - and the bathrooms were in order. The dishes were routinely refreshed as the buffet was emptied. There were two rows of entrees and one row of desserts. Overall, if you're in the area and hungry for Chinese, it's probably your go-to spot. My best friend and I used to wait at home for my mother to come home and beg her to take us here. It is by no means traditional Asian food. You can expect the Americanized buffet style of dining; however, they have a large assortment of different dishes to choose from and serve different types of food at lunch and dinner. The garlic green beans in black curd sauce are very flavorful. Their seafood combo is packed full of vegetables and creatures with exoskeletons. YUM! The difference between many of their dishes, especially the seafood is that it tastes fresher. They are always refreshing the platters. Lately the place has become a bit too pricey, but I still enjoy the atmosphere and the owner and his family are very friendly and quick to wipe up spills created by small children. read more

I have been an off and on diner at Hong Kong Buffet for many years now. I used to live in the area and it was very convenient, these days not as much. I still like to pop in when I can because they have a nice variety of dishes and the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxing. My kids have grown up going to Hong Kong as well, and having two very particular eaters who don't often eat the same things, they both manage to find what they like here. I personally like the stuffed mushrooms, Beef and Mushrooms (yes there is a theme here!) as well as the Peanut Chicken and the Mai Fun noodles among many other dishes. Very recently my Daughter for her 16th birthday when given the choice of any dinner she would like, chose chinese. We contemplated take out in our area but for the simple plain fried rice, plain lo mein noodles and cream cheese puffs she wanted it would have been $25 minimum just for her food. I decided even though it was well out of my way to drive over to Hong Kong Buffet for a take out buffet box that would be much more cost effective. As I was checking out I struck up a conversation with the charming woman running the counter that night. I was telling her how my daughter is a somewhat picky eater and they were saving me a lot of money by having the take out buffet. When she asked me how old my daughter was I told her that she was actually 16 just today. What happened next made my day. The woman very excitedly said that she wanted my daughter to have a gift and that the dinner would be on her. She absolutely didn't have to do that for us, but it really fits the welcoming atmosphere that i have always felt coming to Hong Kong Buffet. There may be bigger, more impressive looking chinese buffets with hundreds of items and fancy this and that, but Hong Kong continues to get my business for not only the good food but the friendly staff and the relaxed atmosphere. I know that most of my reviews are typically negative, though that's only because I'm let down so much. This place has the possibility to be great, it really, truly does. It just isn't or seemingly doesn't care to be. The food, while some things were ok, others were not. Compare the salt and pepper shrimp here to that at the 98 Pounds Buffet in Bloomington. It's an entirely different experience. Here, it just seems like they purchased some peel and eat shrimp from the Hyvee next door and put some seasoning on it. I had my daughter with me, so the chocolate milk running out and there only being milky vanilla soft serve did not go over well. My personal favorite was the old, fat man scolding other people's children about taking to much shrimp, then he himself spent five minutes digging through very watered crab legs (also a disappointment) with his fingers... Yeah, I'll never go back. I used to eat here all the time when I lived in the area, and I loved the food. The General Tso's Chicken used to be some of the best I've ever had... But lately the quality and flavor of the food has gone downhill, while the prices have continued to go up. The only thing that was even remotely like it used to be was the beef with broccoli, and it's pretty hard to mess that up in the first place. The food is pretty good...but I think we'll be looking for a new Chinese delivery. I recently placed an online order and received a confirmation email afterwards. The delivery time is usually 45 mins-an hour, so after about an hour and a half of waiting, I called to check on the status. The man that answered asked for my address and immediately replied that it was on the way. After another half hour and no delivery person yet, I called back. This time a woman answered and asked for my address and phone number and proceeds to tell me that they don't actually have an order for me! When I explained that I had a confirmation email, she tells me that their website doesn't always work..... they took the order and delivered it within about a half hour...but no compensation for the bad experience that was had. If you have issues with your website, then I think it's time to remove the online order portion. I think it's time for a new Chinese Delivery! read more

I've been going to this little Chinese buffet for several years because of its excellent food and great price. Their Lo Mein is my absolute favorite. The buffet is a little small but still covers what one would expect to find. The prices are normal for dining in, but one can get a steal if buying takeout. I give this place 5 stars for many reasons. They have a small selection of food but it is ALWAYS hot and fresh and tasty. The place is very clean and the staff is always friendly. A young husband and wife team own this place and are always nice and remember faces so it feels like home when we go there. A big plus is you can get your own beverages. Not sure why other places don't have this too...no waiting for anyone to fill your drink you just do it yourself. Their take out is exceptional. I recently placed a big order of general tso, seafood combination, Singapore mei fun, and pork fried rice. Food was AMAZING! Best Singapore mei fun I have ever had and they do not skimp with the shrimp, chicken and pork added to their take out food. I had about 2 dozen nice sized shrimp in my seafood combo and it was 12 bucks. 40 bucks for take out and 6 of us ate and got full. I have ate at other Chinese places with bigger selections but quality seems to go downhill with the bigger places like tempanyaki and super moon (whom we don't go to anymore because their food is always ice cold...not sure why this place hasn't been shut down from food poisoning because hot food standing for long periods only at room temperature is dangerous and will get people sick!). Hong Kong always HOT food and always ends up being my fave. Their peel and eat shrimp is to die in their buffet and their fried chicken drummies are the best in town. Egg foo yong and general tso VERY good! Give these guys a try you will be happy! Great prices...great place! After writing this I believe I will go get some take out for dinner tonight. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. The flavor profile of the dishes served cannot be found anywhere else in the world, except China itself. The delicacies served are radiant and flavorful, and the interior design is exquisite. I feel as though I am dining in the Palace of Versailles. The meat tastes as though it is fresh off the bone, and the it does not taste frozen at all. The sauces are like fireworks once the flavors hit the tongue, with so many different flavors that oddly compliment one another. The dishes here are unique, and prepared and cooked well. DO NOT listen to any of the other reviews, they are all spewing falsehoods. This is probably one of the best buffets in the state of Minnesota, absolutely divine. The price of the place only adds to the greatness, as it is probably one of the cheapest costing buffets you will find, and the beverage is included with your meal! The service is always friendly, and I feel as though I can confide in some of the workers. The environment feels quaint, cozy and gentle, and the waterfall that greets you as you walk in adds a touch that cannot be rivaled in other buffets. Inspecable. Divine. Delicious. Cheap. These are only a few of the words I have to describe this magical place. I feel as though I am at home when I arrive here. Honestly probably my favorite place to get good Asian food. I haven't really been to a place that is any better than this. It is also well cheap for the amount of food you can have when you get a to go box. It doesn't cost much at all, and the food is incredible. My best friends and my family also would give it 5+ stars and love it as much as I do. Incredible place. Panda Express and LeeAnn Chin could never compare to the complex flavors found here. I am vegetarian and I do not feel as though I miss out on flavors and excellent cuisine here. Although they have few, they have excellent dishes that include no meat. My father, a meat eater, absolutely loves the sea food and the other array of meats. It is a very inviting atmosphere as soon as you walk in, a nice waterfall and great service to greet you. I would 100% give 10 stars or more if I could. Definitely will be going here for my birthday, but also just to get lunch and dinner.
