This place if you're very very hungry is best for you, but if you're looking for something lighter maybe go somewhere else. Found this place through Yelp. It's located in a small shopping strip next to an Indian fast food place. This place got pretty busy during lunch on a Monday. The food looked fresh. I did ask them to make some more fresh chicken and string beans. The bbq pork is made correctly without all that sweet sauce which is how I grew up eating it so I was so happy to see that but it was overcooked and dry. The eggplant and tofu were delicious with the seasoning of the sauce and tofu cooked to perfection. The green beans with chicken were also cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The spicy orange chicken was soggy and lacked on flavor. The black pepper chicken had great flavor and chicken cooked to perfection. The broccoli in the beef and broccoli was crunchy but lacked flavor and the beef was tender and had flavor, so I think it needed more sauce. The noodles were yummy but fried rice lacked flavor. The cream cheese wontons were a disappointment as they were soggy and cold. I wish they would make those fresh and not serve them if they sat out there for a while. They do pile up the food though which is worth the price you pay. We would definitely go back but maybe ask for certain items to be made fresh next time. read more

Like many others, I found myself at Hong Kong Express after countless instagram videos raving about their portions and value. Firstly- they're located on Chapman avenue in Anaheim (this is the viral location with outrageous portions) The parking lot is very small so be prepared to wait a bit for folks to grab their to go orders and leave. The strip mall is very small and has only a handful of casual grab and go food spots so the cars move often. The ambience, surprisingly clean inside, the dining area is small, staff were super friendly. I will note when I walked up, they all spoke so fast I felt a little rushed to call out my order and items that I wanted (and for context there was no one behind me, I just think this is how they're used to working, fast lol) When you get to the register, there is a plexiglass window and a microphone that is pointed out towards you. I understand why they did this as it can get loud and they want to be able to hear you and you them but, where this plan fails is that this microphone picks up every single sound coming from behind the counter and in the kitchen so it was borderline nauseating to be in front of it for even the brief couple of minutes to pay for my food. The portion, yes it is as you see on social media. The food, honestly not great but, not bad. As everyone else notes, in this economy it's an unbelievable value. I split 1 3 item combo ($13) between 3 people. I say, if you're nearby, it's worth a stop to say you visited.
