After having a hip replacement, she is helping me improve mobility and strength in my new right hip. My range of motion has improved significantly and I'm feeling more confident in my recovery. She also has shared a combo of exercises and helped educate me as to how to massage my incision site to help ward off scar formation in that area. The absolute best use of time & money that I spent on any physical care for myself AND my son the entire time we lived in HR. I was introduced to this place bc my OB?GYN Charlie Chambers referred me to Dr Gerbi for help w extreme discomfort and pain from a fibroid that grew massive and caused tons of fiery, shooting, hot pain during my first pregnancy. It was agonizing and I couldn't see how a chiro could help, but that's the wonderful blessing that comes from a "western medicine" dr who's intelligent to regard multiple styles of treatment- from both the most recent and longest standing insights- as equally valuable to both patients and the community. Not only did Dr Gerbi give me A LOT of physical relief, she was also so reassuring and informative to me as a first time mom dealing w severe pain and some pre term labor issues bc of the fibroid. Every time I went to see her, I didn't just leave feeling physically better, I felt "whole person" better. The depth of her knowledge coupled with her wonderful demeanor is impossible to express. After my (big and healthy) baby girl was born, Dr Gerbi helped me w recovery and w nursing. When my son was born in a VERY uncommon position called face first presentation (not breech or sunny side up, entirely different) in addition to being completely bashed up all over his face, he suffered what's called a traumatic birth injury where the ligaments in his left shoulder were over extended and stretched way too far. I noticed he held his one hand w a tense and curled position, and that he didn't seem to both his left hand across his midline like he would his other three limbs. So, we went to the pediatrician. That resulted in yet ANOTHER referral from a different doctor, and yet ANOTHER WONDERFUL and helpful experience, this time for my baby boy. She treated him and gave me easy and relaxing physical therapy exercises. My son loved the time we spent doing them, and between treatments w her and the therapy she taught me, his injury was gone in a few months! It completely changed his movement and comfort. I still had trouble nursing him, a lot of pain, which she suggested I go back to the pediatrician for and get a referral to a pediatric ENT, so that they could check on ways to possibly make nursing better for both of us. We went to see Dr Olson at Providence ENT - also a FANTASTIC dr and nursing advocate. With the referral coming from the pediatrician, of course Dr Olson didn't know we'd been to Dr Gerbi. In the first few minutes of my son's appointment, he assessed that my son had lip tie, which was a big part of why it hurt me to nurse and why my son was never full. He said he could clip that, but added, "I would include as part of resolving this as thoroughly as possible for both of you that you also see Dr Gerbi at Hood River Chiropractic, which I realize might sound odd but when you consider that all ENT issues are set within the cranial structure of the head and supported by the bones and ligaments in the neck, shoulders, spine, it is-" I cut him off w an apology and a giggle and said, "oh you don't need to convince me a wholistic mindset towards human beings is best OR that Dr Gerbi is the best!" He said, "she's one of the BEST new mom and baby advocates in the gorge, in my opinion, second only to a lactation consultant, which would likely also refer you to her!" So!!! That's THREE referrals from different doctors in different offices to Dr Gerbi bc of how she's helped patients. And to be clear, I'm not remotely opposed to a prescription, to OTC medicine, vaccines, and so on, however those solutions to fall under "isolate and medicate" as treatment, whereas the entire premise of HR Chiropractic and the two doctors there is that you free one (or more) part of your body to allow the whole of your body to do it's best work. Logically, even if you do need medicine, there is absolutely no sound reason to exclude ensuring your body is the most capable it can possibly be to put it's own amazing powers to use, so go and visit this amazing place and let these people do their magic!!!! read more

I came here after having some friendly phone calls with their receptionist Missy, who was/has been very helpful in discussing insurance details. I had never been to a chiropractor and since I do a lot of activities (kiteboarding, snowboarding, working with preschool aged kiddos) thought it would be a good idea to check in and see how my body was holding up. My first appointment was with Dr. Holloway who took the time and care to connect with me, hear my needs and help provide preventative exercise ideas and advice to help me maintain a strong and active body. Instead of jumping on me like an old school side posture fixes everything style chiropractor (i.e. tom Vanhee) he used a variety of high tech tools and message. Very competent. Thank you Hood River Chiropractic for being responsive and empathetic! My husband and I have been on the road for nearly 3 months when my husband put a rib out in the middle of our road trip as we landed in Hood River. I yelped chiropractors and found HRC. I called first thing in the morning and Dr Gerbi answered the phone. I explained our emergency, that he couldn't move and I couldn't keep listening to the groans he was making, and she kindly fit us in! I have been seeing Dr Alex Roddvik for a few months now. He is not your basic Chiropractor where the session only takes 15 min. He will spend up to an hour getting you muscles in a relax state before adjusting your body. He has in-depth knowledge of health and nutrition. He is very friendly and always respectful. read more

OMG Dr. Alex is amazing. I went for a sports massage somewhere else yesterday since my lower back was killing me. I guess power shopping the days before must have done a number on my lower back. Hence the need for a sports massage, isn't power shopping a sport? This morning I still didn't feel well, so the massage therapist recommended Dr. Alex. I am so glad I went, I feel awesome right now. I feel like I want to go for a run, or more power shopping. He did an amazing adjustment and took the time to review all that was bothering me. The adjustment was very different than any other one I had before, he put some stim on my back to help relax the muscles and then proceeded to do the different movements. I wasn't so impressed with this office. First of all, the outgassing from the newness of this office was overwhelming and I was surprised they didn't use non-voc paint/carpet for a wellness office. But more importantly, Dr. Rodvik's prices don't correlated with his experience level, his first visit was fairly expensive, and I left not really feeling better and confused about how to proceed since communication isn't a strong point. After consulting with an orthopedist, I later found out i had a bulging disk, something we hadn't discussed at all, but for which my symptoms were correlated to...all in all, the office was a poor fit for me. read more

My daughter has a 5 week old who was having trouble with his latch during breastfeeding, and she was almost to the point that the struggle was too much to overcome. La Leche League and a wonderful lactation consultant pointed her to Dr. Gerbi, who has such an extensive knowledge and understanding of breastfeeding and the issues that can affect an infants ability to latch well and transfer milk. All agreed that a posterior tongue tie, and upper lip tie was causing the main issue. She recommended an ENT for the procedure, and did gentle manipulations on him. After his very first visit with her, she put them in a quiet room and helped get him to latch on. Her support and understanding helped so much! She taught her tongue and mouth exercises to do before his tongue/lip procedure. After it, she again helped to get him to latch, and did the gentle manipulations to adjust him. Sometimes it takes a village to get Mommy and baby going well, and she was a HUGE part in getting this Mommy and baby back on track.
