I have lived many places and this is by far the worst trash, recycle, garbage service I have ever experienced. And it's our only choice. How insane is that?? The customer service is despicable. From the guys in the truck to the people in the office that answer the phones, they don't give a two shitz about your concern. If I could give it zero stars I would. When I lived in Bend, life was easy. If you needed to recycle your old engine oil, no problem! There were several local auto parts stores that would allow you to drop off your oil for free. One, Baxter Auto Parts, even had a 55 gallon drum in the back and you could drain your oil yourself at anytime of the day. When I loved to Hood River, things got complicated. I went to every auto parts store and oil change place. Surely someone would take my used oil?! I was told by several people that our friendly, local recycling people would take it. Just make sure it's in clear plastic containers they said! So, that's what I did. I had a lot of oil to recyle by this point. I filled up one milk jug, an orange juice conatiner, and a 2.5 gallon DEF container and put it out by the curb with my recycling. And when I got home, of course I got a nasty-gram stating they couldn't take all my oil. I was fed bad information. Not only does your oil need to be in clear plastic jugs, but it also need to be in ONE GALLON jugs. I have no idea why this would be, but them's is the rules. I swear, they are the most overpriced and picky garbage service in existance! I wish we had competition in this town like larger cities in terms of our garabge service. Hood River Garbage Service - Clear plastic jugs is what your motor oil needs to be in. Nope! Clear AND one gallon jugs. How could I have been so stupid!? - Hood River, Oregon

Only garbage company in town which means if you don't do as your told they will NOT PICK UP YOUR RECYCLING EVEN WHEN THEY JUST SEND IT TO THE DUMP ANYWAY! Hood River garbage is a joke. It cost me more money but I told them to come get the recycling container and bring me a larger garbage can-- problem solved all my stuff will now go to Arlington and no more recycling for me. Woohoo that's a lose-lose for the environment. About the recycling going to the dump -- did you know that if China will not take the recycling or they lower the amount they will pay for it, hood River garbage just sends the recycling to the dump anyway! Call and complain HAHAHAHA THEY DONT CARE WHAT YOUR COMPLAINTS ARE THEY JUST DONT CARE! So I am now getting changed more because they will not pick up my recycling and warned that I may be charged extra IF the garbage is above the edge of the container. I waited 20 minutes on the phone and finally got to speak to someone who was so condescending and snarky with no sense of public service but rather as if they were doing me a huge favor to let me wait forever on the phone to have the privilege of setting up an account. Whatever happened to manners and a sense of service. Too bad they're the only game in town....maybe that will change one day...hope so!!! read more
