Came here about 20 minutes before they were about to close, and they were gracious enough to let us order! Service was great and food was great too! We got the Beef Soltani and Hook's Loaded Fries. Beef Soltani - I loved the Koobideh, it was super juicy and tender. Pretty standard flavor! The Soltani was a little less tender but still good. My go to spot for this dish is Raffi's Place, but this is a great spot to get beef Soltani as well. Flavors are spot on and portions are big. The Greek salad that came on the side was also fresh and complimented the meat. Hook's Loaded Fries - I didn't like this as much. Since I ate it after my meal, the fries got a big soggy. The gyro was okay and the sauce and cheese was okay as well. Probably wouldn't get this again since it lacked acidity. I added ketchup and it tasted better LOL! Overall, great place to get solid kabobs, I would definitely come here again if I was in the area!

Hook Kabob has wonderful Greek food. If you want it, they likely have it. The place is so cute and comfortable. You can dine there, get take away and they also deliver. We like to eat there. It is fun. The service is very friendly and they treat you like a family member. They make sure the food is right the first time and you get a goodly amount. They are famous for their kabobs, but there are other great things to have. Their salads, wraps and desserts are so good. They have great bread and their hummus is out of this world. It is so good and so fresh. You will love their salmon kabob and their and their pork ribs are just perfect. All their sides are great. You can have a little or a lot. After all, you can always take some home, it heats up so well. Enjoy.

This place is a WINNER!!!! Probably one of the best Gyros I've ever had! The pita was soft, the meat & lamb was juicy, I loved it! Very clean restaurant, and amazing service! The parking lot is a little tight but once you get a spot and come in here it'll be worth it! My buddy got the a Chicken Wrap and he said it was good, plus the fries came out nice and hot! The Kebab plates with rice looked really good but I'll probably try those next time! If you're ever in Van Nuys, this place is bomb!

My wife said she had a place for us to try for lunch. We pulled into a typical Valley strip mall. Not sure what I was getting into. We walked into a larger tgan expected and comfortabl dining room. Fortunately the A/C was on and working this August day. She ordered the gyros plate and I got the gyros wrap with a side of Dolmas. The food came quickly. I took one bite of my wrapped and immediately was wowed. It was very tasty. The gyros meat was tender and flavorful. I noticed the slices were thinner than normal and I think that is partially why the texture was so good. I remarked that the meat was less greasy than our usual Greek place. The dolmas were just as I like them. Very tasty. My wife cleaned up her gyros plate. All in all a good choice.

Had the chicken kabab as well as the filet beef kabab lunch special and it's a very good portion for the price. The fillet was very tender, chicken very, very tender and juicy. hummus and tzatziki were excellent. We had a side of the falafel which was good and especially considering the reasonable price. This is the best kabab I have found in the valley.

4/5. Went for a lunch. The service was impressive. He was quick and helpful to get our orders in. Chicken kabob and the beef kobedeh was seasoned well. It was tender/ flavorful and cooked well I love it the portion of the rice was good and it filled me up along with a small cucumber with tomato mix in a small container. Inside was clean and it was comfortable. The bread was a little dry and stiff. It would have been perfect if there was humus to go along with it soften the dryness. Parking was a little tough as it is shared by other vendors. Even street parking was by luck. I guess it depends what time you go. Over all it was good. I hope they keep this place clean and good cooking.

Stopped by on a Saturday early lunch with the parents and everyone enjoyed their entree! With picky elderly, sometimes that can be a challenge. Location: shopping strip sandwiched between other businesses. Parking: free! Just have to be patient if the lot is full. Vibe: peaceful and friendly with a TV playing in the background. Food: we ordered a variety of items, mainly vegetarian this time and it was all fresh to order. Mom got the impossible kabob with a side of hummus and baba ganoush. Dad got the vegetarian combo, FIL got kabob wrap and my husband and I shared the vegetarian combo. The falafel were delicious and everyone cleaned their plates! No leftovers and nothing thrown away. We've been back three times and the quality of the food is unmatched! We'll be back soon.

This extensive Mediterranean eatery in Lake Balboa/Van Nuys area of Balboa Blvd / Saticoy Avenue, near the Van Nuys Airport is an incredible gem with the service, quality and care to match that hidden shine. I've been hearing nothing but great things since they opened up their doors a full year ago today. Being in a shared plaza lot with other cool places, it's amazing that H.K. is number one for sure! You can order takeout, delivery (via third-party apps) or inside and they serve you up your delish on a dish food flare fair. From cool kabobs to salads, sides, wraps, gyros, plates, desserts, bowls, family meals and lunch specials... They've got a lot! Plant-based options for sure with loads of vegetarian, vegan and even some gluten-free by default options. Impossible Kabobs are juicy, flavorful and tender. I wasn't expecting them to be so well made the first time I had them and now I just can't get enough. Incredible Falafel, Tabbouleh, Dolmas, Tahini, Basmati Rice (with Saffron of course) and smoky Baba Ghanoush. They also do some fun things with their golden crispy fries, including loaded style, gyro, garlic and classic/plain. Free Wi-Fi. Great decor. Fair amount of seating. It's clean, modern and has an inviting layout. Fountain-style beverages with Coca-Cola-based varieties, not to mention teas and water. Some bottles and cans as well (Celsius, Kevita, Yachak Organic Yerba Mate and Bundaberg varieties to name a few). Hook accepts most forms of payment including a lot of tap and digital cash apps. Open 7 days a week from 11 AM to 9 PM, 8 PM on Sundays.

I am on a quest to find the best kabob in Los Angeles. I decided to try this restaurant after passing by this location several times in my way home. You order from the counter and fountain drinks are refillable. Hook Kabob is located in a small strip mall. The restaurant is nice and clean. Plus, the staff was friendly. The average plate was approximately $30. The food was flavorful and they give you healthy portions. Solid location.

This is my second time here in the last month. I came back to bring a friend as I really enjoyed it the first time. I like that things are made fresh here with good quality ingredients. I got the chicken plate and a side of fries. It came with plenty of food for two small meals (though I enjoyed it so much that I ate it all in one.) The chicken is tender and moist, the salad is fresh and filled with quality veggies. Their garlic sauce is delicious, and all of it tasted great with the hot sauce added. The fries were well seasoned and crisp but fluffy on the inside. I previously had their falafel which is crispy and freshly fried to order. Parking can be tight depending on the day. I will for sure be going back!

Came by for take out gyro fries $16. It was packed well and even eating at home 20 mins later the fries and gyro was still warm and good complement to the dressing. It's quite filling. Hook Kabob is located in a small plaza. There is a decent amount of parking. And it isn't as tight as other places. The inside is nice and really clean with plenty of seating. I like how there are a lot of space between tables. I got the Gyro plate. It comes with a mix of beef and lamb, tzatziki sauce, rice, roasted pepper and tomato and pita. It was so good! And came with free lollipops. It was a few dollars more than my usual place. But you really get what you paid for. Seriously, the meat was so good and the rice was moist and not dry. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu, which by the way was clear and had big pictures for all the plates. Good but also makes it hard to choose because they all look good! Oh and they have a nice variety of desserts. The owner Arnby (I think thats how its spelled?) was really nice. He explained how the've been around since pre pandemic. And I can see why. This place rocks and deserves the local support! I need to come back to try the Hook fries and Bowl Madness! Thank you for the delicious meal Hook Kabob!

Man I just went here and got treated like a pesaseant because I made a comment about the price of gyros at $16.99 & not coming with fries because I wanted to add feta cheese to my imaginary fries that I thought came with my order. When I ask the informed me that I didn't have fries with my order. I was like ok but for that price is crazy. The manager who refuse to give me his name but I got his picture got butt hurt and refunded my money after my order was being placed in the bag. How's that for professionalism? lol. They use pre cut meat and charge like it's off the wheel. Waste your time and money if you want. read more

I don't understand where all these 5 star reviews come from.. probably left by friends and family!! Ordered gyro, kubideh and dolma and they all were disappointing, the gyro sandwich was basically salad in a bread! There was barely any meat in it! The kubideh was made of pure beef (no lamb) and it was very dry. Their dolma is not freshly made, it's the canned supermarket dolma you can buy cheaper at grocery stores. read more

I found this place on Yelp and since it had some good reviews, although not that many as of now, decided to go give it a try with a friend last week. We both ordered the Beef Vaziri which is essentially one skewer of ground beef kabob and one skewer of chicken breast chunks, rice, grilled tomato, grilled pepper and a scoop of chopped onion, tomato and cucumber salad, along with one pita bread on top. We each also ordered a glass bottle soda and the total came out to about $30 for the plate and the soda. The quality of the meat is decent. The beef kabob tasted good but the chicken chunks were over cooked, bland tasting and dry. My friend got 4 pieces (small chunks) on his plate where I only got 3 pcs. I looked at them side by side to compare and make sure it is the same amount of meat, perhaps my chunks were larger that's why there was one more on his. Nope! Turns out they were the same size and they just put one less piece on my plate. We placed our order at the register upon arrival and paid before we sat down at one of the tables to wait for the food to get ready. The two guys working there seemed nice but they also gave off the type of vibe that they really don't want to be there. We arrived at around 8:25pm and it took them about 15 minutes to get our food ready. The guy working behind the counter handed us the food in a take out in plastic bag. At this point it was 8:40 and they closed at 9pm that evening. As we got our food, we let the guys know that we were going to sit down and eat real quick before we leave since we had driven out of here it way to go eat at Hook Kabob for the first time. The guy told us that they are already cleaning up and that we can't dine-in at one of the tables in the dining hall. I asked him if it would be okay to just eat our meal there since we had another 20 minutes before closing time and I explained to him that if we took it to go, then we would be stuck eating in the car or in the parking lot. With zero sympathy toward the situation, the guy again said that he was sorry and that they have already started cleaning up. My friend and I ended up eating in the parking lot next to the curb. That really killed the entire experience. I would understand if they were closing in 5 or 10 minutes. I wouldn't even ask to eat there if that was the case. So the reason why I'm only giving this place 3 stars out of 5. 1. The experience with being asked to leave 20 minutes prior to closing time. 2. The $25 Beef Vaziri plate is mostly made up of rice and bread with a small scoop of salad. The ground beef kabob skewer is at the most between 3-5 ounces of beef at the most. It's super skinny and super small. So basically you're relying on all the rice and bread that comes with the plate to feel satisfied. I was honestly still hungry after eating this meal. I understand that restaurants need to make a profit and that ingredients, rent and employees are a significant cost factor in the equation. Unfortunately if a restaurant wants to keep its quality a notch higher than some of its competitors and keep the prices within a reasonable scale compared to what they are offering, then they have no choice but to cut down on the portion size, and it's very apparent at hook kabob. Overall, it was worth a try and I have no regrets going, other than being stuck eating my meal in the parking lot. So here is my honest summery of this review: Are there better kabob places around town that offer comparable quality, better value and friendlier service? Absolutely! Chances are the next time I'm craving kabob, this restaurant won't cross my mind again. read more

I'll try someting once. Wanted to love it but sadly could not. It's just ok. Not as good as Zankou or PKG. Has Ventura Blvd pricing in a mishmash of a shopping mall in North Hills. Expect portion size to be on the small side. Has a big dining room but you can tell ownership is all about cost cutting. Oh well one and done. read more

Delicious but confusing. Had to specifically ask for tahini for the a la carte falafels. Asked for "extra" before walking away, and got two tiny containers of tahini, and only later noticed the 6 falafel wouldn't have come with *any* tahini if I didn't ask for it. The plates came with triangles of pita but no hummus, tzatziki, tahini, etc, so it was incredibly confusing why the pita was there if there was no sauce or liquid of any kind (super small container of tasty garlic doesn't count). As much as it was all delicious in flavor, the plates ended up feeling very very dry and not fun to eat. For the price, I don't think I'll be returning, but if I had a hole in my pocket I'd eat here every day, I'd just make sure to order sides of hummus, tzatziki, tahini or any other sauce... So yeah... Very confusing. read more

This new restaurant is THE BOMB! I don't usually write reviews, but when a place is this DAMN GOOD, I feel like it's my duty to share it with the public. For real! When you arrive at Hook Kabob, you first notice how sparkling clean the place is--exactly what you'd expect from a quality restaurant. Everything I've tried on their menu has been SUPER FRESH and DELICIOUS, hitting my taste buds with that perfect Mediterranean flavor I've been craving. Their kabob is SOOOOO GOOOOOD that on days when I know I'm having lunch or dinner there, my mouth starts watering the moment I think of their kabob plate, and it doesn't stop until I've devoured every last bite :) To top it all off, the staff is always incredibly NICE and WELCOMING, which makes Hook Kabob my favorite spot to dine in, especially with family or friends, so I can brag about finding the best Mediterranean restaurant in the area! read more

Ordered the Gyros plate. The gyros looked machine slices and was razor thin. The texture was horrible like it had been microwaved and turned to mush in your mouth. I asked the cashier/server about it and was told it comes in pre-sliced in frozen packages from somewhere. They have no fresh Gyros onsite. After a bite or two I tossed it in the garbage. Absolutely the worst I've ever had and a complete waste of $23 and change. Complete ripoff. Won't ever be back !! read more
