I wanted a firm that had an attorney I knew. After retaining that firm I learned that the attorney I knew had retired and was referring his cases to a new associate, who also eventually left. Handling my case then was a partner. I've since learned that the father of one of my son's children's theatre friends was an attorney at Rutter Mills. I feel certain he would have given my case the attention it deserved. And I'm also sure he would have known how to handle my emotions during depositions when I would cry because of the part of my life that was forever changed and the fact that the accident killed my beloved dog. The firm I hired recommended I settle for less than I deserved & had lost because the process was so upsetting for me. Rutter Mills handled the case of a former theater kid after his wife was killed in an automobile accident. I feel certain his case must have been gone so well because of the attorney we had both known so long. Finding out that certain things hadn't been done after being told they had was heartbreaking and made it very difficult to trust the process. I understand that law firms handle many clients, and I never expected constant updates. What I did expect was honesty. I made an appointment(the first of which Brenda cancelled so she could go on vacation) and dropped off my taxes. A week later I called to see if my taxes were done. They said I could pick them up the following day so I asked how much it would be so that I could have a check ready. I was told it would be $520.00 for the regular taxes not including the amendment. I asked to speak wiht Brenda and explained that I was quoted $250 and gave her the name of ther person that gave me the qote and that the person that gave me the quote told me specifically that they were putting the quote in the computer at the time I made the appointment. Brenda offered to drop the charge for the ammendment. I was still not happy because I was paying over double what I was quoted. My husband picked up the taxes and paid for them, however, I have sent Brenda several emails asking for her to follow up with me regarding the quote and she will not respond. I then had a friend call and get a quote for a similar filing situation and that person was also quoted between $200 and $300. This is a classic case of bait and switch. Do not use her services.

I met with Ms. James in 2018 when she became my godson's Guardian ad Litem (GAL). Ms. James came to my home to visit my godson on one of our visitation days. She talked and played football with him, oh and he loved that. Ms. James represented my godson's case for four long years and she saw fit that we should stay in his life every time we went to court, while the other parties were fighting to remove us. Ms. James is a hard-working GAL that doesn't take being a GAL lightly. I say that because I have witnessed her in the courtroom shedding a tear about her client. That's how passionate she is about saving our youth. Family cases can be draining, overwhelming cases and the GAL can get burnt out with both parties. If you decide to hire Ms. James as a GAL remember she works for the child and not for you. If you comply with the court order she will make sure you will have some type of visitation with the child. She doesn't believe in taking a child out of a household that they are already in, but if it's signs that the child is failing in society she will. Hire Ms., James you won't regret it. #WeWon
