The North Miami office is an absolute joke. I've been sick for almost 3 weeks with a cough and scheduled an appointment here to be seen by a doctor and get a chest x-ray. My appointment was at 10:30. I wasn't seen until 12:15 PM. I've been a firefighter paramedic for 13 years and my lung sounds had audible wheezing and crackles, I was seen by rn who spoke almost no English and told me that my lungs are clear. I asked for a chest x-ray and she told me they do not do x-rays at this location and that I would have to go to South Miami. I told her that I lived in broward County and she said " well I can give you a prescription and you can find a place on your own". An absolute waste of my morning, I'm still sick, no remedy, no apology. I told them I guess I'll just figure this out on my own. read more

Warning for self-pay patients Do not go to any of Dr. Hoover's clinics if you don't have insurance. If you are self-pay, they will push unnecessary procedures and tests just to make you spend more money. For example, I was charged for a full doctor's visit just to have my PPD test read, and they even tried to get me to do an abdominal sonogram that wasn't needed. Be very careful -- if you decide to go to any of these clinics, make sure you ask exactly what procedures are truly required, because they will recommend testing and procedures you really don't need. By far the WORST doctor's office I have ever been to. I have been requesting records for several months now to send over to Baptist and they have not been sent over. I have spoken to several difference staff members and they all give me a different story. Some say it's been mailed, others say Baptist has not sent over request which they have. I'm currently sitting in the hospital where I had an 8:45 am appt it's now 10 am and have been trying to get someone at this office to help me with an authorization, I have yet to get someone to help me. it's a borage of putting me on hold and transferring me to numbers that I have to leave a voicemail on. This has been going on the past 1 hour I still haven't been seen do these incompetent 18-25 year and 40-53 year olds that are texting and yapping with each other at that front desk having cafecitos like we are on their time. I feel bad for the owner of this clinic who must be spending thousands a day to run a Romperroom! Once again another Miami Doctors office that sucks.... but this ones really take the cake. Actually I won't even comment on the simple brained front desk Bimbos. For some time now I've had really bad experiences with the from desk mostly due to bad customer service and the common issue in these offices where they can't keep track of scheduled appointments. Common problems in these half hack "doctor's" offices. There's a sense of entitlement from the staff. Much uncalled for Latin attitude and no supervision from management "doctors". Screw that... I don't blame those simple brained twits.. this falls directly on the doctors that employ these idiots. If you can't maintain a respectful, professional environment especially for those who seek medical attention, you have no place practicing medicine. Where's the lesson on bed side manner. I wish I could give 0 stars. Not all the front desk staff but the girl that discharge me was so rude and dumb. I told her my address had changes and she still send my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. I wasn't able to get my medicine today because she send it so far. She was rude and talked to me with zero respect. I was very sick with a bad cough and fever and still after two hours in office I have no treatment yet due to her purposely sending the medicine to the wrong pharmacy. Love coming to this office. At first when you walk in it's a bit scary how many patients are in the lobby but it goes by really fast. The staff is very friendly and the doctors and doctors assistance are all very nice. I never have to wait long in the room once my vitals are done. Best thing is I get to go to their pharmacy on site to get all my prescriptions and they are cheaper than my local pharmacy. The young lady who works in there is super nice very helpful and makes sure to explain all meds before I leave so I don't miss anything read more

I gave 2 stars because the staff is actually nice and friendly. However, you will quickly find out that they are just trying to charge your insurance for all types of treatments and I received no follow ups for the actual treatment I went for. Dr. Hoover. It is not the first time that the same thing happens to me, but today I have already reached the limit. I had a consultation appointment and after waiting 50 minutes for them to call me, and additional left me 45 minutes inside the cubicle waiting for a doctor to appear to treat me. Let me tell you that the care at your clinic has dropped 80% of patient care. For this reason, today I had to go without being treated, losing 2 hours of my work. If this happens again I will be one of those who will have to change Primary Physician since as a patient I am not important to you. read more

OMG. Going on 2 hours waiting to do X-rays. 2 hours. They typically run about 45 minutes to 1 hour late, but this is just too much.

What happened to this place when they were on coral way in a smaller location. They were excellent Kayla Hoover herself would see you now. In the new location you always wait 2 hours if not more just to get a c pack and nose spray it's crazy. Last time I was here 3 hours I don't know if it's the wrong office manager but everybody's running around and I have no clue what they're doing once inside it's pretty quick but getting inside that's a whole different story read more

I like to make nice reviews of the places I visit. Today I can not say the same and the only reason I do it is to get the owners attention & take action in regards since it is not the first time that it happens to me and I have seen other people with the same problem. 1st . Today I took my mom to get a vitamin serum, she had been sick and a little weak, so I decided to take her to recover. Mistake. The laboratory technician who attended her, did not know how to catch the vein, imagine a 70-year-old woman, said that the vein was jumping, without taking this into consideration, she put the IV & neglected the patient, did not go back to check it even once. When I was able to go in to see my mother because she was getting so long , she told me that they had kept her there waiting for a long time and that she was burning. I called the first one who passed by and when she came she saw that my mom's hand was very swollen and with astonishment she said: this IV went out of vein. She went looking for ice, removed the IV & put ice on it to lower the inflammation. Thank you very much. The one who had put the IV did not take the slightest effort to come see what had happened to her patient. How can a person who works in a medical clinic do something like this to a woman who is almost 70 years old? Her Name Nieves, she should not work in a place where people go because they feel bad or because they want to feel healthier. There they offer not to charge my mom for the IV, Really? is that the solution. 2nd. I get a RX, they charge me $100. Weird Called my insurance and they sad no, you don't have to pay for it. Called and the front desk avoid me. Went there and even in front of me she said yes, you have to pay. But this is not the worst, The lady at the front desk turned to speak to another colleague in English, ignoring that the one in front of her understood perfectly what she was saying. How unprofessional. I have no complaints about the medical staff or the nurses, but the front desk staff make that medical office look like a factory. They need to understand why someone visits a doctor. Linked to the waiting time to be attended is a bit awkward. My intention is not to speak ill but to tell my story so that it does not happen to others, Hope my concern help DR Hoover to hire staff who truly have a passion for medicine. As Far as the doctor she is ok. This place is more like a weight loss clinic, they take walk ins all day long. Even if you have appointment get ready to wait 2-3 hours. The girls in the front are extremely rude, but of course are overwhelmed with the amount of people. This is like a factory. I agree with the person that they give people medication without proper testing and i believe that's why people mostly go there. I also see older folks in which perhaps don't understand that it's not normal to wait in doctor 2-3 hours to be seen. There are many medical groups that if your appointment is at 9, you get seen at 9 and out within 30 min. My suggestion is avoid this doctor! Factory Like place. read more

went today to the 12905 Sw 42nd office for a xray scan , paid the $75 and they told me to leave that someone will be calling me soon, this was at 9:47 am . Called at 11:00 they left me on hold 33 minutes . Called again at 2 pm they told me someone would call me back. Called again in 20 min and even went as far as to get the ext 1101 which is foe complaints ( now i know why they even have it !! ) and they transfered me to someone in the bird rd office by the name of Douglas who stated a nurse practition would calle me back !! Guess what they never did !! How can u say u help or are here to help someone with pain and not even call them back !! This place is such a mess from calling to make an appt u hear the call center ppl talking & laughing in the back. this is the most unprofessional medical office i have ever visited. the place is huge and clean so you think oh great. but they SUCK. you can never get ANYONE on the phone to help you. they have these fancy call answer centers with a gazillion options for departments and the NEVER answer you. i have been trying to get a referral for over 2 months for a Mass on my thyroid and nothing. its not a cold or a headache, its a mass and noone there seems to give a C***. also when you go for an appointment you never really see a "DR" you see registered nurses. so you give this loooong explanation to whats going on, they run test and when you back for the folllow up you get another nurse and have to explain everything allllll over again and again and again. the place is convinient for a quick check up but if you want a good medical opinion, DONT GO HERE. and dont try calling or leaving messages, they NEVER call back. they have a gazillion and 1 people there working and NOONE helps you! i'll stick to a smaller more private doctor. this place is awful! read more

I see that a lot of bad reviews ; however I gotta say I quiet don't see any of that ! I have been coming to this doctor for ab 2 years now! And b4 I couldn't find a doctor that really cared ab me and my health issues.... she has helped immensely with my overall awareness of my health, she helped me to care ab me and my health. I usually pay a very small fee but I get out and all of my questions are answered. As far as the reviews ab the prescriptions , I only get prescribed what I need and they closely monitor me n do blood work to make sure my body is able to take it, my organs. That's how I see it, n I appreciate them ! I suffer from several things and honestly if it wasn't for them, my health conditions would be very deteriorated. I was referred by a friend to go here. I thought that the check-up exams were thorough and helpful. It was an extensive check up. Luckily I do have an HSA so I could pay for the exams with ease. The wait time does need to be worked on - both times I have gone it's been over 30 minutes and it is claimed that I am the first appointment of the day. read more

This office runs worse than the DMV. Staff tries to be nice, but the way the office is run, makes the employees look stupid and lazy. Dr. Hoover your reputation is going down the drain. Your lobby will get more and more empty if you do not improve quickly. 4 emails and 3 calls just to request a med list. Some lame office manager named Betty that works from home, never returns calls. The lady who spoke about the large incompetent reception desk couldn't be more correct. I'm currently standing here in front of the reception desk writing this review... I'm the only patient standing here. And no one has looked up to greet me. There's a girl filing her nails ... FILING NAILS.... also they told me everything was covered by my insurance last time and I received a $427 bill in the mail after they charged $55 to take some blood and do an x Ray or something? I asked why they did that and the girl said "I don't know... I mean it's a new patient thing. We just need to do this." Most outdated technology. The girl doing the x Ray had to take the shot like 8 times because some thing kept falling. She confirmed it was a very old machine and that she wished they changed it.. I guess they just need something to be able to claim the insurance. Keila Hoover "compassionate doctor award"? She spent less than 3 minutes which is understandable I guess that's a doctor thing but didn't answer any of our questions. Brushed us off with a prescription for a steroid that I clearly said I didn't want and didn't even fully understand the issue before ordering a bunch of tests that weren't related to each other.... please go somewhere else.... I'm still standing here and someone just said "sign in on the clip board." I asked what do I do next and everyone ignored me. These people are a money making machine. Seriously they tell you "go to this room, ok get out I need space for someone, go to the next room, where you'll stand awkwardly and most employees will pass by you quickly attempting to ignore you until you're very in the way... then they'll tell you to go to another room where there's a next test. I realized that the people who were in the waiting room with me were all going to the same rooms. So I guess nothing is tailored to your specific needs rather they make you go through all the tests they have available to charge you the most possible. Extremely unsatisfied with service, technology, Doctor and price. OH they wouldn't give me my results. I asked that I was taking them to another doctor and they said I couldn't I had to get her to sign off on the results first... basically I needed to miss work, take the drive over there. Only went in to get a prescription for antibiotics, but was given a full work-up with Dr. Hoover saying it's better to be safe. She did not explain to me what she was going to test me for. Now I have a bill for around $330 for the full unnecessary blood work, even though all I needed were antibiotics. Extremely poor communication with patients. I even asked if this work up will be covered by my insurance, and she said yes. I was still billed this crazy amount and feel scammed. I do not recommend this clinic at all. As a doctor, one should not be performing unnecessary blood work for the sake of testing every possible thing a patient could possibly have, especially if it costs the patient extreme amounts and ESPECIALLY if the patient mentions concerns about the coverage of the tests. And if a patient came in for a simple condition requiring antibiotics, why will the patient need $330+ worth of blood work? On top of this, I have not received any communication on what the tests were for, nor the results. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Hoover on and off for maybe 8 years. I've referred family and friends and can wholeheartedly say I'm not disappointed in the level of care and service. Your overall wellbeing is something very serious and Dr. Hoover takes it as such. Maybe she doesn't hold your hand unless you need her to but she genuinely cares. She's thorough, she's efficient, and she's fast. If you go into her office prepared with things to cover she'll sit down and go over them with you regardless of the amount of time it takes. However, if you show up for an annual, without any illness, she asks you questions, runs the normal exams and sends you on your way quickly. I appreciate that. I've seen her give countless patients her cell phone number, if that's not a great level of care and service I don't know what is. I will admit maybe two out of the six or so women she has working with her aren't up to par. Most of them are also efficient and very sweet. Hopefully the other two will follow suit soon. :) read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Hoover's a little over a year now, but I will no longer be using her services due to her incompetent staff. I walk up to the large reception table and no one looks up to greet me. I'm standing in front of them for someone to attend me, and no one acknowledges me for at least a minute. Afterwards, a girl finally pulls up from her screen, annoyed with my presence. I explain that I had coordinated with a staff member to refill my prescription without a need for an appointment with the doctor. After I leave my job early to drive all the way down to the office, they tell me it's impossible that I need to see the doctor. I had to repeat to three women the conversation I had on the phone with the staff memeber, and all of them denied me help. Why waste my time driving down 15 miles, lose work hours to leave early to drive there, and then tell me that what you had promised on the phone cannot be actualized? Although my issue isn't with the doctor, I cannot be her patient if she allows this kind of service in her practice. read more

The P.A was great but the parking was a hot mess! I had to park illegally across the street at the Burger King and pray my car didn't get towed. The wait was ridiculous, it was basically a factory, people in and out, in and out. Staff was pleasant, like I said the Physician Assistant was great and the MA I had as well. I would definitely go again if I have to, just this time I'll be mentally prepared to wait 2 hrs and possibly get my car towed. read more

I went to Dr. Hoover because I needed blood work done (my insurance company was offering me a discount if I did and passed certain things like cholesterol). Terrible experience from the start. Appointments with her are pointless because its obvious she overbooks (money is obviously a key motivator here and giving quality medical care is not). Once I finally got into the medical room I spent less than five minutes with her. In those five minutes I explained to her the specific tests I needed done. I even showed her the paper explaining what I needed. That meant nothing to her and she went ahead and ran every test from A to Z via LabCorp. Perhaps it was the fact that she was very rushed (or so it seemed) and didn't take notes of what I explained to her. Once you get the results she won't give them to you via email or fax. Nope, she wants to double dip and charge your insurance once more. I ended up getting a $180 dollar bill from LabCorp since my insurance doesn't cover full blood exams (guess who didn't order a full blood exam?). Trying to reach anyone at the office to discuss this is next to impossible. In a span of two months I called ten times and was never able to speak with someone that could explain why I was getting this bill. In addition they once told me that I didn't need to pay that bill (who cares about my credit, right?) In the end I ended up eating the $180 dollar bill. This was the first and last time I use Dr Hoover. Hoover, if you care to discuss this or make this good in anyway please respond and I will be happy to talk with you. As a twenty something year type 1 Diabetic that has seen MANY doctors in her life for diabetes and other medical conditions Dr Hoover DOES NOT waste your time. If your looking for someone to speak to go to therapy. Not trying to be mean. But this doctor has a patient list of 100-150 patients a day. She's fast and to the point. Not exactly the most friendliest. But you have a concern and she will answer it. In my many years of doctors I've waited months for visits then hours in waiting rooms and after leaving doctors office was unhappy and didn't have answers. Doctor Hoover doesn't run a personal relationship, therapy office. She's a doctor that runs a big practice with many in house facilities ( labs, ekgs, allergy testing, iv vitamin treatment, etc) and needs to manage her time wisely. My best advice is get there with a list know what your concerns are and what you want done. She'll solve your answers. But BE READY, she's quick. She will not refer you out unless it's necessary. You have a headache, you'll get an MRI referral. No need to wait 4 months to see a neurologist and be referred out after. She's to the point and his an in house endocrinologist which for me is amazing. Be patient if theirs a wait. The girls at the front are all very helpful. I've had to call to rx filled and it's done in a timely manner dispute the patient volume. AGAIN...... I know what it is to see doctors and have to wait, my life has depended on it since the age of 12. If you have the time to wait for two hours for a rx every month , then go for it but if you don't then switch doctors . I thought Dr. Hoover was a good doc, but I've asked Dr. Hoover's office staff over 7 times to release my records, along with appropriate forms. They refuse to release them...this over a period of 5 years. I don't even know what blood type I am. I can't get an answer out of the staff.
