Who can resist a juicy, scrumptious burger or just the thought of it? That's what tempted me to check out Hopdoddy. I've been to other locations like Addison and Austin. And I've always had a good time. It's even better now to have one right in my neighborhood! This time I got the shishito wagyu burger. It's a seasonal item. You can find it only on the overhead menu, not on the laminated paper menu. I was happy to make this choice. I liked the chunky juicy wagyu beef. The shishito pepper added a mildly smoky flavor to the burger. I also liked the soft and subtly sweet bun, which made the burger taste even better. Just to make this like a healthy meal, I got a kale salad. The kale was fresh with a layer of crunchy crouton bits on top. It tasted good, but the dressing seemed to be a bit too much. But I had no complaint about the generous potion size :) Overall, I enjoyed my meal. The serving staff were very friendly and patient. I'll definitely come again to try the other burgers. read more

This was an interesting place - it kind of was like a shake shack with a bar, more formal dining experience, and better quality meat. I had one of the wagyu burgers with fries and a cookies and cream milkshake. Overall, it was really good. I don't think I have ever had wagyu beef before and it was delicious; very tender. The cookies and cream shake was kind of a bummer as it was bland and couldn't really taste the cookies/chocolateness. Probably could enhance it with some chocolate syrup. The fries were excellent; the patty melt wasn't bad, but the rye bread it came on was a little hard and the edges were a bit tough to chew. The wait for our food was a bit much and the same went for the margarita, which was horrible to the point I couldn't drink it. They have an interesting burger selection with everything sold separately, which means the cost adds up quickly. I felt my choice to go with the crispy brussel sprouts wasn't the best idea. They were good a bit on the salty side, but it turned out not to work so well with the El Diablo flavor combo, which was Pepper Jack, Habaneros & Serranos, Caramelized Onions, Salsa Roja, Chipotle Aioli, L & T. I love spicy food, and this did provide heat i wanted! The patty is well seasoned and cooked how I like it. The Cadillac Waygu was packed and hearty it had 1/2 lb Wagyu Beef, swiss cheese, steakhouse bacon, crispy fried onions, Steak Sauce, Truffle Aioli, roasted tomato & arugula. The burger was really good. We got a lettuce wrap and the queso fries. It was the perfect meal for my husband and I to split mainly because we both love queso and french fries. It was the middle of the week when we were there and the place was empty. We could have almost any seat in the restaurant. The service was great. Our fries came out first and they were perfect. The burger was the same. Our server was very helpful and got us an extra tray since we were splitting our dinner. The ambiance is great. I've been here when it's busy and its really loud and you can almost hardly hear each other talk across the table, but since we almost had the place to ourselves it was very relaxing. Normally I would do a 3 star in this situation but honestly it was terrible at the end. After our food we got some milk shakes. It wasn't very busy and it took literally 30 minutes to still not even get them. Here the Bartneder is who makes them. They get a ticket in their well and make the orders as they come in. There were 4 guests at their bar and 3 tickets in the well. He walked past that printer at least 6 times till we said something and it still didn't even get made. It took so long we canceled the shakes and just left. Burgers here are always great but 30 minutes for a shake will make me pick other places. read more

I like the bar setup and there is a patio where you can actually bring your pup. Staff - 5/5 - Very friendly and attentive. They brought us every sauce that we asked for. Food - 3/5 - I am shocked. Hopdoddy use to be AMAZING. Ordered the following: Buffalo Bill - 3/5 - Added habaneros and serranos. The meat quality just was not there. The bun felt a little older as well. Prime 3.5/5 - Tasted better than the Bill, but again, it just doesn't taste the same as before. I usually get El Diablo with an egg on top, and that was always a 4-4.5......Did I just order the wrong burger??? However, I have been a few times where they had ran out of the vegetarian patties or they just didn't have any. That was certainly a let down. Recently learned that Hopdoddy will be keeping the roasted Brussels sprouts item on their menu permanently instead of just limited time only!! Yaaaayyyy! If you have not yet tried the roasted sprouts, you MUST!! I've only tried the parmesan truffle variety but they have two others which I hear are equally as good and will try on my next visit.
