Very diverse, very loving, very kind, but NOT nice. Jesus was kind, but he wasn't nice. He wasn't agreeable and he didn't avoid conflict. He was a peacemaker, not a peacekeeper. This church teaches great Biblical concepts like this and helps men learn how to lead with kindness AND courage. The pastors and leaders here held me accountable for many years. Thank God for that. This church helps equip families by teaching Biblically practical ways to unlock the promises of our loving God. They never force it, but know what works and encourage it strongly... why would we want to live outside God's promises? This church taught me how to truly understand why manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous. If you wanna go to church and check a box every Sunday, don't come here. If you want to be part of a family that loves, worships and OBEYS God and his Word, get here and get plugged in!

You'll hear the bible explained, usually verse by verse, and the gospel of Jesus Christ made central while personal application flows from the text. Check sermons on the website to validate for yourself. You'll also find a welcoming body of believers who are serious about discipleship along with reaching the lost. The worship through music/singing is contemporary and is consistently done with excellence in an acoustic format. The kids 3 yrs and up join the congregation in singing and go back to have their bible lesson when the preaching begins. A person in the 30s/40s small group made inappropriate jokes sitting next to me during the small group and there were widespread rumors of pursuing people inappropriately and I can only share my experience as it relates to how it was handled by the church. When I raised my concerns with the church, I experienced blame-shifting and never received a response to my request to meet privately. They did not display honesty or transparency. I could not find honesty or humility in how this was handled. I genuinely hope this changes and that people are being led toward Jesus rather than being manipulated. Just totally inauthentic and self absorbed. A good pruning of the Rose bush is necessary at this church to make room for new healthy buds. "A function of cutting away to reduce the extent or reach of something by taking away unwanted or superfluous parts." But in good conscience I can't recommend this church without sharing what I experienced. Update in response to the reply below. The statement that the invitation "remains open" seems contradictory because I responded to the original invitation, communicated my boundaries, provided specific availability, and never received follow-up after that response. The invitation was already open and I answered it. The email chain stated I would meet with the pastor(s) but they never responded to it two times implicitly signaling a contradiction to the reply below. I do not want to be in the same room as the people who demonstrated a lack of integrity in their personal conduct. If it was so important to have restoration we would have started by acting like grown adult Christians, communicating honestly (Ephesians 4:25). If it was so important someone would have called me from the church and made a legitimate follow up attempt. No names are mentioned and again this is about the church as a whole. I cannot in good conscience recommend the church after the experiences and dismissive or minimizing replies that do not give off the presence of humility and honesty. Until I see evidence of growth I cannot recommend it and am lowering the review. Scripture teaches that healthy communication and conflict resolution require honesty, humility, and genuine follow through & not silence. When a church publicly invites someone to connect but never responds in emails, that silence is itself a contradiction of the values.

As we were looking around, Current's Journey to Bethlehem's website popped up. Their website was modern, minimalistic, sleek, and informative. We were definitely swayed just by browsing around, and the FAQ's were complete. They had a general admission ticket that was good for any of the times, or a special express pass that would minimize the wait by up to half-hour. However, the express pass did not guarantee no wait, so we ended up getting the general admission ticket and planned to get there at least a half an hour early to catch the first guided tour. Turns out that was a good plan. We got there at 4:30PM and we were able to be part of the first group - the "Abraham" family and started a few minutes after 5PM. You can really tell that they've been doing this for 14 years in the Katy community. From the parking, the acting, to the presentation of the Gospel, everything here was top notch. I especially enjoyed visiting the village of Nazareth, and being ushered in to the biblical era. We met a blacksmith who was hammering "metal," children who were putting together beaded necklaces to earn their living, and woman who taught us to write "Shalom" in Hebrew. It was quite impressive that the adults and the kids alike never really broke from acting. Everything seemed absolutely real. The realism continued as we went outside, and we approached a Roman soldiers encampment who demanded our group to "hold out our papers." It was so real that my 5 year-old son held up his papers the entire time! (Just a note: some other kids my sons' age 's slightly younger got a bit scared, others were perfectly fine. Just be prepared to talk and explain to your child). The glorious appearance of the angels were well done and choreographed. I appreciate that the guides worked hard to tell a story - to express their hope for Israel's redemption, their joy as they saw angels announcing the Messiah, the disdain of the Roman officials for the Jews who anticipated the Messiah being born in Bethlehem. The last stop is Calvary, in which they explain the significance of Christ's birth and its place in the bigger Gospel story. They also give an invitation to attend the Christmas Eve/Day services, for those who want to learn more about Jesus. At the end, they give you a free cookie (snack). The presentation is highly realistic and well done. The church members did a great job in communicating the realism of the Roman oppression, the messianic hopes of Israel, and what it would have been like to witness the angels announcing Messiah's birth. Highly recommended! Just make sure you take a beanie -it's cold!
