The average shopping trip nets about $1000 worth of classroom supplies. Local businesses donate items, and there is always something new. In the several years I have been visiting, I have seen full-size filing cabinets, Thirty-One bags, electric pencil sharpeners, boxes of notebooks, printer paper, huge rolls of art paper, sets of scissors, markers, art supplies, etc. All things that teachers usually pay for out of pocket. They are a blessing to the teachers and students of the area!

What an amazing place to volunteer some of your time to help this organization help others in need…read moreof food. The staff was wonderful to talk to and they explained how the food reaches those in need. They give you instructions on how to help that day. It's a super team activity or you can sign up to volunteer on your own. I hope to come back again with my team. It was a very fulfilling day. Dress comfortable as you will gathering foods and packing them and working in their warehouse. Such an altruistic place. I love what they do for others

The place is more like a fashion agency than a food bank as upper management would rather look good…read morethan do good. I've witnessed multiple people get turned away and not receive food although they can give boxes of non perishable food out at their own discretion. When perishable food is donated it usually sits on a shelf in the cool until it goes bad and then it's discarded. Many project completed by volunteers often go to the wayside as it sits in the warehouse and does not make it to a food pantry before items in the box pass the extended shelf life. Beware!!!

But they do all sorts of other things too. Classes on a variety of things. Chances for seniors to get out and socialize with others. Group events. More. There's a yearly fee, but it's pretty nominal if you get out more than 2 times a month and used to use taxis. They work out of a few zipcodes in Buffalo, not yet all. So if you live in one of those you are in luck. The execution is where it falls down a little. Even if you put in your request by their "advance notice" deadlines, at times they cannot find a ride. Which is fine if they let you know a few days in advance, but sometimes they only did that a day in advance. That can lead to some scrambling, especially if you can't really take a taxi for whatever reason. So I love the idea. Just wish they had worked out some of the kinks by now.

From 9 to 3 on Monday through Friday, our boys enjoy structured play, scheduled activities, and fun field trips for six weeks. Our relationship with the ROC doesn't stop when summer is over. The back to school event provides backpacks, filled with school supplies, gift certificates to local hairdressers and barbers for the kids, and back to school photographs to round out the experience. All these activities take place in state of the art facilities, which are very well managed by talented and compassionate professional professionals.

I asked for toddler activities that I could get involved with and again I wasn't on a list. If you're not on their list don't bother they don't care.
