Looking through our daughter's portfolio made our day, it shows how much you (and other teachers such as Miss Karen) have done for her. Thank you for introducing them to artists like Mondrian (so inspiring!), for your endless patience when she didn't want to nap, and for always being so open and honest with us about her development. It means the world to know she is in such caring, dedicated hands.

I'm impressed by the well-designed curriculum which balances music, art, phonics, maths, science, outdoor play time, and of course language skills. She has made great progress in both English and Mandarin Chinese (and also picked some Spanish from the Spanish class). Beyond that, they celebrate all the major cultural festivals with fun activities, including the most recent dancing lion performance in the classroom to celebrate Lunar New Year. Her teachers are amazing! Ms Ella and Ms Jahaira are kind, patient and encouraging. I really appreciate the care they give the children. They often share the fun things that my kid does at school - the small progress she made, her interaction with other kids, etc. They are super attentive and caring. Since I'm writing this, I also want to take this opportunity to thank Ms Martha in the early preschool class who helped my daughter transition well last year, Ms Stephanie, and Ms Sonia and Ms Karen who have been with the school for many years and also taught my older daughter. Ms Kate, Mr Alexis, Ms. Yi, Ms Lois, Ms Nova, along with several other floater teachers, make the school feel very welcoming and friendly.

I went to this school…read more... So....now that you know this is where I was trained to be an adult, do you want to send your girls to Casti, or not.... MUAHAHAHAHAHHAA. All kidding aside, I love Castilleja and will send my daughter here when/if I have one. I loved school. I was never too cool for school.

While I was never a full-time student here, I did attend Casti for summer camp…read more Price-wise, my family paid much more than any other summer camp in the area, but it was well worth it. Back in my days (and that was ages ago), it was $700-$800 for 8 weeks (I think). They offered classes in many different things, from sports to singing (acapella and musical style) to sewing. There was an extra-delicious lunch every Wednesday with chicken patties (for the anti-red meat eaters) to veggie patties (for the young vegetarians). No PB & J as your only source of fruit. There was fruit salad, ambrosia, etc. The food is top-notch (for camp anyway) and probably better than some business convention catering. They also had several overnight stays and field trips. The ratio of counselors to campers was 1:6. That's amazing. It only went up to sixth graders though. Boo. Ofcourse, with that price, fellow campers are not your average people. I had one who knew celebrities in HK and others who have already travelled the world. The school itself is fantastic too. I know several family friends who have attended Casti and they were even boarders (I don't think they have boarding anymore). They take very good care of their girls and the education is top-notch. The people I knew ended up at Stanford and Berkeley. The student-teacher ratio is amazing (according to wiki, it's 8:1.) Someday, I'll move back here and send my daughter(s) here. However, the tuition currently is $28000. But I guess you get what you pay for! On a side note, Casti has its own wiki entry. I don't think my high school has a wiki entry.

GMS was transformative for not only my daughter, but for so many girls. I cannot say enough amazing…read morethings about the school--the dedication of the teachers and staff, the special culture, and the pedagogical excellence. My daughter thrived in high school--not just in math, science, and the arts--but at being able to ask questions, advocate for herself, try new things, navigate conflict, seek mental health help when she needed it, and be fearless.

The Girls' Middle School is an incredible 6-8 school for girls. My daughter is absolutely thrilled…read morewith everything GMS has to offer. The school focuses on girls at an age that can be challenging for many, and thus really excels at creating a fully inclusive and exploratory environment. Every role at the school is filled by a girl, and the faculty is superbly hands-on with embracing all the growth ahead of girls at this age and encouraging them to try new things and discover themselves. Some stand out things for me: the Entrepreneurial Program in 7th grade involves girls founding their own company, developing a real product, working with mentors from the business community, selling their product, and pitching to VCs from the industry, while tracking all of their operational costs. Amazing preparation for the future! GMS also teaches Computer Science across all three grades, offers surfing and skateboarding experiences, woodworking and metalworking, and a strong Spanish program. The school has a full athletics program (softball, soccer, basketball, cross country, swimming, tennis, volleyball) as well as many other after-school activities that can keep your daughter very busy: school musical, homework club, art, robotics, and many more. Academically, as well as Humanities and the aforementioned Computer Science and Spanish programs, the school's math curriculum includes the equivalent of a High School Algebra I course and an optional Geometry class in 8th grade. GMS does not focus on grades and the stresses this brings, but rather builds up strong narrative evaluations over time, fostering a love for learning, and continues to give parents great insights into how their children are doing. The school also has dedicated classes for SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) which has helped my daughter so much in learning about her feelings and her place in the world, and developing a rich set of perspectives. I enthusiastically recommend The Girls' Middle School. It is often overlooked by parents focused on finding a K-12 or 6-12 school "I don't want to go through applications again!" but it's very clear from talking to many alums that girls' preferences change a huge amount by the time they are 14, and the school that might seem a good fit for them at age 11 might not be the school they'd be happiest at by age 14. GMS is recognized by many private high schools in the area, and also prepares them extremely well should your daughter join a public high school.

Jordan has made the middle school transition very smooth for my daughter. Some of the most special teachers I know are... Ms.Levy, Ms.Missett, and Ms.Cardenas, they're the core teachers of the 6th grade Smarties Team! I also want to give credit to Ms.Richards, the yearbook main staff. Ms.Meghen Ben is a wonderful councillor, she's very approachable and pleasant to be around! They have a well rounded school, and just the right amount of homework. The teachers here to actually care about the students. Not only are the teachers great, Jordan actually is the ONLY middle school in Palo Alto District with lockers in hallways, unlike the other schools forcing their children to have outdoor lockers, around who knows what kind of people! Jordan has their halls locked so that the student's properties inside their classroom or locker will stay safe. Their fields are open to the public after school and on the weekends.
