I got a pretty solid chai at this minimalist cafe. Their menu is small, which I do enjoy because it is easier for me to make a decision lol! The barista was also incredibly personable, welcoming, and worked quickly. There isn't a ton of seating for groups but great for individual work.

This is my second time at this location and both have been absolutely fantastic! The staff is so incredibly kind and pleasant to deal with and it makes for such a woman inviting atmosphere. Their coffee is delicious, and they also have a good quality Matcha, but I wouldn't mind getting again and again. Their service is also incredibly fast which is always an added bonus.

If you want a good espresso, come here. The coffee is really good. The matcha was good too. Friendly service. A nice open space with lots of windows. Street parking is available.

Stopped by to try a new coffee shop & ordered an iced brown sugar latte with almond milk. The place is spacious and clean. Coffee was absolutely delicious as everything is made in house & not overly sweet, just right. This coffee is smooth & delicious. One of the best coffees I've had as my other favorites are in San Diego & New York! I will definitely be coming regularly. I highly recommend. Staff were very kind & welcoming & quick service.

I stopped here for a coffee while in downtown Santa Ana. It was my second time having a coffee here. It's a nice, simply designed coffee shop. The coffee was good. The ambiance was pleasant. It's clearly a local gathering place as people were holding meetings here (in addition to socializing). That sense of a community center is something that I like in a coffee shop. The gentleman who served me my coffee was pleasant and efficient. The reason for the 4 (vs. 5) star review is because the seating was okay, but not that comfortable. The upkeep of the coffee shop wasn't that great. Dishes were piling up in a corner of the counter and the restroom needed some routine maintenance work. Still, if you're in downtown Santa Ana, it's a good coffee shop to go to.

Hopper and Burr is a fancy coffee shop for those special days you need a special treat. I'm very much an americano or black drip coffee kind of girl and not very into overly sweet lattes with a bunch of syrup. But sometimes I feel like getting a treat and trying something new too! Hopper and Burr satisfies that very specific itch for me because they have speciality coffees that are not necessarily lattes. You can tell they actually get creative to come up with unique drinks. I also like that they have a seasonal menu. This time I got their colossal wreck. The barista literally cut the peel of a brand new lemon to add the oil from the peel to my drink. My favorite drink from Hopper and Burr was another seasonal drink called Nico No 2(?) Where they sliced an orange peel to add the oil to my drink as well. These drinks are tiny (usually smaller than a Tall size at Starbucks) but they are so delicious and I feel like I'm getting treated to a really nice drink! But just fyi they are expensive! Like $8 for a tiny fancy cup!

Super cute little spot right at the heart of DTSA. The decor inside is very minimalist and chic. Cute tattooed boys at the register that are super friendly. I like that they make small conversation with you. They recommended the Nico for me. I ordered mine with almond milk. Such unique flavors! It's a very aromatic drink with hints of orange and cinnamon. I think it's a nice spot and would definitely recommend checking them out. I will be back to the other drinks on their menu.

One man and an espresso machine. Modern and sparse space in a historic building in Santa Ana. Hidden bakery case featuring pasties from Collosus bakery in Long Beach. Simple. I ordered an ice latte to go, but I should have ordered a hot latte to stay and sit around and just take everything in for just a little bit. Street parking. Good service. Please come and create your own adventure.

I saw this place on Yelp, so thought I would try it. They have an interesting coffee menu that isn't the "norm." The barista said "no" frequently when we asked for a vanilla flavored latte, or oat milk, so I felt a little put off, but settled on the honey coffee drink and a latte with brown sugar -- both with almond milk. We were too early for the ricotta and jam toast, since their kitchen doesn't open until 8am ... so we noticed that there was a pastry display, and ordered the scone, which was delicious. The coffees were very tasty, but they did start to loose their flavor as they sat ... I like to sip my coffee, and was disappointed with that aspect of the coffee.

I love hopper & burr and have been coming here for years. They have such unique drinks and a seasonal menu so there's always something to try. I usually get a matcha latte and it's always perfect. We like to come here for a quick drink or even bring our laptops and work for a couple of hours since it's a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. I think about the ricotta and jam toast on a weekly basis, it is soo good. But recently, I noticed the ricotta is spread really thinly and not as filled as before which I hope isn't the new way of making it. It used to be a perfect balance of creaminess and the tartness of the jam but now it's just mostly jam.. :(

I love this place. I've been coming here for a few years and it is a great place to study because they have WiFi and outlets and plenty of seating. Their drinks are the real draw. They have unique creations and seasonal additions that are worth trying, today I had apple soda with bitters it was delicious but really their drinks are all good and they have a few food items which are good to, today I had the ricotta and jelly toast which is good but it's just one slice but yes it's delicious. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about what they have and the place is in a great spot.

Stopped by for a ice americano since in the area. Still a great coffee and wine place to go with great service.

When will you guys have your seasonal frozen latte drink again?

Do you have to pay for parking?

there is free parking in the public parking structure right behind the market on 5th street--i think they only charge for parking on days they have events

    Are dogs allowed?

I'm here now and someone has their puppy in here so I assume so!

Noted that there is street and garage parking - is any parking free though?

There is no free parking that I know of in the area. The streets are metered and there are various pay lots.

I came in today and was served by a blonde cashier who felt cold and unfriendly. She was very bubbly and warm towards the patron (who was also a white woman) before me, who maybe seemed to be a friend or a regular. They were chatting for a bit and when it came to be my turn at the register, her face completely fell and she did not welcome me or say any greeting. Just.....silence........so I awkwardly ordered my drink. Once I said my order, she turned her head to the specials menu, and had a cold, blank expression, which made me think that it was out or that they couldn't do what I asked. I asked her if the drink I ordered was available, and there was a long pause before she dryly laughed it off and said that she didn't register what I was saying. It felt like a lame excuse and it felt so awkward; so I just tried to be as polite as possible and continued with my order. I wanted to just sit down and leave asap. It was so disorienting because she had acted in a completely different way with the girl before me. I just shrugged it off as a bad day, but when I consulted my friend about it, she said that the same girl acted in the same way towards her. And then I came here to write a review and saw that another Asian woman seemed to have a similar experience, so it doesn't just seem like a one-off thing....

There's only about 3-4 tables inside, so not too many places to sit if it gets busy. You can order through a kiosk or in person, and the service is usually pretty timely. I ordered the Roasted Oolong tea latte and the Phoenix Oolong tea latte, both of which are their more popular drink selection. I usually try to get the lowest sugar level which was 10%. Of all the tea places I've tried, these drinks easily had the strongest tea flavor at that level of sweetness. If you're not use to the bitterness from tea, you might elect to select a higher level of sweetness to balance it out. The oat milk has a very subtle flavor, but also doesn't overwhelm the drink. Either way, I thought both drinks were well-made.
