It's a well laid out bar with a nice big outside area for a bar on a road. They do lovely cocktails which seemed to be on offer although I have no idea what the offer was. I will say that I'm very glad she was with us because it was a challenge even for her to figure out how the place works - self seating, ordering and getting beer at the bar, and going to a separate area to order food, fast-food style. But the beer was great (I has the Noire, very nice porter-style beer), and others had a variety. In a second round someone had the IPA and I had a taste. I'm not usually an IPA fan, but something about this one, the combination of the smell and taste, made it quite attractive to me. The food came out and was quite good - salads and a burger. I definitely will be back (with a group - it's busy and noisy and it'd be less intimidating for me that way)!

Still, every now and then, it is an enticing prospect so I ended up there last night because the vegetarian restaurant where I was planning to go was unexpectedly closed. Well, I had a great meal and pleasant evening there... The waiter was very nice and helpful, chatting and making jokes with us without being too intruding (which always goes a long way for me). He helped us choose the right beer and to pick the right 'garniture' for our burgers. The food was good --I had a fish burger (vegetarian over here!) with the Holly Luya sauce which was excellent--and was brought to our table in no time. The fries were good (although I do prefer them a bit crunchier) and so was the tarte tatin. On top of it, there was a band playing there so the ambiance was really great and it made for a really nice evening... Je ne mange pas chez Ninkasi très souvent.
