There are not that many local kid clothing stores around. So I came here when I wanted to get dome Hawaiian souvenirs for kids. They do have some cute kids clothing and products that have the local theme. A bit costly honestly but I thought oh well gotta support local businesses right. But the most annoying part was the lady (not sure if she's the owner?) who kept asking me questions or promoting other products. A small variety of boutique style infant to toddler clothing. Moderately priced. I did make a recent purchase but will not be going back. An older woman was tending the shop. She was uncomfortably pushy on other products when the single product I wanted didn't have the correct size. I can clearly see the other options, I dont need to be heckled about them. I also asked for a bag in the end and she was very curt and said "you didn't ask for one". I replied to her that typically a shop will ask me if I want one. Overall, limited selection and poor costumer service. Next time I'll take the time to go across the street to Taj Clubhouse in the Ward Village Shops where the customer service and product variety is at a much higher standard. read more

Went to check out this store with my 2 year old and the employee working there didn't say a word to us when we walked in. Not even a simple greeting. My child was looking at some plastic-wrapped cloths in a cubby basket and I was telling her to push the basket into the cubby and the employee walked over to the other side of the cubby shelf and yanked the basket from my child's hands as my child was saying she wanted to push the basket in. The employee didn't say a word during that entire interaction and due to the employee's poor response toward my child- IN A CHILDRENS' STORE- we left and will never return nor recommend this store to anyone. read more

The owner/worker (older lady) is very rude. I arrived at the store at 6pm (they close at 7pm), the door was shut so I asked if they were open. She asked if I was going buy something, I told her I may I was going to look. She sighed very loud & said don't touch anything & hurry bc she wants to go home. This is 1 hr b4 closing. Hopscotch is hidden in the Ward warehouse strip building 1 closer to Famous footwear. Parking is available in the ward parking but maybe hard to find if it's a busy night. This is a nice little store. Gotta support local businesses. There is a lot of cool stuff for kids, particularly for infants - however there are things for older kids. I saw some battery operated unicorn and ice cream lights that I think my daughter would love. BEWARE! Friendly sales associates, but the owners are doing a terrible job with customer service and product quality. Save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else. Prior to purchasing an item, i was concerned that it may have been defective, because pieces could be heard rattling around in the box. The sales associate reassured me that if anything was wrong I could return the item no questions asked, as long as I had the sales receipt. Indeed broken. Yet when i brought it back to the store, the owner refused to accept a return??? Store policy is to not accept returns? But your sales agent clearly said it would be fine. Why the customer deception? This not the only children themed store in the area, so I recommend shopping someplace else. No wonder this place has such a low yelp rating. The owner should try another occupation. Hopscotch is a cute, higher end children's boutique. They carry locally made products such as Malama baby. They have some super cute local T-shirts and onesies for babies and toddlers. However, they do not sell baby gear like strollers or car seats. I've bought a few things from here. I bought a nursing cover from Malama baby most recently. I've also bought swaddle blankets with cute food prints on it like pho and spam musubis. All locally made! I find the prices to be a little high, but it is overlooked because you're supporting local businesses. My husband most recently bought masks for our kiddos from here as well with cute prints. Staff are always friendly when we come in and keep their distance to give you time to browse. Due to the limited amount of baby stores in Hawaii it's a good choice to visit here. It kind of reminds me of shopping at a craft fair for cute baby items. Great for a quick baby shower gift! read more

Hands down one of my favorite local store. However I recently went and the sales lady was an older Asian lady.. she was very welcoming and she was friendly. However a little over bearing.. I picked up a shirt and she came over to explain the brand.. I walked over to Malama baby products and she came over again and explained whatever I grabbed. Literally everything I grabbed or touched she would come over or talk from the register and explain whatever the product was. I get she's being informative, but it was a bit much. Then I grabbed one of the swaddle blankets.. from the packaging I could just see red, blue, yellow and green stripes. There was a post it that says, "please ask for assistance on swaddle blankets". So that's exactly what I did.. I asked her if she could open it so I could see the design. She replied "I only open half way!" She literally opened it half way and still I could only see colorful lines. My grandmother was with me & asked her if she would open it up so we could see the design. The lady looked at my gram and gave her attitude. At that point I told the sales lady "I wanted to see the design, how are we as customers going to spend money if we don't see the full product or know exactly what we are buying". I wasn't about to spend $25 on something I didn't even know what it was. I wanted to be confident I knew what I was purchasing. After glares, attitude given and her slowly opening the blanket up I seen what the print was.. a rainbow. Truth be told, I had a feeling it was a rainbow but my point to the lady was how do you expect to make sales if you can't compromise with your customers. If you put a sign that says please ask for assistance, you better expect for people to ask what it looks like or if they can open up the packaging. And if you don't want people to open it up then provide pictures of the swaddles or have samples out for people to see. Plain and simple. I was pretty upset and disgusted by this, especially if she's the owner. read more

The sales associate girls seem pretty nice but I was approached by an older lady (at least in her 60's) who has the most bitter opinions that discouraged me from shopping here ever again. I came in to shop for my baby and this lady had heavy opinions on what I should and shouldn't buy for my baby. She was bossing me around the whole time I was looking throughout the store, making it really hard for me to even want to keep shopping. I'm really concerned about the owner and how they might be treating their employees if this lady can just talk to customers like that. I would have preferred to give NO stars, but it wouldn't allow me. Sandy (the worker at the register) NEVER has good customer service. It's such a shame that other types of people walk in to the store and she doesn't follow them around or constantly ask them if they need something when they pick up items, but, when I look around the store she follows me with her eyes, constantly asks if I'm going to buy something or if I need something - definitely in an accusatory way. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. Last week we bought a locally made swaddle from Hopscotch. Since the person we bought it for ended up having a girl instead of a boy, we went to exchange it for a different swaddle print. She accused us of trying to return the item used. She pointed to something on it. When we told her it had been in the bag and never touched since we bought it from her, she accused us of using it then washing it. Sandy called the owner on the phone so that they could explain to us AGAIN that Sandy thought we used it. Clearly, that's how we bought it from THEIR store, and if they believe it was used, they sold us a USED item. We will NEVER be patronizing this store again. The products are great, but the service we receive and the accusation of using something and trying to return it was absolutely unnecessary, asinine, and absolutely the WORST possible service local people can receive. We have come to purchase items three times in the last month and now will NEVER be back. The owner and Sandy, the worker, are the saddest representation of customer service to good customers. There are other stores that carry local baby products that have MUCH better service. I suggest you check out others instead. read more

This store is only a few months old and is still waiting for their sign to come in. However, the store itself is so cute, well organized, very clean, with a modern feel. The workers are so nice and definitely didn't pressure me into buying anything. I love that they carry local lines for baby needs. It helps to add that unique 'hawaiiness' to a gift that you really can't get anywhere else. Support local :) My only reason for giving them 4 instead of 5 stars is the price. These are really well-made, quality baby things; however, the prices are a little high for my taste. Babies won't really care that you paid $75 for their adorable baby blanket.. Cutest store ever!! They have ADORABLE stuff, mostly by local designers. Cute Hawaiian prints and smart functions. I had the hardest time picking out a present for a new mother. GREAT for baby shower gifts or baby's 1st year. Probably a little expensive for reoccurring purchases from mama herself though. But perfect for spoiling and finding the most adorable stuff. I came across this super cute new baby boutique store in ward. Its right near Goma Tei and hard to miss. Just opened not too long ago and is the perfect place to pick up a gift for a baby shower or something cute for your own child! Since I discovered it, Iv been back already to get another baby gift for another girlfriend. They sell the cutes prints and locally made baby gear. What can I say, I'm a sucker for supporting local!! And this place has it all! The first time I came by, I picked up a really nice set of bamboo swaddle blankets. I kinda stumbled on this place by accident, but Im glad I did. Its such a cute little shop!! This second time around, I got a set of swaddle blankets, matching teether, some matching bibs and the cutes card! The owner is so nice and did such a cute job wrapping the gift and putting everything together for me. We have had previous good experience shopping for local baby goods here which is the reason for 1 star rather than 0. Attempted to visit 10/4/2020 when they opened at 11am. No one was in the store so we left at 11:15. Their online information and the sign on the door state that they open at 11. Pretty disappointed that we drove over 30 minutes only to find that store closed despite all things indicating they would be open. read more

Cute store with average or above average pricing. EXTREMELY POOR EXCHANGE POLICY. Received gift as a Christmas present with gift receipt from a sweet person that has yet to meet my baby. Item was purchased 11/29/2016 but exchange is only WITHIN_21_DAYS. NO other returns otherwise. Item is unused/unopened, how am I supposed to get something baby really needs or wants if I can't return it within its exchange/return policy after getting it as a gift? A Christmas gift, opened on Christmas DAY no less? It would be considerate of this baby store to understand as parents: 1) we don't have ample amounts of time to run errands, and 2) possibly have an extended holiday return time period/policy for these type of thoughtful and pricey Christmas presents that doesn't suit your keiki? We bought a lot of stuff from this store for our son,even price in this store is more than Norsdorm and other stores with the same products. My husband bought me a nursery cover as a surprise,but we found I cannot breastfeeding anymore.We decided to take it back since its always in my backpacks and never been used.The owner gave me hard time about it,finally we accepted store credit. About two weeks later,we went back and picked up a onesie for my son,we took it back home and I wanted to wash before I put it on for my son.we found a broken part,we bought it on Thursday and went back on Sunday,the staff told me that I cannot exchange since I used my store credit.she also called the owner,she told me that I cannot do anything since I used my store credit.Also she asked me why I didn't go back on the same day I found out it is broken,I told her that we had car accident after we leave her store,she said she doesn't care,I was NOT happy about what she said. I love this little store with it's local made products and I've been shopping here for a few years now. They carry Izzy and Luke and the Keiki Department brands of clothes that are just tooooo cute! Prices are really high as you'd expect so don't go in expecting deals. They also carry a lot of high quality baby/toddler goods that are unique and hard to find. The owner/manager obviously spend a good amount of time researching what they carry and it shows. Now if I could just get a coupon to use there sometime.... read more

I was so excited to go to this store since they carry a lot of local products and I always like to support local but the feeling in here is kind of cold. The sales associate that was there stood in front of the counter where you check out and just watched me as I looked through the store. I had to pickup a baby shower gift and planned on getting a few things. She didn't ask me if I needed help with finding anything she just stared it was so bizarre and made me feel really uncomfortable. If it wasn't for all the local products I wouldn't have bought anything because it just isn't a friendly/welcoming environment. Dear Hopscotch Owner: I had asked your store clerk for an e-mail address or some means to reach-out to you but she had none, and thus reason for this Yelp commentary. You have some wonderful & unique products, helpful staff, and I made a sizeable purchase of about $250. I purposely over bought items because I wanted my staff to weigh-in on my selections and the collection of gifts for our boss. Thus my surprise when I returned yesterday (7/14) to ask for a partial refund on a few items we chose against, and was told I could only receive a store credit. It is my understanding that merchants can set their own refund policy with posting of a conspicuous refund policy sign, and if no signs are posted, the law requires merchants to accept the return of goods and provide a refund. Your store does have a policy displayed, but it fails to make any reference as to how the return is given or not given e.g. Refund, exchange, store credit. Nor was mention ever made by the clerk assisting me surrounding this. I did accept the store credit in the end, not wanting to argue with your store clerk who's fault this was not; however, I continue to believe that given the circumstances and lack of a clear store policy, and having spent a fair amount of money at your store, that I should be given the benefit of the doubt, and a refund should have been granted. We both pored over the whole store, looking at all the goodies that were made of high-quality and baby-safe materials. I settled on a hand-knit dinosaur for the kiddo and he loves the bright colors and the different textures of the knit. It feels good to give the kid a safe toy to gnaw on, as well as support a local business at the same time. Shopping at Babies R Us, Target, etc. gets tiring when (mostly) everything is cheap, made poorly, in China and with bad-for-you-and-baby plastic, or with outrageous shipping charges. I've been pouring over other websites like Amazon to find different products that are safer for baby, like the ones offered here, but it's hard to buy without actually seeing some of these products in-person. Hopscotch introduces you to new brands you've may have never even heard about, and make things that are baby-safe, with features like: BPA-free, organic cotton, stainless steel, baby-safe plastic, or with supersoft bamboo rayon, to name a few. Products range from blankets, cloth diapering supplies, teething/feeding supplies, breastfeeding covers, toys, and baggies (wet/dry, snack, etc.) galore. They are so well-made, I wouldn't be surprised if these things became heirloom items. Support a local business and a healthy lifestyle for baby by shopping at Hopscotch. I'm a first time mom and was looking for a carrier and MARA helped me with my options. The fun part was that she didn't know how the product looked like so we looked together and kinda just gave that experience to each other on knowing our products. She explained the return policy and yes I came back couple days later and exchange for another carrier! She was nice about it and again we got to learn about the other carrier I was looking at. She gave us the stink eye the moment we came in, never said a word and then locked the doors and ran off when we exited to look at the shoes in the store window from better angle. Jayne, Hopscotch's owner, is super knowledgeable on baby items. I believe it's from her passion for kids that she has because of her two daughters that we sometimes see in the store. She's dedicated to making sure the quality of the items in the store are preserved, as she only purchases items that she feels would help the mothers of Oahu have an easier time raising their kids. What I also love about this store is that I don't have to think of what I want or need, it's all in one place! I almost always want to buy everything when I walk by or into the store. Hopscotch also has exclusive prints for some of the best local products in town. I was admiring these the other day and the foldable diaper changing cloth is so adorable. I'm sure it has a name. Unfortunately the older asian lady is still working there and her customer service has not improved. I'm not sure if she is related to the owner or not but she is bad for business. I got there before they opened so I could get what I needed in a timely manner but they were still closed 10 minutes after they were supposed to open. The older asian lady finally showed up and said she didn't know I was waiting and that she was at the store across the hall talking to someone she knew. Off to a bad start already but I decided to purchase from her anyway since I was there and had been waiting. She took forever to ring up my items and it was painful to watch her fold each item at sloth speed. Very unfortunate since the store has really nice items and many are locally made. i am very dissapointed in this store today. While I love to support locally made products and shops before on-line or department stores; I cannot support this one. The saleswoman was very rude to my just turned two year old today (12/27). We were shopping for a baby blanket and other items for her baby brother (6 months). My daughter was holding some items that were displayed at her level and the saleswoman was very upset at her for touching the merchandise in the store. The saleswoman was more concerned about making sure that she would not need to remerchandise product, then the feelings of a small child. We had to leave the store because my little girl was about to burst into tears. She is amazing at caring for things and at putting things away, plus she love to help out. (Which is what she thought she was doing, being a good big sister and helping to find things for little bro.) My point is: please speak to others with Aloha and respect, even children are people too. It became very clear that this store looks beautiful on the surface, but does not have a heart underneath. Not a place friendly to families, which is very strange since it is a baby store after all. This amazing store has everything you could dream about for a new family. We are devout subscription box subscribers and our favorite box which is well researched includes perfect items for our baby. Every item we have received has been her favorite of whatever category it has been. Almost all the items in this local store at Ward center has also appeared in our subscription boxes. I would only recommend purchasing local and now only recommend that you do so here at hopscotch. The owner has her own amazing personal experience with her Keiki and her husband who comes by frequently is an amazing perspective as well. Since they protect their clients children by making sure all items are brand-new and in on opened factory packaging please be sure that you have sampled or tested the products and research them well prior to purchase. Since they will not accept returns once packages have been open for the safety of the children that they support. This is a wonderful concept and keep everyone safe. You will thank me later after purchasing amazing products at the store since their service is second to none. This is not a national chain that has no heart and is only trying to sell products online or in a big box store this is a beautiful couple running their own business as exemplary entrepreneurs.
