I am amazed at the fascination so many people, women especially, have with childrens shoes. I guess it's the broodiness that us females are supposed to get. They are just so tiny! I once heard a story ('a friend of a friend' type story) that a girl used to buy babies shoes because they were so cute and small, she didn't even have any children of her own. Now, to me, this is borderline bonkers, but I can see why they are so sweet. I guess it shows the naivety of children and the development and growth of human life...or whatever (mini violins, please go away).
I do sometimes get the urge to oogle and gargle over small people, but luckily I have friends who have their own, so I can do this but always give them back. (Clever!) One day though, I too will be buying the microscopic footwear, but only if I have a littlen of my own.
If this day ever occurs, (eek), then Hopscotch would be a place that I might buy my child's shoes from. It is a small chain run by a mother of three who have unusually narrow feet. She has done her research and decided to tell others about the importance of having correctly fitting footwear when you are growing as a child. If not, you can encounter all sorts of problems when you grow up into a fully fledged adult.
They stock all sorts of mini footwear. From flip flops to boots to trainers, and all reasonably fashionable to keep the little ones content.
Plus the store won the Drapers Footwear Awards 2009 so they are obviously doing a good job. read more
