Certainly not for the price - a £90/night family room was ample for three ladies and all our girly getting ready needs. There were drawbacks - they included a lack of chair at the desk, a malfunctioning hairdryer, a pod-like bathroom liable to flood and a window which looked onto the street and through which a multitude of people stared at various times. However, the owner was more than friendly and even treated us to complimentary rosé before we ventured wedding-wards. Our room also featured plenty of mirrors and very very comfy beds - both invaluable. The breakfast was really good; lots of hangover placating orange juice and bacon was very welcome. The proprietor was also extremely flexible on check-in and check-out times while the hotel is in a great location close to the station and a short walk into the centre of Chester. Definitely recommended as a cheap and exceedingly cheerful Chester hotel.

Parking is minimal but we got a space for our entire stay so can't really complain. The rooms were of a good standard but the bathrooms were awful I have seen bigger wardrobes NO room to move & if you spent more than 5 minutes in the shower then it flooded the entire POD Public areas were decorated to a good standard but was fraying around the edges somewhat, tatty, old looking plug sockets etc The location isn't bad, a steady walk back from the city centre & Lloyds is situated in a good location for the train station! Only saw 2 members of staff the whole of our stay & found them friendly. Would return to Chester but wouln't be rushing back to stay here ultimately nothing more than a glorified B & B.

It's got everything you'd want whether you like to DIY in the kitchen, or if you not that way inclined, then just pop across the road to the wheatsheaf. The kitchen/living room is well equipped (we enjoyed a superb home cooked dinner) and the living room is comfortable. The bedroom is upstairs and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped with a good choice of bathing products (just in case you forgot your own). We only booked short notice, so the cottage was not available on the last night, so we switched to the B&B. The room was large and the equipped with the usual : Sky TV, Tea Making, etc. The beds were comfortable. The owners , Tim & Kerry are very friendly and Tim cooks a fab English Breakfast! Will definitely be returning next time we visit North Wales.

But the rooms are nicely appointed and there are 2 very nice restaurants; one casual pub style and the other more fine dining. Both restaurants serve great food. There's a nice spa, fitness and fantastic pool. And the service is very good.

Several electrical outlets to charge all our electronics. Shower had a rain shower head and the hot water was just right. Could have used a handicap bar to get out of the tub enclosure, though. The included breakfast each morning was great, lots of variety and everything was fresh, including the croissants. I've been to other hotels where the pastries seem a day or two old. Highly recommend this hotel. We did not use the pool, spa or workout center.

The food is lovely and the prices are not too bad. You can have a set menu for about £25. I loved the food I had there. It was clearly excellent produce and freshly cooked to order. Really good value for money. I have also been there for a christmas party and the food was of a pretty high standard then also, I think that cost about £25 also. Must warn that they do get booked up really quick for christmas meals so book early. They do offers like 3 nights for 2 on their rooms and all rooms are individually decorated in medeival style. Seriously cannot recommend this hotel and restaurant highly enough, I love it.

The food was excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. Overall cost was VERY reasonable. The whole experience was only spoiled by the very poor service from the staff, most of whom seem to have never even visited a hotel/restaurant let alone worked in one. This was a topic of conversation for all the guests and cause of some merriment! Having said that they were all very pleasant, so it was not possible to be overly upset, however it is a shame though.

The on-site Toby Carvery was a plus and it also did breakfast (check for any half price internet vouchers) The Travelodge has it own free car park and is easily accessed from Chester city centre in around 12 mins by car. We used the Northgate long stay car park in Chester (CH2 2DX) £3.00 all day until 6pm then £1.50. It's just 10 mins walk into the centre and walls.

No buffet, you have to book a time and order but there was a good variety. Rooms are very big with both a shower and bathtub, bed was very comfortable. The downside is that they do not clean your rooms daily, so you have to use the same towels and make your own bed unfortunately. I think this is due to covid, but was disappointed by it as I like a fresh towels and my room cleaned. Also no mini fridge in the room, but there is kettle, tea/coffee, safe, hairdryer, ironing board and free WiFi. Overall a nice traditional countryside English hotel with large rooms. Friendly staff and pretty gardens to sit outside.

This building like many others in this city is stunning and full of character. Dated from 1779 this country house is still lavish, with antique rugs, dark wooden furnishings and stairwell..the floorboards give that satisfying creak when you step on them. Anyway having checked in, the receptionist also takes £50 off your card, whatever you don't spend within the hotel they reimburse you..watch out for that. Each room is stunningly decorated, you can even watch tv while you have a dump :p we left the robes and slippers and walked down with our towels to the spa. The reception here provided us with towels and offered spa treatments ranging from £30 a back massage. We were here for the pool. ChAnging rooms were fabulous and spacious. With lockers, hair dryers and decent showers. Only dispute were old towels left behind..they should place a laundry basket here. Entering the pool was idyllic..the sun was just setting through the large conservatory windows. In the corner offers a Jacuzzi in which you activate by the switch..the pool was of decent size, overlooking the gym and the steam room was sufficient. The dry sauna was under construction though. Getting changed for dinner , we were led to a cosey room where a gent at the bar brought us our wine and a menu over. I believe it was three courses for just over £25. Bargain for Rosette quality food. Amongst the wood pigeon, I had the ricotta cheese bread crumbed balls,and mushroom risotto for main My friend ordered the pate and salmon for mains. A complimentary bruchetta was provided..making me first think the portions were going to be small. However food was spot on in quantity, and what I could taste (with a sinus cold) was divine. The waitress was very attentive, although we had to ask for butter for our bread. Overall a gorgeous hotel with food and service to match. I will be back.

The room was very modern, spacious and comfy and the blackout curtains ensured I got an excellent nights sleep. Packed to the brim with all the latest amenities, the bathroom is state of the art with a huge walk-in shower and even has heated floors! (Excellent when you walk in there first thing in the morning) The kitchen area in each of the rooms is small but has everything you need - although we didn't use this as only stayed one night. The staff are more than helpful and check out time isn't until 11am, giving you that extra bit of time to get out of the room in the morning. For £89 for a double room so close to Christmas it was an excellent find! I've paid more to stay in old premier inns. The location is spot on with just a 3 - 5 minute walk into the centre of Chester and is right next to the racecourse.

Restaurants serve very good food. If you're high maintenance, you're going to find things you don't like, but that's how you earn your HM Merit Badge isn't it? Stayed many hotels in the UK and this one is top fifteen percent for normal people. HMs will have to go back to the Four Seasons or the Ritz Carlton in Newport Beach and regale over how bad it was over an over-priced glass of Chardonnay. Me, I'm happy as a clam here enjoying my stay with shear joy I'm on holiday and not working!
