Absolutely gorgeous pond here. I found parking fairly easy. They have a great paved path you can walk around the pond or you can throw your kayak in. Incredibly breathtaking sunsets. Beautiful walking path around the lake. Lots of benches and places to sit at as well.

Love this place. There are tons of different trails so you can take a short walk or go for miles. It's impossible to get lost as there are so many different loops. You can go for an easy walk or go up the mountain and get an amazing view of the pond and Boston. There's tons of wildlife - two swans, tons of ducks, I've seen an owl sleeping in a tree and even a bald eagle. There's lots of people so it feels safe but not too overcrowded. The trails are very well taken care of, many of which are paved. There are so many different trails which keeps it interesting. There are tons of smaller ponds, the community garden, a golf course, etc. Highly recommend this place. read more

This is a beautiful pond with a great walking path. Half of the pond is along the street and has a sidewalk, half is through the woods. I went all the way around with a very sturdy stroller (I don't think an umbrella stroller would make it through). The sidewalk is tough for bike riding in my opinion just due to there not being a lot of room. The unpaved part has plenty of room. Great spot to walk your dog, jog or stroll with a friend. read more

Besides some other hidden gems like Mary Cummings Park, Horn Pond is the best Woburn has to offer in terms of beautiful recreation. If you're sick of seeing business park after business park in the other large parts of Woburn, at least this location will make you forget it's so industrial in parts. The paths are about 90% paved and a great place to take your pooch. My dog loves it and tries so hard to get to the water to take a drink (it BETTER be good as this is our main source for the tap). We love going up the strip that separates the lake into two. What I don't like is that the vehicles from Arlington Rd are whizzing by you about three feet away. I have to watch my dog very closely that he doesn't wander too close, even on leash. This is also where I tend to park, if it's not too crowded which all depends on the time of day and how nice the weather is. For instance, on a recent December night at dusk, we were the only ones parked here. A nice touch is live music in the summer at the Sturgis St. end of the lake. They put up a traveling stage on wheels that features a new band every Friday evening throughout the summer. I saw it ranged from bluegrass to reggae. This is about as beautiful as you're going to find in Woburn so if you're a resident, you should be here at least a few times a year to take in the scenery. Pro tip: The sunsets can be pretty spectacular and glisten on the water. read more

I went for the loveliest walk around Horn Pond yesterday and it was the most perfect Fall day! I am so glad I listened to the other positive reviews and set aside some "me" time to go explore this place. Horn Pond is simply beautiful and I brought my brand new digital camera to take some great nature shots of the leaves changing. The last time I was at Horn Pond was in the 7th grade when Steven Fumicello and I went fishing. We didn't catch any fish (probably a good thing since the pond was contaminated back then) and even worse, I crapped my pants. Steve and I had our fishing trip cut short by my impending bowel emergency. We knocked on some of the doors in the neighborhood but no one would let us in to use their bathroom - I was always baffled by this but in hindsight I don't think I'd help out two random 12 year old boys begging to go #2 in my bathroom. After the rejections at 5th and 6th house my spirit, faith in mankind, and underpants were all soiled forever. I called my mom from a payphone and she came to pick us up. Beautiful place to explore, with nice trails for walking/running. I came across this pond while driving last week, and decided to return today for a jog. I am of biracial descent, and at first I was taken back by the amount of "looks" I got from the prodominantly Caucasian community. But whatever. Didn't stop me! What really did it for me was, as I walked back to my car (which was parked in residential parking- on a Sunday I might add!) an older man approached me and told me I shouldn't park in front of his steps. I was parked on the street, mind you. Not blocking his driveway or any parts of his property. When I kindly mentioned that I was rightfully parked, he then proceeded to tell me that he "can't wait for Trump to become president" and that I need to go back to where I came from???? WHAT!! I hung around for a few minutes while I set up my gps, and his son came to the window to tell me he will call the cops because I am taking pictures of his home. I was not by the way! But even if I was, that's my right too! He then continued to call me a "fatass", telling me I should get out and run. Little did he know, I had just come from getting my daily exercise ;-) But the point of this review is to draw attention to the sad fact that: Racism is very much alive!!! I did not deserve to be treated this way! Especially considering I came to this beautiful pond for a PEACEFUL morning jog. Sucks that it was ruined with such ignorance!!! read more

A real hidden gem on the Woburn-Winchester line, Horn Pond is a haven for parents with strollers, joggers, dog-walkers, fishermen, and kayakers. On a sunny weekend there are lots of people but the paths (the main circuit around the lake is paved) are roomy enough for everyone. There are benches all around, and plenty of parking in a lot on Lake Avenue, along with picnic tables, and sometimes an ice cream truck in the summer. Dogs are allowed but they must be leashed and you have to scoop the poop. All swimming is forbidden. There are put-ins for canoes and kayaks, no fuel-powered boats are allowed. The pond is part of the city's water supply system. It's a surprisingly good place for bird watching, with ducks and swans, I've seen herons there, and for a while there was a hawk family. A photographer used to take pictures of them on the weekends and he would sometimes let people take a peek through his gigantic zoom lens to watch them in their aerie. The circuit is around 2 miles, so it feels a little more intimate than Lake Quannapowitt, and it is a little quieter since it doesn't have major highways bordering it. A community group called WREN (Woburn Residents Environmental Network) advocates for the pond and meets there Saturdays to walk and pick up trash. You can tell from the dedications on the benches that this place is treasured by the neighborhood. read more

Horn Pond is Woburn's hidden gem. There's always plenty of parking on the Sturgis street side. The main path is a 2 mile loop, half wooded and half along Arlington street which is a bit busy. There are several other paths through the woods as well. Fishing is spot on with the causeway being the best spot, plenty of small and largemouth bass. I believe rainbow trout and salmon can be found too. The pond is stocked annually. The community and the city of Woburn treat the pond with respect. Trash and dog waste make their way into the barrels and vegetation and brush are neatly trimmed back. Beware of the poison ivy (which is found everywhere in MA and Horn pond is no exception) The only thing missing is a real playground but I think that and a splash pad is coming soon where the old school used to be. read more

I used to walk around here alllll the time. Interesting place to walk. You can still see the foundations for the ski-lift back when the hill had skiing. Speaking of that hill - only true locals can locate the indentation in the rock from where the American Indians used to grind corn.... As you walk around the pond, you can see the old abandoned parking lot - from back when skiing and beach-going was popular here. Further into the woods and you'll bump up against people golfing at the Woburn Country Club. Nice little walk through the woods and along a super-busy road. read more

Just moved to the area and love to take our active dog to the pond. The walking dog owners are happy to say hello and many will let the animals meet and greet. We have had a blast watching the swans raise their babies, who are now out and about. We will be going to this little gem for years to come. Beware of the swan poop, though! read more

Tons of mamas and babes, puppies and owners, and people soaking in the joy that comes from stretching their legs in a quite serene setting. You are only on the side of the streets for a little bit but mostly around the pond;) There is all sorts of nature, scenic views and a lot of trails on where you can explore. Therefore, I am giving Horn Pond one star only because the city has not stepped up to declare that Horn Pond is not polluted, nor more importantly posted signs to stay away from water, dogs, fishing, etc. Instead the city and apartment complexes are promoting the polluted HORN POND as a nearby ATTRACTION fit for, are you ready for this? SWIMMING!. Yes YOU can go SWIIMMING in these polluted waters according to brochures and advertisements! Imagine the ethics and ignorance of all involved in this inexcusable safety risk, exploiting it for profit by leading people to BELIEVE a poluted body of water is SAFE. In fact, it is all over the web including water assessments, that ALL indications are that HORN POND is severely POLLUTED. I looked up the water assessment for Horn Pond there is a lot of "H" ratings, which means HIGH THREAT (yes, I could NOT believe my eyes at the endless dumpings and leakages from reports; local business are dumping chemicals and toxins into the pond it appears from these reports.) IN ADDITION raw sewage is is apparently being dumped into the Horn Pond. This is not drinking water, the purification system is located UNDER the pond. I was quite disgusted with no signs posted after my dog, inspired by many other dogs swimming in the water jumped in, frolicked and playing. People EVERYWHERE were fishing! Apparently dogs who go in this pond have a higher incidence of cancer. Make NO mistake, this is no Walden Pond, it's a disgrace according to all web reports. Here are some links choose for yourself. There is a parking lot open till sunset on site. During seasonal spring, summer, fall periods, a vendor will usually be there selling sausages, and cold drinks. It is a great place for local outdoor activity not very far from Boston. Many joggers, bikers, boaters, and walkers can be seen. Horn Pond has many memories for me. I'm a 13 year old Burlington resident. I come here often to fish and ride my bike, but mostly the second thing. There is a 2 mile circuit that is paved, but there is some off-road bike trails. There is an area halfway through with benches. The scenery is very nice in the spring and summer. Towards the end (depending on which way you go, but this is the way I usually take) there are clean restrooms. By there, there is often a food cart with slush, sausages, and other good food. This is a very nice place to walk, jog, fish, bike, or things like that. read more

My father in his 80's enjoyed walking daily around the pond daily, was from Arlington. He started off helping my brother inlaw walk the pond after an illness prevented him from walking without a cane, til one day my dad threw the cane in the pond and forced him to go without it. it made him stronger. We put a bench around the pond as a tribute to my mom and dad. I'm the biker who rides around the pond with a toddler in a front-mounted carrier. If you're walking clockwise around the water, you'll hear her tiny high pitched voice behind you: "On your left! Thank you!" as we pass. You may even hear her screaming "Go faster, Daddy! Faster!" as I hammer up one of the short inclines on the 2 mile mostly flat, mostly paved path. What a beautiful place! Though I've lived in the area for my entire life, I just discovered Horn Pond. It took me about 45 minutes to walk the circumference with a baby carriage, and that was the perfect length of time. We saw lot of dogs, joggers, bikers, and families with children, and there were benches scattered along the trail for an easy pit stop. When we returned to the parking lot, we stopped at the stand for a slushy, which was the perfect end to a perfect walk. read more
