This is a beautiful pond with a great walking path. Half of the pond is along the street and has a sidewalk, half is through the woods. I went all the way around with a very sturdy stroller (I don't think an umbrella stroller would make it through). The sidewalk is tough for bike riding in my opinion just due to there not being a lot of room. The unpaved part has plenty of room. Great spot to walk your dog, jog or stroll with a friend.

I've been going there for about 10 years and love it. Beautiful scenery and nice walking paths for anyone to use. The top of of mountain which has an amazing view of the boston skyline. The lake is quite beautiful even during the winter time. Plenty of parking spots.

I went for the loveliest walk around Horn Pond yesterday and it was the most perfect Fall day! I am so glad I listened to the other positive reviews and set aside some "me" time to go explore this place. Horn Pond is simply beautiful and I brought my brand new digital camera to take some great nature shots of the leaves changing. It is a great getaway from the city and I felt so relaxed and at peace after spending some time in the fresh air. Do yourselves a favor and go enjoy this beautiful spot! Bring a picnic if you want to make an afternoon out of it.

What a nice surprise Horn Pond is. It caters to all: families with kids + strollers, the casual walker, folks who want some respite, dog walkers, joggers, and even meatheads. They have chin up bars and pull up bars sprinkled throughout the park. You can easily circle the pond and take in the nice scenery and it's pretty calm, all the car noise is muffled by the trees.

Great place for biking or jogging. Beautiful all seasons. Love the swans there. Many other birds and turtles.

Great place to go for a walk. The whole thing probably takes about 45 minutes and is pretty scenic. The walk is very dog friendly and you'll see plenty of other folks around here as well.

LOVE this place. Excellent for a walk with your dog or a jog. It's clean and beautiful. The paths are well maintained and people are polite about moving to the side and controlling their dogs.

Great area for a run. Beautiful scenery and trails on one end to extend the run. Definitely my new running grounds when in the area.

Love everything about it (except see final sentence) - there's a main loop and tons of off the main path routes.

Lake Quannapowitt - Sunset at Lake Q

Lake Quannapowitt

Ignorance is bliss isn't it? Well I believe so, especially when you come across some scenic beauty…read moresuch as this lake in Wakefield, Massachusetts. It is what it is. Lake Quannapowitt is one of those places. Very beautiful, placid, natural beauty that is a beautiful and also catches the eye of anyone who is willing to listen to her beauty. I came across this lady lake when staying at the Lakeside Inn nearby on a May 2022 visit in the area. It is located about an hour or so from downtown Boston, Massachusetts, so it's not really that far away. Since I had a flight cancellation, and subsequently rebooked, I had extra time on my hands. And so I got up Sunday morning, got dressed and put on my running shoes, and headed out of the hotel room. I learn through Google is about 3 miles around with biking past. I also learned that the area around the lake is or has been used for endurance events from local 5k's to ultramarathons in the past. Maybe one day I'll return here and I'll do an ultra marathon for my own personal goals and benefit. But for now, it was just me up on a Sunday morning getting in some exercise while killing some time here in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Most awesome thing that was here was the fact that it was basically calm and smooth. I think it was shallow too. The bike path was very walkable, and did not have any significant potholes or anything that can pause a minute to trip and fall. It was one of the more easier walks I've done in a while. In total I must have done three labs before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. I think I got up around 7 AM that morning and 9 miles around the lake three times took me about three hours, not caring about stuff and just focused on the beauty of the local area that I was in. The scenery of Lake Quannapowitt really called me to where I was not really thinking of anything important at the time, only the fact that the airline screwed me by canceling my flight but I ended up getting home earlier than planned but a day later. The overall experience here at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, MA was nice, quiet, and inspirational. While it was nice to have time to myself on a beautiful Sunday morning walking the circumference of the lake, I was supposed to be flying back home and not be here walking the lake, but it seems like the universe had other plans for me that May 2022 day. Natural green beauty is great here and it was nice to have this lake nearby where I was staying, so it was easy access all around. There is also a gazebo that seemed historic and a well known local place marker. I think the local community uses the gazebo for local events throughout the year. For the most part though, it was bittersweet to have this time with Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, Massachusetts. I enjoyed my time here trying to enjoy the area and enhance my spiritual self during my laps around the lake. At the same time, I should have been on that flight out of Boston when I was supposed to have been walking. If you are fond of nature and lakes, consider the lake front path at Lake Quannapowitt here in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Quite a majestic place really. Hidden gem. Definitely recommend it if you are in the area. Lake Quannapowitt is located in Wakefield, Massachusetts. I-95 passes thru the area and North Avenue crosses the area too. Lakeside Inn and Suites, where I stayed in May 2022, sits on the edge of the lake. As far as public access goes, it's open green space, so you can come and go as you please. There's no admission fee here, as all public parks and green spaces don't, which is usually expected and awesome. As far as parking goes, there is a small parking area while I was doing the loops. As a small town such as Wakefield, there's usually plenty of street parking in the immediate vicinity for anyone and everyone to park and enjoy the Lake and it's paved pathways. One of the best things about the area is that its away from any metro areas and it does have a suburban feel to Wakefield. Not really a small town vibe, since it's kind of attached to the city of Boston. As far as public transportation goes, there is a line that goes from Boston to Wakefield, but you'd have to depart from Boston's North End station. The entire experience was as good as it could have been if I did this on Saturday evening instead of Sunday morning. It is what it is. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A

My friend and I came here on a Saturday morning. I didn't realize there were so many parking lots…read morearound, but we parked where the GPS took us. We walked a bit to the right and there were so many dogs - it must be an unofficial dog park, or happy hour for the dogs. They were all so cute. My friend had come before so he recommend we walk to Wright's Tower since it gives a vast view of the neighboring houses and landscape but also Boston in the far distance. It was a perfect hike of about 45 minutes there, and about an hour back since we did trailblaze a bit. We were following a GPS, but there are colors and signs periodically on the trees to guide you through the trails. I wouldn't say its too scenic, but it is relaxing and the terrain is perfect, with some spots being intermediate level but mostly all of it being beginner or easy. We did see some people on bikes, and others jogging. When we got to the tower, we went inside and climbed the stairs to the top. From there, you can look out in all directions to get some really nice views. It is worth the climb. We plan on eventually going back and trying longer or more challenging trails. But overall I think it's a gem that isn't too far from the city.

Found areas where beer/drink cans were discarded near some of the lakes. Overall, I will continue to visit.
