Any decent chef would have not served them as the salad leaves on the plate were very wilted neither of us ate them. Died the week previous, by the look. The burger buns were possibly the cheapest available anywhere. When our food arrived we ordered more drinks. A large Chardonnay and thatchers haze. A wine and beer arrived, order taken by same person, completely wrong. So my advice is to steer clear if you want a decent meal and the drinks you order. It's a shame as it's in a prime location.

Good choice of food on the menu, with something to suit all tastes, any alterations needed are easily accommodated as all allergies are checked on ordering. Nothing seemed too much trouble. They open around 12ish and we were the first ones to be seated. We ordered soups, a chicken burger, a bean burger and a pesto wrap to eat. The soup on this particular day was turnip or parsnip (i think). Nevertheless it tasted very well and the bread that accompanied it was also beautifully baked. The chicken burger tasted well, it was a Thai style burger. It came with 2 onion rings and all the trimmings. It also came with a bowl of chips. Whilst it tasted well it felt slightly overdone, not too much, just a little bit. This made the burger fell a little dry. However, it was not catastrophic. The bean burger also was well made and was flavoursome, as was the pesto wrap. By the time we got through the burgers we were so full that we couldn't finish the chips, which was a bit sad. The service was great and the prices were regular pub-grub prices. I would definitely go back, based on this experience and sincerely hope they maintain their levels of quality, taste and service.

Even though it was almost 15 GBP it was extremely large and it felt like it could have been for 4 people. This place is a great addition to Lincoln and I look forward to returning.

It stands in the shadow of the castles Cobb Tower on top of which public hangings were done..eg strugglers. This pub also seems to be haunted by the Black Dog seen elsewhere. The hungry phantom hound reported to haunt the castle walls would sometimes try to enter this inn, scratching and barking at the door.

It seems pretty good but was a bit slapdash in service and how it was run. It was very crowded. The place itself is nice and has a great location between the castle and cathedral. In the day it seems to attract families with young children and in the evening older clientelle, probably locals. An old magician called Wally Sleight wanders about in here in the day trying to get customers to buy him a pint in exchange for a trick. Unfortunately there are never any seats out of the riverside but I think (not sure) they have a small garden. Anyway this is another for the ghost guide: Not very exciting I am afraid. The pumps have been known to activate themselves, and ice is thrown around by an invisible hand. Interesting that the Green Dragon, almost next door, has pumps that switch off. Maybe it is the same ghost playing tricks or prefers the beer at the Witch to the Dragon.
