They do pizza really well, but they also have a smoker and many smokehouse items are on the menu. Large portions, friendly, and lively service, and a great bar, at prices that are sane. The vibe is welcoming and laid-back (we visited between lunch and dinner), perfect for a casual outing with solid food and drinks. We started with the crispy shrimp appetizer, which came out golden brown and perfectly paired with a sweet chili sauce. The wings were meaty and slathered in a bold, sticky BBQ sauce, exactly what you want from pub-style wings. The first time we came a couple years ago was rocky. Sat at the bar, got some waters while we looked at the beer and food menus and no one came back for 10 minutes or more so we left. Took us a while to go back but had 2 nice experiences after. The French onion soup was good and we are big critics of this. The chicken cutlet dish was delicious but pretty pricey. Chicken Caesar salad was plentiful but salad prices everywhere are outta control. Have a nice beer selection and best yet they have a patio and allow dogs. The "Why" behind the review: We went here to meet friends for dinner over the holidays and at first I thought this place was very cozy, and had an amazing atmosphere. The part that went wrong was the ordering of our food and when it came out. We ordered a couple of drinks and appetizers and they came and then we ordered the main entree and I kid not that within minutes the entree came out as we just started eating our appetizers so now I'm stuck with all the food and it felt very hurried. Typically, there should be some time in between the appetizer and entree but not in this case. I also noticed that at the end of our order, the waiter was looking to close out or pass us onto another waiter as his shift was ending so I wonder if there was any attribution regarding that we were his last customers. The food was ok, the mussels were excellent, however we could barely eat them, the salmon was ok, and the plating had way too much rice, could've done with 1/2 and more vegetables. My wife's salad was supposed to include chicken which we had to remind the waiter and he corrected this as it was already made but he initially forgot to bring it out. I think all these instances made me feel that the service was subpar and could've been better with the timing of food, forgetfulness, and maybe a bit hurried. I will give this place another chance because the food seems good but that night the service was not. read more

This is a well decorated restaurant in honor of the old firehouse and decorated well. 3 stars due to we visited during peak hours and a few things fell short. This easily could be 4-5 stars on a less busy or better day. We visited during peak hours and parking was limited. There is a parking lot and street parking, but during busy hours, guests may have to circle a few times to find a spot. Outside there was a fire ring which would be awesome to sit by with a few drinks on a warmer evening. We set reservations two weeks ahead of time which was an easy process. For a party of 7 on a Saturday night, the service was good. Tables with other guests were so close to each other it was uncomfortable. One in our party sat on the end in the main traffic aisle to the kitchen. There was no room at the other end since the table next to us was so close. Some of our party had to go to the restroom and it was described like a maze, which way can I weave and fit through best to get there? It was a situation once seated, it was like auditorium seating. At least one other person in your party has to move to let you out. Due to being so packed in, it was really loud! We wanted to enjoy a dinner and conversation but we could only hear the person next to us or across from us. This also lead to the server having to reach over uncomfortably to deliver food and drinks. When the food was ready, all was delivered but one dinner. They had a team of staff deliver so it wasn't just the server who brought food to the table. When the server came over after 5 minutes to ask if everything was ok (since no one began eating), we were able to inform her we were still waiting on one dinner. No water refills came around but we did get asked for other drink refills often. They were able to split checks and it was accurate. I will go back, if I could reserve a spot not in such a condensed seating area and with a smaller party. read more

Nice historic building, well maintained and clean. It is nicely decorated inside in honor of the old firehouse. We went on a Saturday afternoon, around 12:30. Parking lot was full but there was hardly anyone inside. We were cheerfully and promptly seated and our drink order was taken shortly after that. It wasn't long for our drinks to arrive, when they did we put in our food order. Both drinks were really good. It took about 15 minutes for the fried pickles to come out. Huge basket, perfectly cooking with a nice, well balanced, dipping sauce. It took another 20-25 minutes for our wings and pulled pork sandwich to arrive. The wings were huge, perfectly cooked and the parm/garlic sauce was excellent. My sandwich was excellent. Hardly portion of pork topped with cheese, pickles, and a pickled cabbage. Wonderfully tasty. The side of fries was generous, seasoned well, but could've used a little more time in the fryer. They were limp and a little soggy. What a wonderful place... it's an old fire station that is now a restaurant. The inside is filled with fire fighting memorabilia. The menu is great with lots pubby choices.... My wife had the pulled Pork and she gave it 5 stars. The appetizers we had , fried pickles and onion soup was amazing. My steak sandwich was good ... it definitely could have used more meat. That's the only reason for not 4.... The real score should be 4.75.... The staff is awesome... Ashley was our waitress and guided us through the menu and her recommendations were on point! My family and I were driving around Irondequoit and figured we'd try a new place to eat since we don't live that close. We chose Hose 22 because it looked like the menu had a decent selection and the fire outside looked pretty atmospheric. It was a nice cool night and seemed like the perfect place- and it was for us! We sat inside because we have a young child and an infant, the staff was really great with that. They have high chairs and kids cups, so that was great- kids menus with crayons would really make this place even better for families. It's loud in there so we didn't feel we were bothering anyone which is always a plus as parents who still want to enjoy a night out with our young family without feeling embarrassed by crying or light hearted baby screeches. We ordered the margarita and the enchilada pizzas. The dough was really exceptional. They were both fired perfectly too. No complaints at all. We also got bbq wings. They were a bit over sauced but I suppose I'd prefer that to under sauced. They were good. The presentation was great. Service was great- you can tell people care about their tables and have a good sense of urgency. Overall, we absolutely want to make the drive to come back again. read more

We have been to Hose 22 before and decided to return for lunch. We were a group of 4, arrived about 12:30pm and had seats in a comfortable booth. Our server was Rachael. While it appeared she was serving alone during the lunch hour, she was very attentive, prompt, and efficient to our needs, as well as the other estimated seven groups at lunch. The food was very good (two delicious rubins and two huge salads). The restaurant's atmosphere is like actually being in an old firehouse, but very clean and inviting! Hose 22 is a spot I've been wanting to try for awhile but just kept forgetting. But I was able to get a reservation for a late dinner on a Friday night. There is no online reservation system so you have to call. Easy to find with GPS and they have a large parking lot. Our table was clean and ready on arrival. Service was prompt and friendly. They have a large drink menu (yay). The Moscow Mule was refreshing and my companion was happy with her beer choice. The house salad is a large entree option. But I really wanted a salad to start. The server did warn me that it was an entiree. They have no starter salads. All the ingredients were fresh and I'd get this again. We both opted for dinner specials which we were both happy with. The stuffed fish (stuffed with crab cake) was flaky and well-seasoned. The fish fry was perfectly coated and crispy. Both of us decided we'd skip the fries in the future. They were somewhat cold and unseasoned. They do not have a mobile pay option which I have enjoyed at other restaurants. We've decided this a definite addition to our fav list. read more

Visited Hose 22 for the first time with some friends. It's a very cool looking building being stationed inside of a old fire house. I has a nice outside seating/fire pit area that although we didn't sit near, it added to the overall ambiance of the experience. Hose 22 also has it own parking lot that could get full easily on busy nights but it is a good size so most nights you will not have to look for alternative parking. (ie. street or elsewhere) So now to the dinning experience. Our server was Emily. (Hope that is how she spells it lol) She was awesome! To be honest, I saw here flying around the room and was on top of everything. She was nice enough to bring me a sample of the coleslaw they offer as a side to the Ribs (we'll get to that in second, calm down!) and let our table see if we liked it. The verdict was a strong pass, yet it wasn't nasty; just not the choice for us that night. We also all got wine slushies which you can get your hands on for a smooth 7 bucks. Not bad at all. I would suggest getting them mixed! Just thinking about it has got me shaking my head. The menu is LARGE, both in physical size and in content. So from that my expectations were good food, but nothing spectacular. Now too the food. Appetizers: Chicken wings(Cajun and sweet habanero)= solid wings. good taste and seasoned well. If you get them you won't be disappointed. Fried Pickles= THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!!! They were beyond expectations! Entrees: Ribs, served with sweet potatoes fries and potato salad.=Ribs were alright. they were a little to sweet with the sauce. Some parts were very tender and fall off the bone. but then other parts near the ends of the bone were DRY! Dry meaning they had sauce on them but swallowing the meat was like a Popeyes biscuit! Not gonna lie I did almost choke on a piece of rib haha. Fries and potato salad was good however. Pizza: (It was a steak pizza I couldn't find the name on the menu) Was very very good Pizza! Probably the best I've had from a restaurant ever for pizza. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST THE PIZZA! We finished the night with a slice of cheese cake form cheesy eddies they offered. My husband and I made a reservation for 7:30PM on a Saturday night due to the advice of my friend who is a server there. When we arrived, the place was packed but there did not seem to be anyone waiting for a table so we possibly couldn't taken a chance without a reservation. The decor of the restaurant is just as others describe - an old firehouse filled with local history, fire equipment and even fire jackets representing local FD's. There is a blurb on the menu that give a bit more background to how the place came about, which is interesting to read! I ordered a Free Bird - tequila, grapefruit & lime juices with soda. SO good, but a bit tart. Possibly could ask for less lime juice. My husband had a Ruby Kolsch beer they had on tap (seasonal so this will change.). We started off with the fried pickles, which, in my opinion, are a must try - obviously unless you hate pickles! So good, the spicy sauce was served in 2 bowls which was perfect because sometimes it seems there isn't enough sauce to whatever you are dipping ratio! I ordered the ribs with sweet potato wedges and potato salad (didn't think that one through but I didn't want coleslaw) and my husband ordered the Buffalo Mac and cheese. The ribs - fall off the bone, tender and tasty! The BBQ sauce was amazing on the tastebuds! I ate my ribs and the cornbread that came with, and packed up my potato sides because I was TOO FULL! So much food. My husbands Buffalo Mac was phenomenal, and the serving size was insane. He will not have Buffalo Mac for lunch probably 3 days this week! This unique restored 1916 Firehouse is the best example of a converted fire station turned restaurant we've been to thus far, and I've been to several. The food was really amazing too. We started with the nachos and had their jalapeño popper dip added and let me tell you....those nachos were incredible! Huge portion, we ended up filling up on those and didn't have room for our entrees. Good news is that even leftover the entrees were excellent. I booked the Red Room for my wedding. I had 28 guests, and the room was the perfect size for such an intimate gathering. They prepared buffet style lunch that was out of this world. Downstairs area is my favorite in the winter and the by the fire in the summer. Love the fact it's one of one, nice firehouse. Fireman Burger or Ribs are my go to.
