Hoshi means "Star" in Japanese and since it is located in the lone star state, they felt the name was fitting. They take great pride in their homemade obanyaki's. We got ours filled with red bean paste and it was fantastic. You could tell the baked shell was homemade and delicious. My son loved his tuna onigiri. It was really large and tasty. He said it was freshly made. I adored my butterfly drink that was beautiful and full of yummy flavor. It was excellent. I also really enjoyed my tamago sandwich. The egg salad had some sugar and condensed milk added to the filling. This made it taste great. The service was excellent. We had our sandwiches in a few minutes. The decor is so bright and colorful. This is such a cute place! They have adorable wall art. I get the spam and egg Musubi with a strawberry calpico as my usual order and sometimes I get these cute little Nutella filled pandas that are SCRUMPTIOUS! The staff is super sweet but it does take a bit of time for the order to get ready because there aren't usually more than 2-3 people. I would definitely recommend this place though! read more

I always like Japanese desserts. They prepare their sweet delights exquisitely, like taiyaki and doriyaki. But this time, I was at Hoshi, getting their obanyakis with taro and matcha fillings. I liked the matcha filling better, which was sweet and creamy. But what I liked most was the cake. It was soft, fluffy, and toasty, right off the grill. They have many other snacks, like Texas-sized onigiri with various meat options, and cold and hot drinks. The place looks pretty cute. Its warm and cozy with Japanese style murals. I tried the matcha latte ($8) while my friend got the melon cream soda ($8). I liked my latte which wasn't too sweet and actually had a pretty rich, smooth, and slightly bitter matcha flavor. I also tried the karaage for the first time and honestly loved it. it had way more flavor than others I've had. Absolutely love this little cafe. Besides having obanyaki (which is my favorite) they have yummae drinks, texas size onigiri, AND Okonomiyaki (which is what I got). The trouble is when you need to select which filling you want to try in your obanyaki. I finally decided on the strawberry filling ichigo an, and the hubs got matcha filling. Yum, comes out hot with a crispy texture on the outside, soft on the inside. When I saw hojicha latte on the menu, I almost fainted. This is my most favorite Japanese hot drink. I got it iced with oatmilk and it was the most delicious hojicha drink I've had to date. There is maybe one other cafe that has this that I can think of. The service here is wonderful. I tried this Japanese Cafe which opened almost about three months ago. I ordered Taro Milk Tea with Boba and Shaka Shaka mini plain waffles. The milk tea tastes just an ordinary one, nothing special. The Shaka Shaka waffles are not moist. They're both pricey. I was expecting a real authentic Japanese desserts. But they didn't meet my expectations. Friendly people and well lighted place. Came in after seeing people enjoy Hoshi Cafe on TikTok, and I'm happy to report that the hype is well deserved! It's decorated so cutely inside, with a claw machine and an adorable mural, I appreciated that even the bathroom had an ambient sound machine playing nature sounds for extra privacy. Everyone was welcoming, kind, and efficient, making sure we understood the menu and were satisfied with our meals. Both my partner and I got the Combo B meal, with two onigiri, one obanyaki, and one drink. I got the miso salmon and the sukiyaki beef onigiri, the custard obanyaki, and the strawberry butterfly yuzu tea. Everything was absolutely delicious; when they say the onigiri are Texas-sized, they absolutely are!! I tried my partner's spicy tuna onigiri and it was ACTUALLY spicy, not just sriracha spicy, so be aware lol. Even after polishing off both onigiri and chatting throughout, the obanyaki were still piping hot. The custard inside was so thick and smooth, with a delicious vanilla flavor. Lastly, the tea was super refreshing and tasty, with pieces of candied yuzu at the bottom; it was hard not to order a second one to go. During my trip to visit my good friends in Plano last month, I was brought here for an afternoon cool treat. The first thing I immediately noticed was the feeling inside Hoshi Japanese Cafe feels very authentic to cafes I've been to in Tokyo myself. When I placed my order with the nice women, it confirmed to me they were clearly native Japanese. For both of my visits here, I ordered their Coffee Jelly with Milk and it was refreshing and and not too sweet, as I would expect from their recipe from Japan. The ladies who took my order also brought out our drinks to us at our table, while we were waiting, even though all of our drinks were to go. The level of quality and service from this cafe was amazing and when I come back to visit Plano, I will be sure to stop through for another cool treat. read more

The onigiri is filling and fresh, the obanyaki was good as well although slightly tough on the batter the red bean was the perfect texture and sweetness level, and the hojicha was brewed fresh and tasted great. My only complaint is the price. This order was nearly $20. That kind of pricing keeps people from wanting to visit frequently. I feel like $12-$13 for all of these items would've been fair and still a big profit for them. The decor is fun and cute and the music matches it well (mostly early 2000s jpop/jrock). read more

I visited this Store for the first time, my daughter's third visit. When she went the second time, the rice balls were sold out, so this time we decided to go during lunch hours. I ordered the ume okaka (plum and bonito flakes), Japanese sausage rice ball, hojicha latte, and the yuzu butterfly drink that I had been wanting to try. The rice balls tasted just like the nostalgic flavors of Japan and were absolutely amazing. My daughter also said the Japanese sausage rice ball was incredibly delicious. The hojicha latte wasn't overly sweet and tasted just right. My daughter's yuzu butterfly drink was perfectly sweet and refreshingly cold even without ice, and she said it was very tasty. The staff were very kind and brought our orders directly to our table as soon as they were ready. This Japanese-style service was wonderful and made me feel nostalgic for my home country.
