I always like Japanese desserts. They prepare their sweet delights exquisitely, like taiyaki and doriyaki. But this time, I was at Hoshi, getting their obanyakis with taro and matcha fillings. I liked the matcha filling better, which was sweet and creamy. But what I liked most was the cake. It was soft, fluffy, and toasty, right off the grill. They have many other snacks, like Texas-sized onigiri with various meat options, and cold and hot drinks. The place looks pretty cute. Its warm and cozy with Japanese style murals. I'll be back to try some other things.

Fun Japanese cafe in Plano that has cute drinks and tasty snacks! I actually really enjoyed their onigiri - which are hard to find good ones in North Texas! They also host car events too for anyone interested in JDM culture

Was craving onigiri and found this hidden gem that did not leave us disappointed!! They are not lying when they say that these are Texas size onigiri, depending on how hungry you are, you can definitely share one of these. They have a great variety of options and flavors, and the chicken is good if you're not a huge seafood fan! The service was quick and the cashier helped us decide what flavors we wanted and things came out quickly and hot! The overall vibe is pretty cute and clean, felt like a nice hangout spot. Will be back soon!

Onigiris were great. My favorite was the suyaki beef! Super tender and flavorful. Both drinks had good quality matcha and blended well. Service was great as well. They took the time to explain and answer all the questions we had. I wish this spot was closer to me!

Tucked in the back corner of a building, it's easy to miss this cute Japanese cafe with its menu of savory onigiri, sweet obanyaki desserts, and variety of fruit and matcha drinks. I tried the matcha latte ($8) while my friend got the melon cream soda ($8). I liked my latte which wasn't too sweet and actually had a pretty rich, smooth, and slightly bitter matcha flavor. I would definitely recommend this spot for its matcha! However my friend said her drink was too sweet and couldn't finish it. Maybe it was a one-off. The staff member taking our order was friendly, and the space is quite large, and some people were there getting work done.

Very cute Japanese cafe which serves authentic Japanese street food like obanyaki, pandayaki (panda shaped obanyaki), Texas size onigiri and delicious Japanese drinks. The lady behind the counter was always pleasant and greets you cheerfully as soon as you walk in even if she's busy making some fresh obanyaki. Plenty of seating and walls are decorated/ painted with fun colors. They also sell trinkets and bags of ground coffee. It's a definite place to check out and try Japanese street snacks.

Yummyy!! I tried the beef onigiri, spam and egg, and ume plum onigiri and all three were sooo good. My favorite is probably the beef one - both the beef and the rice is seasoned really well! The rice to filling ratio is also perfect on their onigiri so you dont have to dig through bites of just rice to get to the filling Will definitely be back to try more stuff! Space is clean and service was friendly. I think the onigiris are made to order so it took around 10-15 mins when i went there but i dont mind the short wait bc it was warm and fresh! c:

Cute little Japanese cafe in the same compound where the post office is. Obanyaki is one of my most favorite Japanese snack. It is sweet but on a lighter side of sweet. I really enjoy it when it is freshly made and still warm. I bought the traditional red bean and taro obanyaki and got 6pcs of Shaka Shaka Pandayaki filled with Nutella. I had to wait about 10 minutes for this one cause she didn't have one available yet. My order was wrapped nicely, very fluffy and still really warm. It's a perfect sweet but not so sweet snack.

Had an amazing experience at Hoshi. The matcha is on point. I went a bit late and they ran out of rice bowls. I had a strawberry matcha latte and one of the best.

This place is about an hour from me, but I'll always make the drive, the onigiri is just that good. I also tried the karaage for the first time and honestly loved it. it had way more flavor than others I've had. I was a little disappointed they got rid of the curry bun, that was my favorite in DFW.

Hoshi Japanese Cafe in Plano,TX reminded me so much of cafes I ran across during my trip to Tokyo last year. In fact, the proprietors are originally from Japan. The products, interior decor, and vibe all scream Japan to me. During my most recent trip to visit good friends in Plano, we stopped in here at least twice and both times, I ordered their Cold Brew with Cold Foam. Not too sweet, bold coffee taste and well balanced. The sweet ladies who helped us were gracious, helpful in helping us decide what to order, and even brought out our drinks to us while we were seated. Service done the right way here.

The onigiri is packed (Okii) The yuzu matcha was amazing The gyudon was mid for Japan, but great for the USA. We loved the anko and custard desserts. Definitely a place to go if you're looking for a taste of authentic Japanese food. The hoji cha is excellent!! I will definitely go there again!

Located among the shops and bars of historic downtown sits 1418 Coffee, a cute and genuinely great little shop that fits the area perfectly. Inside, the shop is fairly narrow but offers a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I arrived with a friend a little before 11 am on a Sunday, and it was absolutely packed. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. They consistently do a great job and fit right into the charm of downtown Plano. RIYL: A warm haven in a beautiful downtown.

The staff was really kind and helped me navigate a few syrup options since I am dairy free. I finally settled on a large almond milk late with two sugar in the raw. I quickly realized this is not an overly digitized coffee experience, which I like, but it did mean it took a lot longer to make my drink than I anticipated. The kind barista finally gave me my drink and we had to jet out to make football practice. The ambiance was chill. Almost every seat in the place was taken by someone with a laptop so I'm not sure I would come back here with the intent to find a seat. The latte was okay. The espresso tasted a little burnt and was actually quite weak - I wish I had gotten an extra shot. I'm glad I made it back to try Mudleaf, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to try it again.

If you're someone who finds traditional matcha a little too strong or grassy, this is a great option. It was lighter, fruit-forward, and the mango flavor came through nicely. Trisha took my order and was super awesome at making many great recommendations while Miriam cranked the beverages for the people ahead of me. Loved the GF option for an almond loaf. This reminds me of a wonderful home cafe mixed with a nice southern coffee shop. They even have seating outside for a beautiful day like the day I went. Very Austin vibes. Seating options are from regular wood bench to a cozy couch. Loved the live plants that add fresh air and a nice atmosphere. They had low playing music that was very urban so you can carry a conversation while supporting smaller artists and working on work. Headphones if you'd like your own music would be great and wouldn't be interrupted with the music playing in the shop. Biscoff caramel latte: Wonderful flavor of coffee. I was fearful it'd be too sweet but it was perfectly sweetened. The Biscoff crumbles add the Biscoff flavor and the caramel isn't overpowering. It's a soft balance of the two together. The foam was pleasant and would recommend hot. Personally would love a stronger Biscoff flavor cause Biscoff is my favorite cracker. But other than that, a super solid beverage. Almond Loaf (GF): The crumble and moist texture were perfect. Not too crazy of a GF taste. Different but wonderful. The top has a crumble similar to Almond croissant that is so satisfying if you're craving a lil more sweet with your bite. Together: Wonderful together. The almond loaf isn't dense but it doesn't completely fall apart either. Super happy.
