Having practiced in San Fran and fallen in love with Bikram Hot Yoga, I've been searching London for a suitable replacement.
The closest I have come so far is Hot Bikram Yoga in London Bridge. The practice is the same, although the ethos, whilst it has its heart in the right place, just isn't quite there.
Overall I'm very happy and would recommend these guys if you're into Bikram. Although here are the pro's and con's so you
Pro's:
The easy booking system
That they are very strict with the 26 position practice - which is the same as I practiced in San Fran
The room is the correct heat and humidity - very hot
You don't need to bring a mat
Towels are cheap (£1.50) if you forget yours, water and locks are also available as well as a range of healthy treats
The enthusiasm and personality of the instructors, their willingness to explain and elaborate on the practice, their love for it and how motivating they are
The studio is very clean, they have lockers for you to store your stuff (if you have a lock), hairdryers, taps to get water etc.
IT'S HOT YOGA!
Con's
They cram you in - some classes are just too full and with mats right next to each other you feel cramped which makes it hard to relax into your practice 'relaxing obviously being very important'
The women's changing room is far too small and it's rammed full at the beginning and end of classes, so you can't really use the facilities affectively (i.e. it's a pain if you want to dry your hair as it's in the middle of the room, and you sometimes can't get to your locker as there are too many people)
You feel more like a number than a person
The booking system and app keeps crashing
No shower gel in the dispensers
The price! Even with a discount when you buy 10 lessons - it's more than £13 a lesson
One hot tip - keep an eye out for groupon vouchers, but only if you're a first timer, you can get some great deals. Other first time user discounts are also available on the website. read more
