Really wish the owner would take some pride in ownership. The place needs a lot of work- the restrooms always dirty with broken doors. Hot Rods & Beer Well...........this has to be the only bar in the Imperial Valley that has plenty of room for just about anything. Bands, car shows, dancing, pool table, darts, etc. Can anybody beat $3 beers. Most beers in the I.V. are at least $3.50 or $4. This is a brand new place and so far it looks like its doing pretty damn good. There are more than enough people showing up every weekend. I've seen people from San Diego/Oceanside show up here cause of their Hot Rod theme. They have a large outdoor palapa bar in the back near the parking lot with a huge flat screen. Inside they have several large flat screens, a stage for a band, a pool table and a juke box. I've been to just about every bar in the Valley and this is by far the cheapest beer you can get and the enviorment is awesome. They are a hot rod bar so of course you can expect to hear a lot of rock n' roll / blues. They have the beer, the liquor and from what I heard they're trying to get their lic. to sell food. Possible restaurant/bar coming soon. This place is fun with cheap beer and good music including the live bands. I'll definitely be going back. read more

ok first of all this review is in february 2022 in the early part of the endemic. we decided 3 couples to give it a shot for steak night. please mr turner listen to us because we used to love this place with the 10 dollar ribeyes or rack of ribs. yes the pandemic screwed everything and business went down. the original owner turner did some business deal and traded hands for what ever reason turner is back. used to brage about this place regulars came from all around the valley, yuma and sd. I suggest you sell the place and buy the wear house accross the street. it is bigger, and high ceilings. room for live bands, dance floor, serious steak house, and adult games like in a "dave and busters." You could also allow georges pizza a section in there to sell pizza, salads and subs sitdown and takeout. one area is loud with bitchen dj with subwoofers and dancing and other areas for cornhole, families and kids. ok, now with the steaks review. same decor is ok but hard sitting on stools, fading and wobbly tables. we ordered medium-well and well done. the steaks were good sized and thick for a $10 steak...not! $30. ok still a good deal for a good steak. with a side of box mashed potatoes and Bush chili beans, no roll, good salad with iceberg lettuce (white with browning around the edges). the steaks were raw beyond eating. the welldone steakes looked great with crusty burnrt on the outside and red in the inside. please buy a $2 poke thermometer to read the cooking level of the steaks. hire a real cook that knows a fire is too hot and burns the outside but doesn't cook the inside of the steak. the waitress couldn't figure out how to charge 3 separately bills so one guy had to paid for all 3 bills. get good staff with experience, offer benefits. put a camera above the cash register and control the cash flow. the pool tables is inviting guys and gals to drink and hit each other with pool sticks. come on turner, please, you can get investors here that would fund your dream. yes on wednesday guests can grill their own steaks, but is the fire too hot in some places? going to give you a month then go back and order a $30 steak and I expect it to be cooked right with a good sized baked potato with sour cream, butter and chives. otherwise come on now! will be hard restarting your business in the endemic. oh, and there is pleanty of local garage rock bands in the valley looking for a place like yours to play inbetween getting good entertainment, $$$ is coming your way in this endemic if you ask for advice and take it. good luck read more

Hot Rods & Beer is such an awesome bar! It is so unique and we love the atmosphere! Everything from the hot rod truck bar, to the dragster on the wall. This place is great! The beers are always cold and the food tastes great! The roadway floor makes the place feel like you are in the middle of a drag strip! When they have their tribute bands, the place is crazy! This place has a great special featuring a grilled ribeye steak for only $10. This particular cut was probably 14-16 oz. and had a very nice cap that was probably 30-40% of the net weight, so I was very happy. But even with a more typical ribeye cut, this $10 deal would be well worth it. I ordered the steak cooked medium and it came out rare. However, I am not extremely picky with how well a ribeye is cooked (if this was a strip, there would be an issue). Unfortunately, they marinade these steaks in a sweet sauce that tastes like worcestershire. Equally unnecessary is the A-1 sauce they set you up with before the steak arrives. (I moved it far away before anyone saw.) Although the green beans were obviously canned, this does not devalue this wonderful deal, but it's worth mentioning. I am a major steak lover so this review might sound unduly picky. But for what it's worth, I am happy with this deal, which goes down every Wednesday and Friday. In fact, I am so happy that I plan on coming back tomorrow. read more

Drinks are great, service is good, but HR&B steak special has gone downhill considerably. Sides are still nothing special, but ribeye used to be really good. I used to plan a work week so I could be in Imperial county mid-week to go here. You could go here years ago and not get a spot at dinner. This week, just a few tables were taken. Was there on 6/14. Two allegedly med-rare steaks appeared 5 minutes after ordering. Knew that was a sign of what was to come. I could never cook anything that fast. Definitely these steaks had been cooked ahead of time. Steak was not pink at all. No juice. Slathered it in A1 to make passable. Next time I think I'll stay in El Centro for dinner. read more

We came here on a Thursday, and they have a rib special for the night. They were absolutely delicious. Quite a large helping for only $8 and they literally fell off the bone. The service was great. BUYERS BEWARE!!! The first time went to this place I was really impressed with the vibe and what seemed to be a great deal on Steak. You can't beat a $10 Ribeye, the sides are a little mediocre, but a meals a meal, and it's not bad, it's just not fresh or homemade, they use canned beans and powder mashed, it's pretty good taste all in all; but I guess you get what you pay for. I would say it's a step above institutional cooking because of the Steak. The issue that night was the waiters refused to service the tables; They didn't know what the prices were on the drinks, and took forever to get a price; they would just disappear, I would keep seeing pass by and they completely ignored us all night, and seemed more interested in talking to friends than serving us our drinks; I finally got tired of waiting and just got our own drinks. When I asked why they were so clueless, their response was that it was their first day. I was about to cut him a break until my friend said he was lying and that she seen him there a few times before. WHAT A JOKE!!! I don't see how they can ethically take a tip with that type of behavior; it seems more like charity than working for a living. This was just one of many nightmares to come from my experiences as a customer. After a while it becomes the same old dog and pony show, I see customers bussing their own tables, and it taking 30 minutes or more just to get a waitress to serve you, and rarely do they bother to come back an check out how you're doing. Go figure how they get tips yet don't even bother to service you right. The only one I seen that actually gave half a hoot is the bar manager who is going crazy running circles all over the place. I guess if you're the only show in town and have no real competition in the valley you can almost get away with anything. Why even bother to put a good quality product 100% of the time if you feel like you're giving it away, and the who cares attitude really shines through if you keep an eye out for the signs of what's really going on behind the scenes; the cracks become pretty apparent. read more

Hell yes. Great place! Will be back many times. I would be a regular if i could. The steaks are awesome and they make them right there on a grill as you walk in. The bartender moves with a sense of purpose and makes a kick ass drink. Haven't had too much of the food just the wings and steak, but that's good enough, don't worry about the rest. As a bonus I've heard some incredibly good live music in there, mostly cover bands I guess. The decor inside is kind of garage-like with walls of corrugated aluminum siding. Rockabilly/hot rod posters on the walls and a decent sized stage for the cover bands. There is a bar inside that fits about 15 people. Outside there is a smaller horse shoe tikki bar with heat lamps and a large screen. Easily the best bar & grill in the Imperial Valley. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night for $10 steak night. It was awesome~~~~ The steak comes with a salad, mashed potatos, broccoli and butter toasted bread. This place has a really cool vibe. There's both indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor seating area is adorned with neon lights, with water mist dispensers, and a tropical feel. The service was tres excellente. They were attentive to our needs and the owner came over and said hello to us. There is a tiny stage for karaoke and they have karaoke competitions from time to time. Came here on a Saturday night and where I'm from, bars are crowded on this night of the week. Not the case at this place. Went inside to get a drink and hang out. EMPTY. Large place with a handful of people inside. Why? Well... the band that was playing was ok, but my gosh was the sound loud. Waaaay too loud. You had to shout to have any semblance of a conversation in there. Even sitting next to someone words got lost. Drinks and bartenders were a-ok. Nothing special. Outside the vibe was a little better, but still meh. Could have used some heat lamps cause it was chilly... If there were any, there weren't enough. I stopped by this place and gotta say I was really disappointed. I went on a Friday afternoon (early evening) and ordered a BLT after which the bartender told me they had no bread. Are you f*cking kidding me? Friday afternoon early dinner and you got no bread? That means half the menu items are off the menu as a result leaving me a choice of hot wings, steak, nachos or an iceberg lettuce salad. To top it off, my buddy ordered a steak and what does he get with it? A dinner roll. No bread, huh? Your lazy ass couldn't even give me the option of having some kind of BLT sliders or something? Another friend ordered the wings and they were basically grilled wings brushed with BBq sauce. I ended up walking next door to the 7-11 and getting a sandwich there. The venue itself is decent enough and the waitresses were nice but don't expect much out of this place, food wise, if you're ordering something besides steak. Bartenders were geriatric slugs. I wouldn't hire them for a backyard barbecue. One was so deaf, he thought a gin and tonic was a stoli's vodka. Crowd was huge. However, recently while at the bar I overheard the bar owner complaining about a fundraiser that was going to take place in Imperial to support Wounded Warriors. He was upset because the fundraiser was going to take his business away for the night. I was very disappointed to hear that a business owner would not be in favor of such a good cause. I will never go back here. I have also noticed in recent moths that the bar is dirty, food quality is poor, and staff is rude. read more

Want to this place to hang with couple of my friends. Having a good time until I went to the bathroom. Upon my return my iPhone went missing from our table. I asked my friends and waitress if they may have picked it up. Well long story short the phone was taken by either a employee or the bouncer. When ask to review the video footage of the camera that was pointing at my table I was told there was not clear view. Really or you don't want to be held responsible for your stealing employees!!! Everything I touched was sticky from spilt beer. This was at noon mind you and we were the only people in the whole place. I ordered the pulled pork......no pickles or coleslaw? If tasted to be a day old. We were in a party of 4 and everyone was in agreement we not not be returning for food. I tried to order 2 different draft beers and was told both times the kegs were empty. One of the best bars in the valley. Live bands from Vegas and San Diego. 5 cent budweiser during the Monday night games all season long. The owners are very friendly. I don't know how they stay in business with prices this good. I'm only giving 4 stars because there is no guiness on draft and it would be nice if they offered more than pretzels to snack on. 4 starts for their steak night. $10 ribeye steak (really good steak) cook leans more toward the rare side so ask for your steak to cook a little longer. I like mine medium but i had to send it back the 1st time i went. 2nd time ordered med-well and it was perfect, enough pink, soft, no bleeding. Flavorful meat :) The sides have improved from my 1st visit. green salad, roll, and mash potatoes, however, you can taste that the potatoes are from the box, but for $10 you can't ask for more. I would go for their steak night anytime :) Nice atmosphere, and the chavela's were good. read more
