Pulled pork fried green tomato eggs Benedict
    Kristin A.

Decided to head over to Hot Suppa for brunch after reading online reviews hyping it up. It was a bit of a walk from our hotel on the waterfront, and the scenery changed the closer we got to it - felt a little sketchy / not the prettiest neighborhood. They don't take reservations, nor do they have a wait system. The hostess took my name and said there was about 20-minute wait, however she wouldn't be able to call or text when a table became available - I should just come back in about 15-20 minutes, so that's what we did. After we were seated around 1 pm, the place did clear out a lot. It's not very big inside so it wouldn't be good for large groups. They have very tall ceilings so the acoustics were on the louder side. I decided on the scrambalaya for my main with hash browns. The scramble was tasty and their hash browns are incredible. My husband got a special eggs benefit with pulled pork & fried green tomatoes. He enjoyed it but it was a huge portion - he could not finish it. Many of the plates coming out were large portions. It was a good meal. I don't know that we needed to go out of our way for it but it was enjoyable.

Chicken and waffles -added 2nd waffle for $5. Waffle House-esque waffles.

Yummy brunch location in Portland with southern influnces- New Orleans drinks, Scramblelaya, shrimp and grits, Nashville hot chicken, fried green blt and more. Generous portions. They have legit grits here (I'm from South Carolina). Large specials board on the wall. Smaller space and parking can be tough - drive around until you find some and pay attention to the signs.

Holy Mary mother of awesomeness. Literally best breakfast I've had in years. Carrot cake French toast. Scrambalaya sausage scramble. Phenomenal. I travel so much and this is the best I've had in Maine.

Great breakfast spot! We were able to get seated right away at the bar which I love because the bars are always so intimate and cozy. We had their most talked about fried green tomatoes with remoulade sauce and it was so good! I can see why everyone likes this. It was crispy, light, and not at all greasy or heavy. It paired so well with that sauce. We also had the Local Mushroom scramble and wow! It was creamy and velvety with a rich mushroom flavor. Every bite was smooth and perfectly balanced. The "Hollis" is a dish that you just can't go wrong with. I wanted something simple, and this was the perfect example of simple and delicious! The eggs were fluffy and perfectly scrambled. The hash browns on both dishes were great, but I personally would want it crispier. I also got fruits on the side and this just amazed me. The blueberries and blackberries were so fresh and naturally sweet that I had to ask where they got this from. I mean it is just fruits, but fruits that were grown just right and the level of sweetness was just perfect! So good I ordered another fruit on the side to go. We had a wonderful server and she was a delight! All staff there were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely come back!

Went in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch, the wait was about 45 minutes, but that wasn't terrible, I just ran an errand and then went back. When we got back, we were seated immediately at the bar. The bartender and the servers that were around us were super nice. I had several conversations going with them and they were friendly and funny. I really enjoyed that. My drink was perfect. My food was delicious. It is small in there, but it feels homey. It's a great atmosphere because everybody is in a good mood and everybody seems to get along really well. I would highly recommend this for brunch. Just keep in mind that there's always a wait because of the excellent food and service.

This spot was just around the corner from where we were staying, so we decided to pop in for breakfast. The windows were pretty tinted, so it was hard to get a feel for the place from the outside, but we're so glad we took a chance. It's a small, cozy spot with limited seating, so get there early if you can. But even if there's a wait, it's absolutely worth it. The food was beautifully plated and tasted just as good as it looked. We loved it so much, we ended up coming back again before the end of our trip. That's how good it was.

No notes - thoroughly enjoyed brunch at Hot Suppa. Wait staff was friendly and turned tables quickly. Decor was on point, cozy vibes with interesting art. Food was delicious and the specials were unique. I had the Thanksgiving Eggs Benedict special and was a huge fan. The cranberry drizzle fast-forwarded me to Thanksgiving Day for sure. Really enjoyed this Portland gem!

This is a Southern inspired restaurant that is a must try when in Portland. It's great for breakfast and lunch and you may want to get there on the early side as there can be a wait for a table as the place isn't too big. They have a cute bar/counter area where you can dine in too. I had for breakfast an i ed latte that was nothing special and to eat I had eggs Benedict with avocado and tomatoes on it. The tomatoes looked a bit not too good so I removed it but the eggs and avocado were better. It comes with a large piece of hash brown too. I would come back again and try out another dish.

Entirely worth the wait! Food was innovative and delicious. The grits were buttery goodness. Waffle reminded me of Waffle House in a good way. I would love to go back and try additional options.

    Even the bathroom is cool!

Eclectic in the best possible way! The imagination that went into this menu - both food and drink - is just on another level. Again, the team was just super sweet and accommodating to two people just walking in off the street with no reservations and a packed restaurant. Cheers!

Hot Suppa is an unassuming restaurant somewhat like its name. But do not think the Suppa does not deliver. Yes southern food in New England. I had the fried green BLT and it was delicious. The server staff are super nice and happily accommodated me minutes before they were scheduled to close - perhaps it was their southern charm. The restaurant had a cozy NYC feeling inside like something you would run across in the West Village.

This place is always packed on a weekend but we were able to grab a table during the week for brunch! Not very many tables inside but it's cozy. I was not feeling breakfast-y so I ordered the fried green tomato BLT which was really solid! The pimento and aioli were really good. Our service was quick. They do add ~4% back of house charge just FYI. I believe if you ask they will remove it.

Wow! Talk about amazing food and service! This place is an absolute GEM!!! How cute it is in here! I had to stop eating to post this review. Definitely stop by if you have never been here! I absolutely loved their Shrimp and Grits! The best I've ever had! It's an intimate environment and very cute. This menu is bursting with flavorful dishes and great drinks. Everyone was so friendly and welcomed us so nicely! If you haven't been here, please do yourself a favor and stop on in and see Lindsey at the bar! She is a sweetheart and makes a banging Espresso Martini!!! All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly!

The fries which came on the side of the burgers and sandwiches were also excellent. The restaurant has a nice outdoor space but the weather was a little rainy the day we went so we didn't sit outside. I do suggest they add more barriers and greenery/plants to separate the beautiful outdoor seating space from the parking lot across the way.

Finally we had the chocolate lava cake which was just okay, but that's fine because we were so full from the rest of our meal! What I can say is that the soup was my favorite and the turkey breast was not in the slightest dry. The short ribs were my friends favorite and we both loved the pumpkin budin. Service was polite and efficient and te music was upbeat and lively, despite the restaurant emiting a dark romantic vibe. The waitstaff was professional and helpful with menu choices. For a summer night, we found the menu to read more like middle of winter, with heavy food choices including steak, shepherds pie, meatloaf wrapped in bacon, and short rib. While the food is very good, I expected a menu with lighter summer options, maybe incorporating more veggies. Nonetheless, I ordered the short rib which was served over mashed potatoes and spinach. The piece of short rib itself was huge and very tender and flavorful. I was disappointed that they have decided to not serve bread with the meal anymore. It's bread. And for the price we pay for a meal, a few complimentary pieces would have gone a long way. Now, you need to pay for bread if you want it. I also wanted a small side salad with my meal, and not the entrée sized salads available on the menu. Our server was able to give me a bowl of Just greens dressed with their phenomenal vinaigrette dressing. It hit the spot. My husband had the flat iron steak, which he felt was good, but not great. The piece of steak itself was on the smaller side, and he was not a fan of the potato hash or parsnips. Again, heavy winter meal. He did order a side of the mushroom risotto, which was probably one of the best bites of the meal. It was out of this world! This was a good meal, but overall not a great meal. I hope they can pull it together. Maybe the lack of a full house at 6 pm on a Sat summer night should be a call to re-look at what could be improved.
