I tried HOT Tamales last Sunday, on a rainy Cinco de Mayo. Parking Parking is a breeze. The food truck is on a lot all to itself. The truck The truck has a nice setup. There's a nice covered ordering area and digital menus listing all their prices. Fancy and impressive for a food truck. It also looked very clean inside. My order I ordered 6 spicy pork tamales, 6 bean tamales, chips and queso and salsa. 6 tamales is the minimum number of each you can order. I had to order a large salsa. Sadly they don't give you small complimentary salsas like most restaurants do and they only have one size that you can purchase. I think 5 ounces, same size as the queso. There was a 15 min wait for the bean tamales. No problem. I waited. The salsa was watery and had no flavor. Seemed like mostly tomatoes and maybe 1 pepper, maybe a small onion and with zero seasoning. The queso was watery and very salty. The spicy pork tamales not only had no spice but just no flavor at all. It made me wonder how their regular pork tamales taste. Both spicy pork and bean tamales were flavorless. It seemed like I was eating unseasoned masa with no tamale filling. HEB's Mi Tienda tamales taste better. I also ate a few of my leftover tamales for lunch the next day hoping the seasoning had set in and the tamales would have some flavor. Unfortunately there was no improvement. Packaging I will say. I loved how neatly they wrapped the tamales. The service The service was pretty good and I was treated kindly and respectfully by the gentleman who seemed to be both cooking and taking orders. I really wanted to like Hot Tamales but I doubt that I'll return.

Sadly...this aint it. I tried this place on Christmas eve because I was on this side of town. We ordered a dozen chicken spicy and a dozen regular beef. I'm going to say nah.. I mean if you charging extra for green and red sauce the tamales need to be on point. There was no spice, you hear me? None, no kick at all, not even a little. Then I ordered queso and chips as well. Guess what? The queso was frozen but the tamales were hot. I am so confused, like why? Overall, I would not give this place another chance only because it's so many other places to get tamales. Iif you would like to stop by give it a try and see for yourself. I may have just gotten a bad batch.. I will say they get 2 stars for being quick with the order.

Hot Tamales truck has been a Friendswood staple for as long as I can remember. The part that keeps them doing well after all these years is consistency. Every time I've come here over the years, you're guaranteed to get a high quality tamale for a good price. I recently picked up 5 dozen spicy pork tamales here, 2 containers of queso, and 2 containers of guacamole for a Christmas party. They were a big hit! I loved how convenient their tamale truck is, open everyday from 11am - 7pm. They have a couple different flavors to choose from, and they're available hot/ready to eat, or frozen. The guys that work this truck are always so friendly, and they really do keep the truck really clean which is a nice plus. If you haven't been here, give them a shot because they're definitely doing something right. Enjoy!

A year ago I would've sad, and I may have said five thumbs up, but today I went to the tamale guy, bought a dozen tamales, came home with a lot of Mossa, and a lot of meat that I could not recognize and taste or sight. I did notice that they have expanded their menu, which might explain why they have cut back on their quality. Unfortunately with their new additions, they also have some subtraction and quality as one of them in my opinion. Thanks for the years of incredible food guys. I'm sure you'll prosper more now though. Have a beautiful and blessed year

1st time here! Line was forming but moved fairly quick

First time here at this food truck! My coworker recommended this place awhile back and had to try it since hubby wanted some tamales for New Year. Tried the freshly steamed chicken and pork-$12/dozen. Owner was very friendly and efficient. He gave us free queso to try and it was pretty good! The red and green salsa were also delicious. Tamales had good meat and masa proportion. Inside of the food truck was clean and I also appreciate my food neatly packed in the bag. Will definitely be back again!!

The tamales are great. We buy several dozen when we're in Houston. Buy them frozen and put in cooler for drive back to Alabama.

I had the basic Enchiladas Cheese, which were fantastic. The rice and beans were perfectly cooked and flavorful, which many comparable restaurants seem to struggle with. Chips and salsa were pretty standard, but still good. The place feels authentically Mexican, which is a nice change-up from all of the Tex-Mex places that are so common. The music and decor is all on point! Service was above and beyond as well. Even for a Sunday at lunch time, the waiters were constantly checking on us to make sure our drinks were topped off and to make sure we didn't need anything. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in that part of town to try another of their enchiladas!

The chips and salsa were good, and we also ordered queso, which was good. The Enchiladas Trio was my entree of choice, which had cheese, chicken, and beef enchiladas. The food could have been hotter temperature-wise but was yummy. Out of the three kinds of enchiladas, the chicken was the best. My mom enjoyed her dish which was another enchilada dish and my sister ordered a yummy chicken veggie soup. We would definitely visit again!

Loved this Mexican brunch spot in Webster. Our area isn't known to have a ton of breakfast options…read moreso it was nice to try something new. I ordered the birria chilaquilla which was served with scrambled eggs and avocado and got the fruity pebbles pancakes for the kiddo. The chilaquilla had great flavor with both red/green sauces, savory birria beef ( not overly fatty), and the tortillas were crispy and not soggy at all. Plus one for the fancy plating- these dishes are picture worthy to say the least. Really cool spot and it was packed on a Saturday morning for good reason.

But just having to get your own utensils and go place an order at a sit down place!!?? Not a tip place!! Honestly it's just the aesthetics!!! The so called aguas frescas taste like JUMEX, the concentrated one!! Not happy about that at all!!! The chilaquiles plate is just too much chips swimming in salsa but the top of chips aren't even getting much of it! It's just a mess!! Green and red chilaquiles, the green sauce was good, savory and not salty but too overwhelming with so much chips!! The avocado was cut nicely but they didn't even bother to cut the brown/black part! The entire food was just blahhhh, overpriced!!! $57 for chilaquiles, 3 waters, waffle and 1 egg!!! Overpriced and not worth it!! Seems like your alone at restaurant, staff at the back and just come out to bring plates and tell you to order at register. Ambiance chill and nice and music but not worth it! Pretty restaurant but not worth the price of food lacked flavor!!! And the employee pic is because the face of your restaurant is how they treat customers and it wasn't polite at all and not welcoming!!

This location in Pearland is near a shopping center and has plenty of parking all around. The inside is well decorated and has high ceilings and well-made furniture, plus there is quite a bit of seating so even when it is busy there is a good bit of room. We went shortly before 5pm on a weekend and only had to wait a few minutes to get a table. You can tell by how busy it stays that this is a popular place. I opted for the Plato Soldado (soldier plate) since they were running a Memorial Day/July 4th deal where a small donation was made for every order. It included a steak fajita taco, cheese enchilada, and pork tamale. All were excellent and there was plenty of steak inside. The sides were also great. My wife got the El Dorado (chicken smothered with sauce and other toppings) and really enjoyed hers. We also got some cheese dip and enjoyed plenty of chips, plus they give you some other sauces besides just salsa. All of their prices are quite reasonable and service was very quick, so I get why this place is so popular. Definitely check them out if you are in the Houston area, as they have many locations.
