Our room's not large but clean and comfortable, and the best thing about it is it's on the corner with two balcony windows. The main street facing balcony is big with seating (seems like all the first floor rooms - 2nd by US custom - have the large balconies), for some reason ours only has 2 regular plastic chairs whereas others have reclining ones. Wifi is not the best - can only connect in the lobby. Breakfast is nice with a couple of hot dishes - scrambled eggs, bacon - and selection of pastries. All in all a good place to stay especially if you want to be close to the bus station where there are daily direct buses to Venice airport.

Rooms here are dorm type with bunk beds and shared bathrooms, we had a room that slept 14 (there maybe some smaller rooms but I didn't see any). Rooms are very clean and the bunk beds are quite comfortable with good bedding. There is a restaurant and the food is quite good. Only thing to worry about is depending on the weather you might not get to see a view. When we arrived in late afternoon it was raining so the entire mountain top was shrouded in mist, nothing was visible. Luckily the sun came out the next morning and the panoramic view was spectacular.

Breakfast in the morning was light, but filling. Offered selections of bread, ham, Turkey, swiss cheese, scrambled eggs, and pretty much any jelly you could imagine. Had some confusion related to our booking through hotel.com that almost resulted in a duplicate charge. Then, when wanting to sit by a window during breakfast, the waitress made a little fuss about us sitting there. Apparently, despite the silverware placement, we weren't supposed to sit there. 5 stars because it all ended well, and we had a wonderful time overall.

The hotel is located just outside the central part of Cortina, however a five minute walk put you at Corso Italia (the pedestrian shopping/dining area). Additionally, one of the ski bus routes stopped right outside the hotel (if you were planning to ski 5 Torri or Passo Falzarego). A short walk over the river brought you to the bus stop for visiting the Faloria and Tofana areas. Check-in was pretty seamless, as room keys were distributed without a problem in short order. Some of the staff helped with bringing luggage up the stairs as the elevator only had room for 4 people (without luggage), 2 people with luggage. From the very beginning, they went out of their way to make us comfortable. On the night of our arrival, Stefano the owner of the hotel briefed our group on the ski areas in close proximity. Additionally, he mentioned a few of the on-mountain restaurants which were not to be missed. His recommendations were excellent! My friend and I ended up sharing two rooms with a shared bathroom, so it meant that we had more space than normal. Each bedroom had a generous sized armoir to hang clothes and a shelf for folded items. The beds were firm, which was a welcomed relief after a long day of hitting the slopes. The housekeeping staff did a great job of keeping our rooms tidy. The main floor of the hotel had plenty of space for a larger group to hang out in the evenings. There is a small bar, well-stocked of course, for a pre-dinner drink. The dining room was spacious and had plenty of space for our group. Additionally, even with a large group it felt like things never got too loud, which I appreciate. Breakfast was a buffet, with assorted bread, pastries, and fruit. Additionally, some proteins were well-represented (eggs, meats, and cheeses). The croissants were fantastic. On the morning of our departure, the staff was kind enough to start breakfast 30 minutes earlier. Dinners were sit down, not buffets. Each evening, you selected your courses for the following evening. Each dinner consisted of a starter, first course, second course, an dessert. Portion sizes were perfect and the menu was varied. If there were any dietary restrictions, they were happy to accomodate. Each evening, when your arrived for dinner, candles were lit at each table. Additionally, bottles of red/white wine, sparkling and still water were sitting out ready to be drank. A wonderful hotel with lots of character.

It's a really nice setup- the last time I was at a hotel with a ski and boot storage was in Japan and it was slim lockers near the smoking room smelling like a gym locker. Over at Apparthotel Germania the room is nicely accessible down an exterior door with three stairs rubber matted- then through a secured door you can get to the boot storage- it looks like it's setup plugged in to cycle drying and venting to reduce odour. There was no gym locker smells here. The laundry was coin operated for $6 euros to wash and $6 euros to dry. You can actually manage with the wash only the spin cycle is pretty good. I would say it's one of the most expensive washing facilities I've been too because the wash dry combo cost, more expensive than doing laundry in Hong Kong which was like $10 euros. There are some sauna amenities here but didn't use it. The last minute room I booked was an apartment- it had the dishes and pans for cooking-no sponge for washing so a bit of a struggle to clean dishes. The stove is gas- I didn't have a lighter so the desk was nice to offer that. The beds were individual mat pulled together side by side. It's a very quiet place to sleep. The hotel is just a wonder of surprises with its rustic look and the tech from relatively new elevator to keyless entry. It's quite consistent to the tech on the local mountain restaurants. Breakfast cost about $15 euros per person which had to be paid extra and reserve night before- because we were in apartment style. Lots of selection of bread and jams, limited hot food just steamed egg and scrambled egg and everything else was cold. Some cold meats and cheese. Hot coffee is serviced with a foamed milk. Some juices offered but nothing special. Some drink dispensers were turned off- maybe because of capacity and cleaning headaches. Looks like there were two rounds of breakfast sit downs. The owner was so nice to ask me the following day if I was joining for breakfast just so they have enough time to make sure they get enough food for everyone- I declined. It was just a first night thing and opted for some local coffee using the Moka pot in the apartment and local bread from the bakery. But no oil is in the room. Food in this town is pretty expensive but accommodation is quite reasonable. So just jump the local train to get some affordable groceries. This establishment has rooms with apartments and rooms only with half board (breakfast only) and full board (two meals served). If you reserve earlier you can get the room only which is cheaper. But if you're looking for the cook yourself options that's here too. Overall great place to stay.

But the food was excellent both dinner and breakfast. The dormitory rooms were far from luxurious but they did the job. Coin-op showers are €4 for 3-5 min. (It says 3 but people reported longer). I wouldn't complain, about a thing but I would say be prepared for a less luxurious hut experience. I'd love to have had the gorgeous views. My review does not reflect the poor weather.

The mountains around the town make it very lovely and we enjoyed our stay. The female owner makes this hotel special .. she's so friendly and charming .. and does everything with flare. Dinner entrees were served under silver domes and the unveiling was coordinated for effect. Over all the food on this tour was very disappointing but this was by far one of the better meals included. This Hotel dates back to 1826 as the oldest in town. The decor and woodworking is gorgeous though you do have to watch out for splinters .. so don't shuffle your feet. The doors have real keys with the heaviest key-fabs you've ever seen and some of the door ways are so dark you would find a flashlight helpful. I thought the town, hotel and our room were very cute. Loved having a balcony to go out on with a view. The beds were super firm .. all the beds in Europe have been FIRM which wasn't my comfort preference but must be a Europe thing. the free internet was slow and spotty but enough to check in with family. We had a do not disturb sign on the door but the staff entered anyway .. to clean the room .. close the shudders etc. Didn't like they came in though we put the do not disturb sign .. but noting was stolen or seemed out of place. There is no AC or Fans .. so we were a bit too warm ... thankfully it was spring not summer. As with many in Europe they did not provide hair conditioner which is standard in areas. Even though there were a few things wrong .. the owner was so funny and charming .. we loved her and our stay. When we were leaving she got in the road and stopped traffic for all our group to cross. The cafe over looks the main thoroughfare corso italia. You can sit and sip a beverage in the outside portion and people watch. The food is excellent is all three of the eateries.
