It is a rennovated building across from the train station, but also has a second new building down the street. The room was large and decorated with urban NYC photos. Large TV, complementary bottle of water, comfortable bed, and new bathroom were nice and above standard. The highlight though was the restaurant. The restaurant had three areas a larger main room, a second stammtisch and a weingarten. All rooms are decorated in a modern country style. As house guests, we were in the stammtisch room and shared a long table with some locals. Service is familiar, efficient and friendly. We had Wienerschnitzel and pasta with fruit de mar. Both were excellent. I was concerned about the fruit de mar but it was fresh and very nice. Wine selection was large as can be expected from a restaurant in a wein region. Dessert, creme brule and chocolate mousse were also excellent. The prices were appropriate for the high quality of the food and service.

Liebes Novotel am Konzerthaus,…read more ich komme seit über zehn Jahren immer wieder in dieses Haus und genau deshalb fällt es mir leider umso stärker auf: Der Instandhaltungs und Renovierungsrückstau ist inzwischen nicht mehr zu übersehen. Das scheint kein Einzelfall zu sein, sondern ein generelles Thema bei vielen Accor Hotels. Die Teppiche in den Zimmern haben über die Jahre so viele Flecken gesammelt, dass man ungern barfuß darüber läuft. Die Möbel wirken deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Ein echtes Dauerthema sind für mich die Kissen. Seit Jahren eine Katastrophe. Ich frage mich ehrlich, was an einem guten Federkissen so kompliziert sein soll. Für ein Hotel, das sich ausdrücklich auch an Businessreisende richtet, ist die Situation der Steckdosenverfügbarkeit in Bettnähe eine traurige Katastrophe. Gerade das Laden von Laptop, Telefon und anderen Geräten wird unnötig kompliziert. Besonders ärgerlich ist, dass ich diesen Punkt bereits vor Jahren angesprochen habe und es hier wirklich einfache und kostengünstige Lösungen gäbe. Der Fernseher wirkt mit seiner gefühlten Größe eines Camping-TVs eher wie ein Relikt aus einer anderen Zeit. 27 Zoll? Das ist schlicht nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Grundsätzlich ist es einfach Zeit für eine echte Zimmerrenovierung. Ein bisschen Farbe hier und da reicht nicht mehr aus. Das Haus hätte es verdient, endlich wieder in der Gegenwart anzukommen. Auch der Check-in ist leider Glückssache. Einige Mitarbeitende sind ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam, andere wiederum wirken distanziert und unverbindlich. Diese Unterschiede sind für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie deutlich spürbar. Besonders irritierend finde ich, dass trotz "Do Not Disturb"-Schild das Housekeeping die Zimmer betritt und aufräumt. Warum werden diese Schilder ignoriert? Das sollte eigentlich selbstverständlich respektiert werden. Es ist schade, denn die Lage des Hotels ist kaum zu übertreffen. Umso mehr wünscht man sich, dass endlich wieder investiert wird und dem Haus neues Leben eingehaucht wird. Das Potenzial ist definitiv da.

This is a nice, clean, modern hotel. Doesn't have much of the character of the smaller Freiburg…read morehotels, but it makes up for it in size and professionalism. Rooms are very large and the bathroom is far and away the biggest bathroom (with full tub) of any hotel I have stayed at in Freiburg. On a hot summer day this would probably rate 5 stars since it is one of the few Freiburg hotels with air conditioning.

Tucked away in the black forest this is the prefect hotel to come and get away from 'whatever it is…read moreyour trying to get away from' The first thing I should write before I go any futher is 'Your mobile phone will not work in the hotel!' You will have to walk more then 1km down the road or go hiking up one of the trails around the hotel to find reception- I say this now as nobody warned me when I went to spend C'mas and New Years here so I spend 3 of the 8 days I spent here unreachable by family and loved ones back home :-( and finally someone told me where I could find reception. This place is really beautiful all year around but Winter and summer are my favorites with ice and snow turning it into a winter wonderland around C'mas and during summer blueberries and blackberries grow everywhere and the neighbouring winneries are just getting ready for grape picking season. The hotel is about 40 rooms big and the rooms although not the biggest hotel rooms I've come across are comfy and well sized (plus you won't want to be spending much time in your room here anyways) the mini bar can be stocked to your requirement all you need to do is order. Brunch is served in the hotels Breakfast room which during summer opens up for outdoor seating so that you can enjoy all the unusal amount of sun this part of Germany gets- and the Brunch here is the best I've had in Germany HUGE sellection and REAL breakfast items as well....so alot more then just your usual cheese and cold meat stuff. Actually pretty much everything I've eaten in this hotel is fantastic... they have a really good chef and the meals here are usually 3-4 course (unless it's new years and C'mas and in those cases we had a menu that went on for hours and hours with the last dish desert being served at 11pm) The wine list is really extensive too as we're in the middle of Germany best wine region and the owners are friends with many of the wine making familes aroudn here and of course France is only half and hour drive from here so you pretty much have no reason to drink out of the regional wine list. The dayspa has a sunbed, massage rooms, beauty therapy (They use Thalgo here), waxing and lounges to relax and read on... a huge swimming pool which is heated all year around- a wirlpool and a three room sauna area with nordic sauna, wet sauna and a cooler tempture wet sauna for kids. For things to do around the area while staying at the hotel- there's a huge selection of forest trails for cycling or walking plus wineries to visit and day trips into France and Freiburg are very easy. The Owners (Holgar and Yara Weber) are great people, extremely friendly and helpful as are their staff.
