There was a balcony with seating for two with a view of mountains. We could hear folks having a good time from the nearby biergarten/restaurant, but it all died down around 22:00. For some reason, it was rather quiet on Saturday and Sunday nights. The church (St. Peter und Paul two blocks away) bell rang throughout the night, but it was more soothing than nuisance for me. Breakfast was excellent in typical Bavarian fashion like freshly baked rolls, meat and cheese plate (photo). You can help yourself to müsli, fresh fruit cups, yogurt, muffins (sweet) besides that. Breakfast lady asks you and will make you eggs and bacon if you want (photo). Staff were very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. I believe it was a family-owned and operated pension--very nice folks. There was a three-generation family photo from 2010 Passion Play. I understood they will participate again in 2022. The only thing lacking at this hotel was a restaurant, so we went into town for meals beyond breakfast. No problem. Because of its central location in Oberammergau, you can walk to most of the attractions/restaurants/shops in town. It's very convenient. Limited free parking is available which makes it very convenient.

I wish I had stayed here for the entire 10 days I was in Garmisch. The breakfast is outstanding and the service is equally as outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel. They even helped me book my ticket to Zugspitz! I have zero complaints. Excellent hotel in a perfect location.

The staff are extremely helpful and prompt and if you need any help they are always wiling to help. Like many hotels in Germany don't expect air conditioning as this is not common. In the summer months leave your windows open and hope for the best.

It has a small parking area which is a bit difficult to locate without instruction from the front desk staff. The hotel itself is a quaint property in what seems to be an assemblage of building parts from historic structures of the community. It has a comfortable lobby with plenty of seating and a coffee bar behind the check in area. There is a lot of wood paneling in the bedrooms which give it a warm vintage feeling. The lighting is quite awkward in that there are no shut offs for the lights near the bed, requiring a stumble in the dark to the switch. It would be a good place to use some remote battery operated lighting switches. There was plenty of closet space behind the wood paneling. Overall the bedrooms were quite dated, but that makes them different than the typical cold and contemporary feeling rooms found in most hotels. The bathroom had been remodeled and offered modern amenities. The tub was nice but for anyone who isn't young and athletic, it is a challenge to get out of it as the large glass panel gets in the way. Perhaps a place to add some grab bars could be found. Definitely not up to ADA standards, not sure what German disability act requirements there may be. The breakfast buffet was quite nice with meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurt, cereals, coffee tea etc. For the cost of the room, the breakfast seemed to make it a really good deal. I was quite happy with my stay at he Atlas Grand Hotel, I'm not sure I'd stay there again but once was fine for my two nights in Garmisch Partenkirchen.

When we arrived, we were told that breakfast was not included even though it was on the booking. The downstairs and entry of the Grand Atlas Hotel are indeed...grand and beautiful. There are salvaged bits of old architecture and old paintings on the wall to give this a medieval castle feel. Parking was also a bit tricky and we had to leave our car key with the clerk in case they had to rearrange the parking. We were excited though to be at the hotel because of the beautiful downstairs. Upon going upstairs, we realized this was a 3-star hotel masquerading as a 4-star hotel. The hallway upstairs and the room was really disappointing when compared to the opulent check-in area. The wifi was really slow. The next day we went to the bakery across the street for pastry and a cup of coffee. Then we walked up the street to another bakery to repeat the coffee and pastry-- this was fun. When we got back to the hotel and checked out, the clerk asked us why we hadn't had the hotel breakfast since we had indeed paid for it! Oh well.

The rooms were well-maintained and everything from the bed to the bathroom was pristine. One aspect that really impressed me was the front desk staff. They arranged castle tour tickets for us. Just ask at check in and they will have them for you the next morning. As for transportation, getting to the castle was easy. Either walk, take the bus, or a horse and carriage ride. Just a heads-up, the horse and carriage only accepts cash. Unfortunately, the hotel's ATM was out of order during our stay, but there was one located close to the ticket booth. Also, I recommend making the short drive to Füssen. It's a charming spot with little shops, good food, and great views of the mountains. Pro tip: take a pretzel from breakfast and enjoy it with a view of the castle

You won't find a more convenient location than this. Close to the Germany-Austria border. Actually, you can get to 2 different countries from here in less than a 2-hour drive: Lichtenstein and Austria (Innsbruck). The room is pretty basic and outdated but what you're paying for is the convenience and the location. The same thing can be said about the bathroom. It is tiled but at least it's spacious and has everything you need. You're paying about $150/ night. You can take a day trip many different places from here. You can get to Oberammergau in an hour by car. You can rent a boat at Alpsee. Aside from the great location, they have a restaurant that has good food and lots of delicious cakes and desserts. The restaurant has a nice view of Hohenschwangau Castle. There's not a lot of restaurants in the area.
