The first time I was in a four-person room, and it seemed a bit cramped, but the second time I was in a two-person room, and the room looked quite spacious with the bunk beds, little table with two chairs, sink, and plenty of storage space. It's a 20-minute walk or a CHF 15 taxi ride from the train station. Fairly quiet surroundings, as it's right next to the ski slope, but the walls are a bit thin, so you can hear rowdy people on the floor. Simple yet ample buffet breakfast of multiple kinds of bread, cereal, hot and cold drinks, meats, cheese, and yogurt. Dinner was Riz Casimir, salad, creamy pea soup, bread, water, and some kind of berry pudding for dessert. There's a bar in the hostel and plenty of comfy sofas for lounging around and watching tv. I paid CHF 215 for 2 nights in a 2-bed room + breakfast & dinner including a ski ticket for 2 days. I would say it's a pretty good deal, as this place is quite close to the ski run #15, too.

We ended up paying CHF 145 per person, per night for accommodations, breakfast and dinner and ski lift passes. That's an amazing deal, especially in an expensive country like Switzerland. The room that we got was spartan but perfectly clean and comfortable. There was a shared bathroom that again was very clean. The included meals were fine and as someone who's accustomed to inedible hotel breakfasts in the US I was impressed that a low-cost hostel would have a decent meal in the morning. The only annoyance that I could think of was that it was a pretty significant uphill walk from the train station (we ended up paying for a taxi since we were lugging boots and skis) but on the whole this was a great find.

Reservation process was through email for us and we reserved about a month out. The meal starts in a beautiful swanky lounge upstairs where you get apertifs and amuse bouches. The amuse bouches were all amazing! After a few rounds of them, you're brought downstairs into a smaller room for the remaining duration of your meal. Food: most dishes were excellent! The bread was delicious as well. There's a cheese course where you get to select from 21 different types of cheese!! I believe they're all from Switzerland too. It's the Baskin Robbins of cheese. Service/presentation: You're given postcard-sized cards with artwork throughout the meal to accompany certain dishes, which was a unique and interesting touch. The servers spoke English and were of course friendly and well-trained. SS definitely deserves to be on the Top 50 list. Our only complaint, however, was that the experience was too long. We're used to a maximum 3 hour meal, but we were here for almost 5 hours. Either way if you're a foodie traveling to Switzerland, I highly recommend dining here. Ciao!

SERVICE: The restaurant staff are the most gracious, kind, helpful, interested, attentive group I have ever experienced. They clearly love what they do, from the servers to the chefs to the guest services coordinator Lisa. That passion is evident in every aspect of the meal and the experience. FOOD: Show up hungry, because every dish is meant to be a table-top tour of the Swiss countryside- and you'll see some pretty amazing stuff. If the castle Schloss is the progressive cuisine inspired by all things over the world using the local produce, Casa Caminada is the nod to his Grison upbringing. Have you heard the Romansh language? Neither have most Swiss people, and it's one of their national languages. But it exists here! It's a small B&B, a bakery, food larder, and traditional cooking (think Capuns!)...it's a cafe hangout or the town center... I wish I could live in Caminadaville!
