They are recently renovated, modern, clean, reasonably priced, GREAT location, rooftop terrace for breakfast (superb Turkish breakfast [buffet] included) has AMAZING views, and the real stars are the STAFF. From front desk, to servers, to chef -- everyone treated us like family. I have a 7-month daughter and she loved the staff and they loved her. We were so well taken care of - anything we needed our friend Mr Kenan at the front desk made it happen. I am forgetting the names of all the amazing staff, literally they were all amazing, the chef, servers, concierge, cleaning -- bottom line is my review of my recent stay should sway you on the quality of this hotel. One drawback is that taxis can't drive all the way to the hotel and you'll have to carry your luggage for roughly 2 blocks. The hotel also doesn't have an elevator.

So when I was…read moreplanning my return trip to Istanbul for 10 days at the end of October, I knew where I would stay. And I am so pleased to report that the Adamar Hotel is still as amazing. I made online reservations directly through the hotel, and found they have online offers, such as shuttle pickup from airport with a certain length of stay, and discount for cash. Making a reservation was easy, and they responded quickly to any questions. There are now 3 wonderful men at the front Reception desk: Halil (whom I met from my first stay), Ilhan, and Gokhan. All three men were incredibly helpful, respectful, and friendly. They were endlessly patient with my questions, need for directions, and forgetting/mispronouncing their names! They handled payment quickly and efficiently, and provided good ideas for sightseeing and dining. In addition, Evrim, Burak and Emre also work in the reception area and were kind, friendly, and always eager to help with anything needed. The rooms had been updated, and I found them to still be spotlessly clean. The housekeepers Sengul and Turkan did a fabulous job of keeping my room clean, and always gave me welcoming smiles. The rooms are a bit small, but no smaller than any of the European rooms I have stayed in. My room (204) had large windows, and was very bright and cheery. Windows opened, and when closed really blocked the outside noise well. The bed was a bit hard, but comfortable. The best part was a power heating/AC unit that kept the room comfortable at all times. The upstairs breakfast area is truly the star here (well, in addition to the wonderful staff!!). The breakfast is still bountiful and delicious. Selda who works here is also friendly and will take your order for one of their fabulous omelets. All food is fresh and well prepared. The view is unequaled, and there is a beautiful serenity to starting your day gazing out onto the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. There is free Wi Fi throughout the hotel which was strong and worked well. There is also a computer in the lobby to use for printing needed documents. Overall, in my 10 day stay here I felt like I was staying with my family. I feel incredibly close to the staff, as if they were all my friends, brothers and sisters. I felt safe and protected, and there is just some kind of magic at this hotel. Each and every staff member here clearly takes pride in their work and doing a great job. I plan on returning again to Istanbul in a few years and look forward to staying here again. I miss them already!

Sultan always greeted us with a large smile, answered every question we had for him, and and very quickly and efficiently helped us organize the last few days we had in Istanbul. The reception are helpful and get things done, but the staff, though kind and efficient, seemed somewhat frustrated and rushed. The rooms are tiny and but spotless and adequately equipped. Their housekeeping is very professional and trustworthy.. watching a bed remade perfectly in minutes was oddly satisfying.

Of course there are cheaper ways to go but this was convenient and easy so well worth it. On site is also a small pool and massage establishment. We did not try them but looked inviting. Next time. All of these sites are quite famous and usually take a long time to get in. But during November it is their low season so it was less busy than I have seen it before. Hotel Amira was also my first time staying at this boutique hotel which cost was quite reasonable. The only negative thing is maybe the stairs if you have heavy luggage you will need some assistance depending on which floor you get. We got the 7th room number which doesn't have an elevator to connect to that level. But besides that it was fine. The staff here is quite friendly and nice. If you have any questions just ask them and they will be able to help you out. The rooftop is closed though since it is cold but you can still go on top of it and take some photos of the view. It is fantastic to see the ocean on one side and also the mosque on the other. For a boutique hotel, the location, area, and being able to walk around at all the most famous places in Istanbul is quite nice!

I want to name Gokhan, Aziz, and Mehmet and the lead housekeeper who were all extremely pleasant and helpful to us. Gokahn was responsive and helpful in setting up our reservations and transportation on arrival at Istanbul Airport which is the largest airport above ever seen. Communication was clear and we had no issues arriving (or leaving). We had picked up a bug just before leaving the USA, though we didn't know it at the time. Aziz and Mehmet were particularly helpful when I got very sick. They checked on our well being daily and offered the help of a doctor the hotel has on call, if we needed one. Given that our stay would be short, we wanted easy access to the major sites in the Sultanahmet district, or "Old Town." This location put us in walking distance (some uphill on cobblestone streets) of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more. Many restaurants and shops were also nearby and, with a longer walk, we were able to walk down to the Golden Horn and to the Galata Bridge. GUESTHOUSE (overall, 4/5). GUEST ROOM (4/5). We had a nice clean room (standard, double) on the 2nd floor with a double bed with attached private bathroom. The room had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed and pillows, desk, large wardrobe with safe, and bedside tables. It was tastefully decorated with Turkish cloth on a canopy bed. We would've rated higher had there been more space in the room. While there was a stand for one piece of luggage, we didn't use it because space was too tight. Our view was of a neighboring guest house, which allowed others to see into our room when the curtains weren't pulled. The bathroom was clean, well-maintained, and newish, and had a small shower, sink, and toilet but again relatively little space. COMMON AREAS, except terrace (see later). (3/5). Again, very tight. Upon entering, there is a small reception area, really only a desk and some file cabinets, where a staff member sits 24/7. There is a small room off this with some small couches, and reading materials (including tour and other books that can be borrowed and tourist brochures. Nice touch!). This also serves as a luggage storage area for guests who arrive early or late. Stairs up to many of the rooms and the terrace where breakfast is served are narrow and have low ceilings. My 6' husband bumped his head on his first trip up. BREAKFAST on the terrace. (5+/5). This was included in the price of our room, but was also available for 5 Euro for guests. Both the food and the view were amazing! There was a wide selection of traditional Turkish and other foods to choose from, including homemade jams, and a nice selection of juices. During breakfast, one could watch the sun rise over the Marmara Sea (which connects to the Bosphorus). Note that free self-serve coffee and tea were available all day, so we also visited the terrace to see the water view at other times of day. PRICE (Jan, 2023). (4/5). Our total bill was euros 156 (about $170) for our 3-night stay in a standard double room at this 2-star guesthouse through Hotels.com. The same room is available at a cheaper rate if you're okay with a non-refundable reservation. Note that Turkey was experiencing very high rates of inflation during our visit. TRANSPORTATION/PARKING (3/5). With reservations, the hotel can arrange for transportation to/from Istanbul airport at 40 Euros per vehicle each way. We used the service for our return trip as we had an early morning flight. The vehicle could have easily accommodated 8 passengers, so it was bigger (and more expensive) than we needed but we were happy that the option was available to us. Parking seems difficult on the side street where the guesthouse is located. STAFF. (4/5). Staff were helpful when asked specific questions but no one stands out as truly extraordinary. All front desk staff spoke a sufficient amount of English to answer our questions. There were visitors from many other countries during our stay. Staff handled our luggage on the narrow staircase. Staff also booked a morning cruise for us on the Bosphorus. SECURITY. 5/5). The neighborhood and the guesthouse felt safe. Access to the property was through a front door that was locked most of the time, and guests needed to pass a close-quarters desk that was manned 24/7.
