A fine hotel in the heart of Alsace!…read more I stayed at Le Colombier for 3 nights in the summer. The hotel is extremely charming with a courtyard and a winding staircase. The hotels rooms are all different. I initially was frustrated that I had to move rooms during my stay. However, I ended up moving from what I thought was the most pleasant room ever to an even more pleasant room! I started in a traditional room which was warm and inviting, with hardwood floors, comfortable beds and a great bathroom. Then next night, I moved to the top floor in a suite. This room had a sitting area, huge sleeping area, massive bathroom and a charming beamed ceiling. This room had a great view of the city. The hotel staff moved my belongings between rooms - I almost didn't notice that I had to pack twice. I ate breakfast each day in the hotel and it is not to be missed. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. Coffee, tea, eggs, toasts, cheese, meats. The hotel staff was very friendly - trying to help me find restaurants and spots to visit. They booked taxis as well. When my phone didn't work, the front desk person acted as intermediary between me and my mother. It was a nice touch. All in all, if I visit Colmar again, I will definitely stay at Le Colombier. The hotel is pricey, but worth it for the comfort and convenience. Oh - and the air conditioning works great!!!

The hotel is an old coach house, which was redone into a hotel with 51 rooms, The decor is a reminder of the age of the place but it is still very cozy and nice. The bed, sink and other things are made of solid old wood and it gives the place old world charm. The upkeep and maintenance leaves to be desired but the place is clean and nice the breakfast is amazing and should be partaken in. :) It also makes a good base for an Alsatian wine trail.

There is an underground garage which is locked by key card and has surveillance. We could have set our bikes in the bike racks but as our bikes are rather pricy, we just locked them in our car and assembled them before going on our rides. This worked out perfectly for us. There was direct access to the garage from the hotel. The room was small but had everything we needed. There was no cleaning service because of corona, but that suited us perfectly. When we needed anything we could get it from the nice people in the reception. It's not luxury and if you need a good hair dryer, you should probably bring one. The breakfast was very good and varied with good (I think, homebaked) bread, cornflakes, yoghurt, cheese, jam etc, coffee, juice. When we got back from our rides we REALLY enjoyed the nice terrace where we could get a nice cold beer and water sitting in the sun. Thank you so much to the nice staff in the hotel bar for making our stay so great :-D Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short one night. This was no problem, they didn't charge us for the extra night we had booked. That was really nice. Generally, the staff was very nice and accommodating! I give this hotel my highest recommendation for a stay in Colmar - especially if you need a place to stay for bike trips :-)
