No bells and whistles, but clean, comfortable, and a great breakfast included in the price. The staff spoke English well and were always very helpful. Just a short walk from the lake, shopping, and government building. A 25 minute easy walk to the warehouse district. My only recommendation would be to ask for a room high up or at the end of the hall because it was kind of loud. You can hear everything happening in the hallway.

The Breakfast was perfect and they even let me take a tray full of food from the breakfast buffet to my hungover girlfriend in our room. They were just soooo nice while helping me in this mission. Fr. Hahn, Hr. Niko and Hr. Abassi got me a tray and demanded that they make it look nice before I could take it upstairs... I had a killer hangover though so I didn't care but you should have seen the look on my girlfriends face when she saw the spread. Impressed. They made us coffee and helped get everything prepared before I could take it to the room. I was both annoyed at how damn nice they were and also really happy that there was a staff that was so helpful and caring. Senay helped us out of the hotel and she was alright too... thanks for the water... we needed it ;) In conclusion, if you actually like a nice staff, great food and comfortable beds then 100% come here.... for me... bah humbug hamburg. ;)

The hotel is very new and features wild bright colors and bold patterns. In the 1960s (way before my time) that style as called "groovy." As you walk in, you are greeted by a sea of white interspersed with bright colorful accent pieces like lamps and chairs. The pod seats in the lobby were especially popular. The dining area is directly adjacent to the lobby. You can purchase breakfast when booking your room and I would definitely recommend doing that. There are not many breakfast places nearby and the hotel's breakfast was quite good. Our room continued the wild 1960s white with wild colors trend. Everything was new and functioned perfectly. One thing we did not like was when you turn on the bathroom light, the translucent mirror from the bathroom lights up the bedroom. Another thing we didn't care for is the 10 minute walk to the downtown through an area that is industrial and run down. It's definitely a safe walk but not very attractive. The hotel is in an area that is rapidly being revitalized and that area may soon be cleaned up. Despite its minor negatives, we would definitely return to this hotel.

I didn't like that the carpet in our room had stains and luckily we always bring our own room slippers during our travels. The bed was comfy and the bed linens were clean. Our bathroom was fine was well. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Hamburg Central Station or 10 minutes walk from "Steinstraße" U-Bahn station. The hotel is also close to Bus #3 stops but this bus line didn't run that often during our time in Hamburg.

You leave your key with them when you leave the premises, but many times, there's no one there when you return so we all just walked behind the desk and retrieved a key for ourselves! Elevator can comfortably hold 3 standing adults without large purses, or 1 adult with luggage. NOT accessible to anyone who has mobility issues who needs a scooter or wheelchair. Considering how premium space is in the elevator, I watched 3 staff members get in and leave several customers waiting instead of taking the stairs during the times of peak usage. The elevator also hasn't been programmed to complete a task. For example; carry all those going up then stopping at the floors going down. Instead it stops at all floors canceling the call at the floor. Again, seeing staff members taking up precious space really irked me. We had an empty soap container in our shower so had to get out while dripping to squirt some from the sink. After our shower, we removed the empty container & threw it away & put the full one from the sink on the shower floor (didn't want to break the connection points). That evening we saw a new soap container at the sink only to find in the morning when we took our showers again, they had just put the original one back and we were dripping across the floor once again to get soap! Breakfast was doable, nothing to write home about. Standard cold cuts, bread, jam, cereal & yogurt. Nothing hot. Area around the hotel is going downhill with a lot of graffiti and homeless camped out around the corner near the park & metro entrance. Not all was bad. I'm giving it 2 stars because the gentleman during the day shift at the reception desk was helpful and fluent in English.

When family and friends come to visit, we send them here and so far everyone has been pretty happy. Comfy beds, quiet (if a bit warm) bedrooms plus as others have said the breakfasts are great. No parking but the place is less than 0.5k from St Pauli and Stadthausbrucke stations. It overlooks Planten and Blomen, and very good for the DOM, the Ice Rink / Roller Rink, Hamburg Life museum plus the River front and docks. The nightlife of the Reeperbahn / Kiez is just moments away, but not TOO near!!

I think I'm full for most of the day from the breakfasts. Good location, I walked to ever since it was walking distance and closed to markets and restaurants and bars and 10mins away from the red light district which I found out on the last day. I reserved one of the bigger suite rooms (apartment sized) for my short stay in Hamburg and was absolutely blown away. It was HUGE. Really more of an apartment with a separate bedroom, living room, dining area, bar area, huge terrace with sun chairs, small galley kitchen and a super clean bathroom. All the decor was extremely updated and modern, really well done. Seriously...after staying in a lot of strange places this summer, "My Place" really was an oasis. They are a bit old school in terms of booking and payments. You book via email (though they get back to you quickly!) and when I reserved I wasn't even asked to lay down a credit card. Hmmm, strange...I thought. I actually wasn't even asked for a credit card until I checked out. Now of course I am extremely trustworthy, would not cancel last minute (they actually have SEVEN DAY cancellation policy, FYI) or ruin anything in the rooms...but I have to think there is a reason 99 percent of hotels require a credit card for security. My Place doesn't...it didn't affect me adversely of course, just pointing it out. The breakfast is served on the top floor (4th) overlooking the roofdeck with a nice view. However I found the breakfast to be a bit bland and for 8 euros, you can easily skip just a block down the street to Cafe Unter Linden for a really nice spread. If it were included, would've been great...but I wouldn't say the extra 8 euros is a good value. Also, in the room you must pay for each nespresso cup used (1 euro), which I found strange given how nice everything was. Has there been nespresso abuse in the past? Overall though, a really wonderful experience and I would definitely stay again. The rooms are pristine, the area is beautiful (easily reached by s-bahn from central station or hamburg airport) and the quiet side street offers a nice respite. The staff was friendly and this boutique hotel is a winner! *free and easy wifi as well. My Place, indeed.
